Honestly, I've always known Tord was "evil", but in a different way. he isn't heartless, he clearly cares about his friends. I believe in the finale of The End Part 2, where he looks at Edd, Tom, and Matt, sadly, he realizes maybe power wasn't worth it to him if it meant he had to betray in his friends. in the end (pun not intended), he made a choice and he had to pick between power and friends. I really do hope his character returns some day.

Sadly, the real Tord is just gone, he disappeared, and Jamie Spicer-Luis (I may have spelt that wrong) was fired from the Eddsworld team, so the chances are really low, but he could return but probably not. Well I’m sure of him not returning.

honestly, tord is a really fun character to dive into when you really pay attention. i just got back into rewatching eddsworld videos and i hopped back into the end. it's so obvious that tord does care about his friends but power took over the best of him. in the end part 2, you can see he most likely regrets or holds guilt for what he has done and kind of sat there and let it sink in for awhile.

I feel like having Tord back in Eddsworld Beyond as a *character* could be really interesting. The first real episode in beyond has a lot of references to past episodes and seems to be setting up some kind of story with arcs and stuff, so having Tord possibly involved in the story as a antagonist could develop his character more. Who knows maybe he'll get a redemption like you said.

@@aidentoons i don't really see how it's completely distasteful. on one hand, yeah tom should have contacted tord about bringing back the character. on the other hand, at that point i'm pretty sure tord had faded out of the public eye at that point so fans can't stalk him anymore (although people do try). it's a really mixed issue, especially since when he asked edd to write the character out his reasoning was because the character was personal to him.
of course people stalking tord and using edd's death against him isn't okay. hell, people still do that with tom and matt to this day. however, i don't really see what that has to do with his character's portrayal in the end

I wouldn’t say Tord is evil by any means! Despite the whole ‘violent/red leader/take over the world’ thing being labeled as ‘evil’, I think that he’s a pretty well developed character. He’s got those best friend rivalries, Edd and Tom participate freely in them too, and even though he does occasionally push Matt aside, he doesn’t normally intentionally hurt him in any way? Because Matt never really did anything to him in return?
I love redemption arcs, and I do hope that the current series will stop trying to erase the end, because that was a super interesting character development between all four of them! In the last scene on top of the hill in the end, he stayed there for presumably a long time as he got patched up, perhaps reminiscing?
He’s just super cool and there could be so many clever ways to work up more story for him 💕

I love Tord, he's my favorite character and he's a character with infinite potential that got snuffed before he could reach it properly. He's also the donner of my favorite color. I think that in a better world where he got to stay, he would've still been a chill guy with a jackass but leaderlike attitude who just happened to be the leader of a militaristic group on the side, like extra episodes where he has to go outta the house and the three boys are left clueless as to what he's doing. He would've added a lot to the episodes we know now I believe, and I'm so happy a video like this about him exists because I've wanted to see a proper analysis of him and his character for so long due to his lack of presence and speeches. I think you did a wonderful job and would like to see you do more Eddsworld (and specifically Tord) stuff in the future whether it be videos or art. In my own little dream world I like to imagine later episodes if Tord still got to be there (though The End would be entirely different and I don't know what it would be like)

We are all aware of the end and blowing the house up and even killing Jon. But like you mentioned he did seem to feel bad about it after. Now even with real life Tord he was mistreated by the fans causing him to leave in 25 FT under the seat. Its as if, Tord was on a time limit or something. He spent tons of time with his friends, even recreating past acts and even going on adventures and watching the same old movies. But when he went shopping with his friends, he suddenly makes up a excuse and runs back home. Its as if, he wanted to spend as much time as possible before the inevitable attack on his friends.
But why? Why would he end up spending so much time, then deciding to finally do the act that changes our perspective to him only to be interrupted by Edd. Which causes him to get mad and hurt Matt?
Its as if, he got mad because he got stressed out over realizing what he was about to do. Would change their perspective towards him. Not because he wanted to do the act with pure evil intent, we could defend this point of view if we don't count how he laughed demonically.
But, him deciding to spend time going shopping with Edd & Matt when it could take around 10-20 minutes for a shopping trip?He definitely either actually got forced to proceed with the act. Or he just thought that he should just get it over with.
It also seems as if, he wanted to replace Tom with himself. He sounded annoyed whenever Edd mentions Tom.
These are all my speculations, as we have no idea what Tord's true goals or intent is.

While I've only been an Eddsworld fan for around 6 or so months as of writing this, Tord immediately stood out to me as a character in the franchise and instantly became my favourite. And The End's trilogy were some of my first episodes of Eddsworld. So at first, I just figured Tord was "the villain" of the franchise. But as I watched more and more eddisodes, I realised how... strange it felt that Tord just "became evil." As at first, he seemed like one of the gang. It was a little after that I got into the whole Red Leader storyline. And man, I wish we got more direct lore for this clan. I love the mystery behind it with it always being a background detail that you, the viewer, has to piece together, but I think a full episode about the clan and more context as to why Tord wanted to go down that path outside of "just liking violence" would've been amazing.
With Eddsworld not being completely over yet with Beyond, I really hope we get more of Tord, the Red Leader storyline, etc. I know some people may find it offensive to Tord or disrespectful to bring his character back despite him being the one who wanted Edd to remove him in the first place, but I think Tord's been away from the series for so long now that he probably wouldn't even mind his character returning. Especially since I'm pretty sure Matt (Or Tom, I can't remember.) discussed how the characters are now so different to their real world counterparts to the point where they're their own entities. They're not supposed to represent or feel like their real world counterparts anymore besides the personality they already have. So separating Tord from his real life counterpart could potentially remove that mindset that people have about his character returning. Personally, I don't see the problem with it, but I can also understand where people are coming from with the mindset.
Overall, I love Tord as a character. He stood out to me immediately. And whether we ever get the redemption arc that I'm hoping for, or even another appearance in the future, I'm excited to see where the series goes from here. Especially with this whole storyline and how the events haven't been completely forgotten in the lore. (cough cough, Jon still being dead in Beaster Bunny.) This was a really good video with a lot of interesting topics and I hope to see more in the future!

i love videos like these that try to look at characters from a different perspective and open up another door of possibilities to their characters. prior to this video, while i at first used to think he was evil, that thought changed after looking at another angle (and i also love redemption arcs lol)
i mean cmon, if he were truly evil, he would’ve killed all of his friends right when he got that robot out of the house. and the fact that when he appears again in the end pt.1, he was trying to get the robot while they were gone fishing. like, he definitely could have arrived at the door at any time with ulterior motives and could have broken their friendship whenever, but instead he’s seen sneaking in when no one’s around. possibly trying to get in and out without getting his friends involved? AND especially when he’s on that hill, looking back at the destruction with what looked to be a somber expression too! i don’t wanna ramble but i do honestly think that maybe tord’s not evil after all and seeing this video was a real breath of fresh air
edit: i’ve also been thinking about tord’s supposed villainous role in super average and the gang’s affiliation with him in the future and how that all might have happened which has honestly been hurting my brain so i would love to hear anyone’s explanations for these too

I love your interpretation of Tord's villian arc! Tord is my second favorite character (My favorite is Edd) and when i first watched the end i was really confused about tord, but your exaplanation just makes a lot of sense :]
I have to be honest tho, i dont really liked Tord in The end, in some scenes he's act like a whole different character and some of his personality traits are taken way to far (for example his rivalry with Tom, in the classic era they were just frenemies, yeah they didnt get along but they at least tolerated each other, but in The end they act like if they literally HATE each other, and for me it doesnt make a lot of sense). And its actually never explained why he acts like this, but im pretty sure that what happened was that "when he left something happened to him that made him more impulsive/violent" (or i just stick to the theory that the Tord in the end is a clone from spares lol).
Im also not a fan to the whole Red Leader (Future) thingy, some people say that, after The End, tord was like "lol i betrayed my friends now i will dominate the world also i have a robot arm now *evillaugh.mp3*", I think that, maybe Tord rejects what he did, maybe he thinks of the damage that he has done to his old friends (specially Edd, its often mentioned that they were best friends before The End), and maybe he isnt as bad as people think he is, because no one is pure evil.
Tord is not necessarily a good person, but is not evil either. I just think that his villian arc was just treated very poorly and needed more development, but hey its just my interpretation, and i dont think the thruth about tord evilness will be ever revealed (because now in beyond they just bring him back just to kill him lol).

I honestly kind of like the idea that Tord was an antagonist, maybe not EVIL, but an antagonist. In The End, I kind of interpreted Tord being strangely kind to Matt and Edd as a way to cover up his plan, so they wouldn't expect it. If he was kind to Tom however, Edd and Matt would probably be suspicious. I suppose you could be the next Matpat of Eddsworld.

My theory is the Tord we see in The End Parts 1 & 2 is actually a clone from the Eddisode Spares, there was 1 (or maybe 2) clone(s) that was shown to solve everything using guns. Tord always did have a love for guns but it wasn’t an evil obsession. The Tord we see in The End attempts to break in instead of waiting for the gang to return in or try to get in using classic wacky Eddsworld shenanigans, talks way more than Tord usually would, shows hints of malicious intent and that he’s possibly not the original Tord, and straight up punches Matt in the face. (and asks if he wants ice cream, dumb Tord he doesn’t like ice cream, this is a joke) As to Paul and Patryck, the gang had encountered Paul before so it’s not out of the blue. And as to the giant robot, it’s kinda of a hard subject to touch on but all I can say is he broke in before if he was able to break in when Edd, Tom and Matt returned then, Clone Tord could have done it before. But this is just a theory, if you disagree that’s fine.

    • @UrbanLevelMag
      @UrbanLevelMag 2 года назад +3

I do believe the clone thing could very well be true but, you also need to think about the theory of Tord living with Edwardo, Mark and John. There is no proof that Tod really excited. In Power Edd, when you see Mark and John watch the alien TV, you see a red sleeve in the bottom corner of the screen... yes, it could have been "Tod" or Tord keeping an eye on his robot in case Tom or anyone else my have found it, while the clone is at Red Army Base. Then later when he felt it was time, get the robot and jet(leave) and go back to R.A.B.

to me what constitutes a character as "evil" is if they fully believe in what they're doing and if they don't really have any regrets in terms of what they're doing. to me, tord absolutely has regrets and went out of his way to try and avoid dragging his friends into whatever he's involved with until it became impossible. and when that collision happened, it forced him to see the consequences of his actions

I must admit that watching this made me cry a little, I've been an Eddsworld fan ever since 2007, even had some messages swapped back & forth with Edd & when youtube announced that they were going to end the whole messaging thing, I tried gaining access to my old account to save the messages in a file or something but sadly, I forgot the log in information. Anyways, I remember the sting when Tord left the show, I was going into high school when I first got into Eddsworld & Edd passed about a year after I graduated. 25ft Under the Seat, I first watched at school, even though youtube wasn't accessible on school computers, Eddsworld site was back when it was up & running so sometimes during lunch, my friends & I would watch it & we all saw that eddisode together for the first time & we thought Tord leaving was a joke & that it wasn't actually a thing that would stick. Unsure how fans that got into it later view it but as someone who watched before that. Tord was such a core member of the 4 & for him to drop out was sad but years later when I learned why, I understand. He's a real person & it was unfair that this interfered with his real life.
Even with what happened in the finale, I can't ever view Tord as evil even though he's done awful things. I saw his violent nature as a fun, silly quirk & whenever it was implied or he actually did evil stuff, it's just like "oh, that's our lovable Tord!" Even back when I was in high school, I saw that he was a core member of the team & cared deeply about making sure they were all alright. I do like him & was happy that he was on the show for as long as he was, even if it did cause him problems, I appreciate him putting up with it for as long as he did.
Thank you for this, man this was such a trip down memory lane! Use to re-watch Eddsworld so much, a few of my friends have some eddisodes memorized word for word like one of them if she was there when watching Ruined, she would say every single line as it happened. We all knew it pretty well so not like she ruined anything & yes, that joke was intended. I think I'm one of the reasons why Eddsworld was popular at my school, my friend group would show others how to get to his site & since it was never blocked, it was a fun thing to watch during lunch. Pretty much most kids either had a flip phone or no phone at school, heck, in one of my classes, this one kid would play Happy Tree Friends without the audio on his ipod & everyone would gather in the corner to watch it because it was a bit of a do nothing class. Pretty much if you showed up for the field trip which was a job fair & did well on the final, you passed. Having Eddsworld as a solid option to watch at school made it that much better.

I wasn’t expecting this video to get recommended, but I enjoyed it. I knew Tord had a personality before the Red Leader thing in The End (besides the guns and porn) but it’s difficult to remember if he doesn’t talk or isn’t shown that much.
I also think Tord could have been handled better, but that’s what you can do with a character like him. If they could have acknowledged him and his departure in other eddisodes, I think maybe The End would have been different. But nice video!

    HOLY LONELY PONIES EATING MACARONIES-
I'm so happy to see a fan theory about Tord that doesn't include him being a clone or evil. While I do enjoy the idea of a remaining Tord clone from Spares, it just doesn't seem that accurate. Your theory about Tord in this is almost EXACTLY like mine, except I believe that during The End Parts 1 and 2, Tord is trying to get his friends out of the house so he can leave secretly.
In the beginning, he had snuck into the house and tried to pick the lock on Tom's room to get in and out as quickly as possible, but is caught when the three get banned from the lake. During their adventures, Tord finds it easiest to get rid of Tom by just annoying the heck out of him but finds it a bit more difficult to shake off Edd and Matt. That's why he tries to leave during the movie AND in the grocery store since they would be distracted and wouldn't notice him leaving. Of course, both of these attempts failed, causing him to get frustrated and resort to violence (As you stated in your video) by punching Matt in the face and shooting at Tom TWICE in the end.
But if he was there for blood, he would have tried to harm Edd and Matt as well, but instead, he tries to leave. Finally, when his plans blow up in his face, quite literally, he's able to see through his anger at what he's done to his friends. He looks at his old home, now in pieces, for a long time while his soldiers patch him up and get ready to leave.
But that's just what I think... In three paragraphs...
Also, your video was absolutely amazing and entertaining to watch, all while you have perfect evidence to support all your claims. All I know is that I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Can't wait to see more!

I think (with the Red Army only being halfway canon) that Tord did amass a small following. This caused him to go a little crazy with power, which leads to his actions in The End. However, that last part... I do think he regrets his actions. He's finally seen what he's done. However, he might be too scared to go back.
Tord is a very interesting character indeed, capturing fans imaginations about what happened between 25 Ft. Under the Seat and The End. Honestly, it's fun to see and read other people's ideas about it.

I've heard that the reason that Tom brought back Tord in The End, was to portray him as a communistic warlord so that the fans would leave him alone. Prior to the End he was shown to be the least evil of the four so for all we know his plans of World domination are not what we expect, perhaps he intends on creating a peaceful Empire, Tord also never shoots at Edd or Matt directly which is interesting, if he were just pure evil you'd think he'd want these guys out of the picture as soon as possible but outside of Tom he doesn't even dirty their clothes, I know he punched Matt earlier but that was out of fear of them discovering the robot, to him it was necessary in that moment.
He didn't kill anyone that he didn't dislike, he did blow up the neighbours' house but chances are he had grown to dislike them since he did live with Edd for a while and I find it hard to believe that he never met them in that time, it just happened off screen, so yeah it's possible that he wasn't evil in the End, more far gone than before but not evil.

As for another point, let's not forget that Edd, Matt, and Tom have all had villainous roles as well as Tord. Sure, Edd arguably had the least, and was mostly villainous in Ruined with Tom and the times he and Tord fought, and Matt's villainous deeds, with the exception of the original Eddsworld Halloween, were primarily when he was under a more villainous influence (whether it be him being possessed by the ghost in Hammer and Fail, or choosing to be villainous as the Zombeh leader and as a vampire in the Zombie Attack trilogy and Matt Sucks respectively). However, Tom is arguably just as villainous as Tord during Zanta Claws trilogy, from him trying to kill Santa Claus three times to trying to destroy Christmas at an even greater scale than Tord did in The End Part 2. Aside from the characters who are strictly villains, the main cast can have their times when they can be good and when they can be bad.

I really do think he still cares for them despite the stunt he pulled and he never really hurt Matt, Edd and Tom drastically (aside Tom getting missiled by his robot but for some reason didn't get injured that much idk Cartoon Logic I guess), Hell I think Tom did worse because he injured Tord pretty badly (and to the point that maybe his injured arm not being able to move now?) and I like to think that Tord believes that he deserves it since he destroyed Edd's house and stuff and regrets it because Edd and his friends let him in with no question because they were friends.

I like to think that the whole group equally vibe checked each other intentionally and unintentionally, so when Tord came back it was hard for them to find that balance of what was enough or too much. Especially since one of the reasons that Tord didn't get into federal prison was because Edd more than likely wrangled him up and set him back on track. Him and Edd were always seen bickering over silly to extreme things so it makes sense that Edd doesn't really recall how to balance them out friendship wise when Tords place was filled in by Matt and Toms own personalities and development. I think that would be another resentment Tord has especially against Tom, Tom filled the gap that he left and he tried to force him out of it entirely because of his extreme response and reaction towards certain situations. I could be full of shit tho so idk

  • @Thund_rStruck
    @Thund_rStruck 6 месяцев назад +2

I honestly don't think he has evil intentions, I think he uses all those traits for good. What I believe his reason for killing stuff with guns is because he likes to protect his friends, and likes to see whatever he's fighting drop dead to the ground instantly. He represents leadership because he always thinks of plans on the spot in dire situations, and passes the idea / ideas around to Edd, Tom, and Matt. I think he also wanted to keep them from making any mistakes that might put Tord himself and his friends in major trouble, hence why he is the one making the decisions. He became the Red Leader and built his mech to take some or all of Norway for his own, though I think it's because he didn't like who was in charge of Norway and wanted to be a suitable leader. I also think he wanted what was best for not just his friends, but the people of his home country as well.

I agree with this a lot, but I honestly think he didn't just become red leader after he moved out.
I mean the red leader symbol was in the secret weapon area. If he actually planned to get his robot and leave(very likely intended not to be caught initially) I don't think he'd leave a symbol behind.
Especially considering if he were to leave the way he likely intended, without his friends knowing, they(most likely mainly Edd) would try to find where he went and try to possibly find clues to where he went. Plus, considering the way to Access that weapon room is only hidden by a painting.
I mean could be argued that the symbol could have been used as a trick to think he was kidnapped, but considering the wanted posters, I find it unlikely that it would take that long for them to find out on their own.
In my opinion he might have always been red leader, or at least became it in between the last episode he was fully featured in and his moving away.
Edit:I honestly think it's likely he initially left due to initially wanting to protect his friends from his likely enemies (as it would he would likely have a ton with him being an Army leader and technically leader of a country)
That just my thoughts on the matter tho..

The violence, the joy of war, even the lack of consideration for his friends (even if it is played for comedic effect). I will, however, agree that Tord looking at the house at the end is supposed to be him reflecting on his friendship.

3:47 I could be definitely wrong (please don’t turn my replies into a war), but I think Tord didn’t see the mistake. Tord was about harm Matt again, but when Edd is shocked by what Tord did, he quickly changes his mood. He probably didn’t realize his mistake, he probably didn’t want Edd to find out who he truly was and possibly discover his plan from his mood.

I havent watched the video yet, but i agree with the title.
Tord isnt evil, he just hasnt changed. Edd, Matt, and Tom all became better friends who dont kill eachother all the time, tord just wasnt there for that so he didnt grow from that.
If you remember the early eddisodes, they used to murder and injure and make fun of each all the time, which became less... hurtful? I guess that works idk in the Legacy, making tord seem crueler than he was.
Sorry if this is what the video is about, i havent watched it yet

Honestly I would love to see Tord coming back to Tom, Matt, and Edd. After The End 2, He basically has no emotion when his robot blew up. It makes sense since you don't need power over friends. But they might not forgive him since he used his robot on them. This part probably isn't necessary, but there is a video of someone playing as Tord in VR, and when he says hi to Edd, he starts jumping Tord. I said that because forgiveness might not be there.

I think I remember the edd-pisode “The End” was literally directed and scripted by Tom himself. I think in that episode It felt like to me Tom made this about all about him self and made Tord the “villain” of the story and at last Tom was the one who saved the day.
This is just my opinion though. I don’t hate Tom but I feel annoyed this what they turned Tord into.

tomska talked about that on his tumblr blog. i don't agree he made it about himself at all, because by the time edd passed they were already starting to be viewed as characters rather than extensions of their real-life counterparts. tomska, when edd passed, even went and re-watched every eddisode to jot down their main characteristics to further separate them from their real-life counterparts. just like how there would be matt-centric episodes (matt sucks, somee of hammer and fail) and edd-centric episodes (wtfuture, fanservice) there are also tom-centric episodes.
it wasn't JUST tomska that wrote legacy / The End, in fact he had his friend eddie bowley write alongside him because at one point it became too painful to write by himself. i think it's a bit insensitive to say tomska made the series about himself and made tord "the villain" when he and edd were BOTH planning the stuff involving red leader. edd had sketches for it before he passed, there's even a red leader mention in WTFuture.

Fun google fact:Tord actually isn’t evil, according to google the Tord in the End is actually a leftover spare from the video Spares. It explains that the clone wants revenge on Tord and his friends for killing all of the other clones.

To be honest, to me this video just collects all the proof why Tord is "evil". In fact, everyone in the group is a little evil but Tord seems to have a tiny bit more of the EvIL SauCE due to his violent tendencies and poor ability to calculate consequences. On the other hand evil is a religious concept. By it's definition Tord is evil because his deeds go against the written rules of what a good person is like in a religious concept. He goes against good morality. Like being vengeful when he feels like someone is unfair to him (Edd not sharing his bacon ), viewing pornographic content, being focused on self preservation( Pushes Matt out of the closet to save himself, leaves Edd on the ground and continues running while zombies are coming) and being violent and cruel (Shoots at Edd out of nowhere, having the time of his life murdering clones). In an average biblical sense these things fit the description of evil.
HOWEVER to me he's just a fella doing his own thing. That's just how he is. It's funny. I hope he will get a proper redemption arch I enjoy his character and would like to see more of it.
P.S I also fcking love Eddsworld

      @nikolettaschwarcz8238 2 года назад

@@AinsleySunny It is common sense is what one might think. But if you look at it on a larger scale evil is different for a lot of people based on where they live or what they believe in. So that common sense is very diverse. For this reason I referred specifically to the biblical description of evil to clarify what evil I'm talking about. I'm not trying to imply that if someone is a good person they must be religious. That would be very inconsiderate.
