Coach Nick breaks down this spirited game, showing you how the Clipper could not get organized enough to pull this "home" game out down the stretch.
Starting with two Griffin's clear offensive foul
These videos are awesome. No complains. Incredible work.
anyone else want him to critique when u play NBA 2k
I lol'd so hard at the end. "Okay you gotta go." Hahaha
Thanks - and welcome! We are now focusing on playoff teams, so Cleveland won't get covered...
You got a point. I just said something though. I think the clips can at least get out of the first round. I'll laugh if they get to the Western Conference Finals.
great breakdown, coach!
i learned 3 things from watching that game and u've confirmed them in this video:
1. Bynum OWNS DeAndre Jordan.
2. If u don't double team Kobe, u're screwed
3. Blake Griffin can only dunk
Also, Del Negro needs to learn how to control his team like how u control ur kid! :P
Absolutely love the video, Nick! You could not have analyzed the Clips current situation any better. Even though VDN sucks as a coach, at least the Clips should listen to him until his contract doesn't get renewed in the offseason. - Joey Weinberg
people under-rate kobe's crzy shots. you dont know how hard those are
Shocking that they're doing so well still
I gotta change one more setting on the camera - so frustrating, but I'm getting closer to getting it solved in time for playoffs.
Man, these videos are awesome. Glad I found them and definitely subscribed. Will you do or Have you done a video on Kyrie? I really feel like dude could be one of the best PGs in the league in the coming years when he gets some weapons around him. Thanks and keep up the awesome work. I've already watched a crap tone of your vids in day 1.
Great videos as always, every sport need a (fillinsport)breakdown. Top notch as usual coach. Go Lakers
Yes - just fixed the color balance issue with a new light (kept going too red before) but now I gotta reposition my green screen - hopefully that'll get rid of shadow, or I'll get another light for it... Wasn't a problem til I was forced to switch cameras....
@blentty It's not only about the kind of shot - it's the score, it's the situation, a lot of things make shots different than each other
Two reasons:
1. It's Kobe
2. The defender didn't contest very well or quickly enough. By the time Kobe hits his apex and releases the ball, the defender is still flat footed and his hand is blocking the "24" which doesn't do much to a guy like Kobe
the first one was over the back, but it was so vicious and exciting that..
the second was not a foul - Gasol is in the air, moving into him as well
PLEASE do a Memphis breakdown, curious as to what you think about the addition of arena, mayo playing really well and Randolph coming off the bench as well as the addition of spieghts this year
YES! Will do ASAP. They're my dark horse to get the 4th seed and make it to the WCF
The breakdowns we've done on Miami show pretty good sets - they just don't run them often enough
THanks!
Coach i think you should do a analysis of the top 3 or 4 contenders in the east/west. id be interested in seeing what teams you think are going to come out on top and what they have to do in order to win.
Lol, I love the little extra bit at the end.
I like this one much better, hopefully will have an even better one for the playoffs.
such nice videos, thanks for making them!
Thanks coach this is very informative!
Welcome! Lots more coming up
I did do one with Laker scout Bill Bertka and it was cool. Definitely on our board, so I'll see... maybe for the playoffs.
Griffin does it every single poster dunk, he extends his forearm into his opponents head which draws the foul everytime and it should be an offensive foul on griffin
double kobe foot stomp lol
I can't keep it straight! Did you see our most recent Heat vs Knicks?
LMFAO at the end Coach nick your son got to make more appearance in these hahahaha awesome !
Great question - I'd like to see a study of the affect that AAU basketball is having on all these kids... And if there's a connection between the problem players and their age/years they've been in the league.
LeBron could never make those shots Kobe did at he end.
Thanks! HA
I fixed it for our most recent, you seen it?
Coach Nick I remember when you had your interview with Nick Young I was thinking to myself that you probably hated his game since he never passes and chucks all day
hey coach nick great breakdown as always. would you say the second dunk from blake on gasol is an offensive foul?
@simonthezealot YES - force the ballhandler away from the screen towards the baseline while the screener's man sinks down and blocks the path to the hoop...
The ending was definitely the best part.
Great breakdown. Del Negro seems to lack a very important quality that good coaches simply must have: influence. He knows he's got a general on the floor in Chris Paul who will make the right decision more often than most in the league, so he relinquishes that power to him effectively destroying his coaching image to his own players. I bet CP would love it if the Cavs fired Byron Scott so that he could go after the Clippers front office hard to pick him up.
LOL - getting there - just got a new light that helped with color, now I gotta reposition the green screen...
Deandre has the best reactions :)
THX
Can't agree with you more. Vinny holds them back...
hahahaha that was the funniest thing at the end . made my day
Are you going to breakdown the Bulls Knicks game? The ending was awesome.
congratz to CP3 and Vinny on a great comeback win over OKC!
Thus dont happen now Doc is with the Clippers
hey coach, in the last couple of vids, the scenes where you're just talking in front of the camera seem a bit choppy. have you changed your recorder?
Coach can u do a breakdown on John calipari's dribble drive system and how effective it is at drawing fouls on the other team?
The white balance is off too (which can be fixed in editing) and the lighting is uneven for proper chroma keying (which can be fixed by getting a second florescent light).
sweet green screen. i think the only thing bballbreakdown needs is a second hand man - you know... back and forth commentary and change of tempo. you should get like a guest coach to share his opinions as well, even (and especially) if they conflict with yours.
i think that'll add even greater insight to the breakdowns and a nice professional touch to it.
When Pau gets up in the air, short of Blake extending his arm away from his body (which he didn't really do) it should always be a foul on the defense
coach awesome frequency of videos and great post game chats... sucks about the camera though always lagging/overexposing
they depend too much on their individual skills, thats why they always tired. thanks very good vids! I learn a lot.
Wha? He was getting ball screens all night and THAT was what was working!!!
If only he would listen
Have u ever thought about doing a breakdown of 2002's Sac Kings? Im a lakers fan but they might have played the most beautiful offense I've ever seen
LOL That foot stomp
is it just the key masking messing up with the shadows or do you have a massive curly mullet
actually if you watch the games closely... players do run around with extended arms, especially when penetrating or dribbling so defenders cant successfully reach in for the ball. the don't necessarily do it all the time, but if you watch the game closely... you'll realize that a lot players do it.
hey coach can you explain what ICE is on those sideline pick and rolls?
Hey Coach, Can you highlight some of the stuff the Suns are doing now, and how their bench is doing so well with Isolation plays from Michael Redd.
Steve Blake's actually pretty solid as a backup point guard. TBH the main issues are MWP and Nash. Get a solid, quicker and defensive PG and a good wing. Clark can play solid minutes at SF/PF, Jordan Hill as C/PF. I like Tony Allen, but no way are Grizzlies giving up a player for nothing again (Kwame for Gasol lol)
Where do you rank DeMarcus Cousins among the centers in the NBA?
at 4:15, that was good offense. they got the switch they wanted with pau on cp3. chris just couldn't finish.
The Lakers have been playing good basketball since the arrival of Sessions. They are scoring more points, Kobe is more efficient, Bynum is getting more touches. Can't count them out in the West just yet I reckon.
8:11 that's an open shot!? nah that's just kobe
That would be an interesting development. I think Clippers fall to 5th, lose in 1st round, bounce VDN...
But he should be able to block well. If he can elevate that well when dunking, he should also be able to use that elevation defensively to block, rebound etc.
hey coach nick, why is ron artest such an inconsistent shooter??
That isnt a fadeaway thats how kobe shoots his jumpshots he goes up at an angle normally its effective because his arms are so long
Young, dumb and full of..... fun, nicely put, coach!!!
I believe ICE is when you force the ball handler into the bottom corner and trap him there, using the sidelines as extra pressure. I may be wrong though.
bynum is an offensive player. dwight is a defensive. but bynum didn't put forward effort therefore they wanted to trade him, Bynum also wanted to leave.
Its not even that the Lakers were executing extremely well, its just that the Clippers were flopping on what they should have been executing well.
0:20 the lakers bench were trying so hard to not react on the dunk.
It's a little weird and bunched up, but hey - if it works, let it ride
It was a foul on Pau FIRST because as Griffin was shooting, Pau tried to block it while clearly in the half-circle.
coach great stuffs again. bad coaching really haunt young players development.
This may sound crazy but I expect Memphis and OKC to meet in the confrence finals. No other team in the West can compete with OKC.Memphis is highly underrated.Mayo,Gay,Randolph,Gasol,Connelly,Arenas,Allen, and a great bench. What do you think coach?
HA, love it
Billups was supposed to serve as the second head coach to the Clippers and his injury was a major blow to them. Yet, nobody should cut any slack for the Clippers or their coach. They are still a capable team with CP3 and Griffin and they should start getting their act together now or else they are going to be one and done in the playoffs
The Lakers also still need to get their act together too. Sessions is their X factor and if he is not ready for a title so aren't the Lakers.
i feel that the other 7 teams in the west playoffs have a better chance in the playoffs than the clippers, memphis look dangerous and deep, lakers frontcourt is always a worry, Houston/Spurs/thunder are no doubt deep as hell, Jazz got a nice frontcourt and they are all more well coached (except lakers, veteran leadership?) but thats just my opinion. i feel that they may be several game 6/7s in the west
You got videos on the miami heat crap offense?
the first putback was a clear over the back foul. just ask yourself, what if instead of slamming it he just grabbed the rebound. its a clear over the back. the second dunk was a foul on pau for leaving the ground late
is hedging making contact on the screen as a defensive player?
coach, can u explain why blake griffin never gets offensive fouls when he dunks because he always puts his forearm infront to knock people over then jump on them dunking it on them and the defender gets a foul instead of griffin getting an offensive foul
Breakdown okc at Miami plz!
You can say that again! But I don't love him, either. You see how important he is, though? A 20 pt loss to Phoenix w/o him??
He's a pretty good jumpshooter
hey coach, what happened to your old intro?
Coach you gotta breakdown playoff way to beat okc, like Indiana is doing right now today or miami.
You gotta watch til the VERY end.. ha
Steve Blake is the Joey Harrington of the NBA.
got ur new camera i see ^^
not to sound like a hater or anything... but when Griffin dunks on Gasol is it not a foul when he puts his arm out into Gasols' face?
do u have a perm?
@bballbreakdown why aren't you coaching in the NBA, its obvious you know your stuff
It says @2011 at the end change it :D
