The more I learn about these speakers, the more I like them. From this video, I noted there is no network control on either the CDL10P or the Sub; I see that as a good thing. You have all you need in the relatively simple menu's to set things up as you need for all except the most complicated of setups, which would suit 99% of people.
Hi John - I tend to agree with you on the no networking for portable set-ups, which is mostly what we do. If we hook up our cabinets to the network, there are definite advantages to that approach as then you can manage the speakers as a group....but it's the work involved in running the cabling. Now if the speakers could connect via wi-fi....that would be the best of both worlds!

Ha Ha! PreSonus has treated us well! It's pretty obvious their ecosystem works for us and we have been a long time customer. Since we already owned the CDL 12's, it was nice of them to send us the CDL10P's and Sub18 to check out! More importantly, we want to get the word out. The CDL series has been our secret weapon for the past few years, so it's time to share the word with others!
Thanks folks for the run through. I'm not sure why the LCD screen and instructions on the back of the CDL10's are positioned at 90 degrees to the way the speaker is positioned on the pole? As for the Sub - why wouldn't PreSonus make "Preset 1" = 1 top cabinet & "Preset 2" = 2+ top cabinets (instead of the reverse)?
That's great feedback. Honestly, we didn't think about the LCD screen until a couple of comments. Understand, but manageable. Agreed on the Preset 1 & 2. In fact, it didn't hit us until after the comments that our 18s subs have similar functionality with "P1" & "P2" button settings that work just the way you suggested...so at least keep it consistent?? However, with the benefit of having the level attenuator knob right there, we are still not sure why it's even needed...just turn it up or down.
It just sort of happened out of asking ourselves is there a better solution? And the answer keeps being "no". I talk to to guys that are this'n and that'n and rack'n and cabling...Seriously, who else has a 24 channel mixer in a 2-space? Done... Need lock down mix control? Done...oh, want to record? Done! Nobody does this at their price points! Meanwhile, guys are rackn' and stack'n and feeding the gear monster. Has there been some challenges? Yes, but at the end of the day, they have always stepped up...that's more can be said for some other manufactures leaving customers dry. We truly mean it when we say some of this gear has been our secret weapon....when musicians ask, why do my in-ears sound so good? Why does the system sound so good? Why aren't we getting volume complaints...we always did in the past in this room. We could go on and on...so yes, the PreSonus gear seriously works for us...we don't see a reason to change or go out and buy the new line of sexy brand "X" because everyone else is. End of rant! Just kidding...but we would say this regardless of any relationship with PreSonus.
Hello Bart and Stacy.. Hope you guys are doing Well.. I have a Quick Question.. How can we stack 02 or 03 units on top of Dual 18 Subwoofer without a pole and angle towards audience.. is there a plate or tray that will go under the very bottom speaker and can balance the tops and keep them straight .. like JBL Stacks on top of Dual 18 JBL SRX 828SP.. ???? do you have any helpful information ??
I was right about the Powercon not being a real Neutrik! Seetronic is the second largest and maybe even the largest producer of Powercon-style connectors. No personal experience with them but you don't get that big if you produce POS connectors. The problem for me is that these are not to be (dis)connected under load whereas EVERY (newer) Powercon with "XX" in their product name can be (dis)connected under load. And if you are like me and you just switched literally everything over to "XX" cable and chassis connectors because people will never follow proper procedures... I can't wait for the CDLs first outing so I hope you will upload one very soon! Best regards to you both from the Netherlands! Richard
I really like this absolutely honest review. The sub looks nice and big, how deep is the low-frequency response? and what size venues can it comfortably cover?
What do you need? We really aren't able to offer direct support, but maybe offer some direction. For PreSonus gear, there are very helpful support groups with an entire of passionate users willing to help! RUclips is a wealth of informational videos on just about any topic!@@wyttness6722

We have considered those. However, we like our gear to serve us across a bigger spectrum of needs. We have our Pecron power distribution, which serves us in multiple ways for portable power...just like these speakers will be used in multiple configuration. Gear that is best for single purpose needs may do that job well, but it takes longer to get your return and it sits idle more.
CDL loudspeakers have voltage ranges of 100-120VAC, or 220-240VAC, 50-60Hz. Check this link for a listing of all of their speakers! www.presonus.com/en-US/loudspeakers/
Love your content! Thanks so much ! Will be interested in your opinion on how these sound compared to a wood cabinet. We have all QSC stuff and the birch HPR cabinets do sound better than later ABS plastic models but yeah they weigh more so there’s a price to be paid labor wise. Thanks again for your content!!! Great stuff!!!!
If the cabinets are rigid enough (most important part) and the material used can mimic the same acoustic properties as wood, you won't be able to hear any difference. The material used and the way the cabinets are designed is what makes the difference. And as usual: Money is the decisive factor in this. That's the shortest version of the story and the best explanation on this topic.
We will try as best we can. Note that comparing the CDL12 (wood) to a CDL10P is not quite the same. We would need a CDL12P to be able to provide a subjective comparison. However, we have heard that comparing the CDL12's series against each other that there are some subtle differences in sound characteristics. This should not be surprising as they are made of two completely different types of material.
@thesoundcouple Noted. But the difference between the CDL12 and CDL12P could also be down to the processing and/or amp module. Time for the guys from @presonus to shed their light on this subject. And maybe we are getting a bit far from the original topic but I do know for sure that a different design amp and/or processing can chance the complete sound of the same speaker. I had that experience when d&b audiotechnik released their D12 with digital amp and processing in 2003. It replaced the P1200(a) which had an analog amp and analog processing. Night and day difference. The same happened albeit on a much smaller scale when the D80 came out.
That depends on many factors....but in general - small to medium in a typical environment for a typical live band that needs to cover 100 ft deep at 90 or so dB. We have a video where we used them at a gig.
@@thesoundcouple Just picked up 4 for 400 a piece! so far so good testing. but have not set them up on my digital mixer for best sound. the throw is pretty impressive. cant wait to get them out on 2 yorkville 801p
If you are referring to our "old" subs (18s), they should be pretty similar as the specs are nearly identical (how it's controlled is different) However, the Sub18 is physically larger so we anticipate we will feel more output. PreSonus has stated to us that it will, we just haven't had a chance to see for ourselves.
@mostyles328 And in addition to that: The "clipping problem" as mentioned on other channels. Is it really a problem or just people needing to get to know their gear?
@Velkus96 I know. But as it has been brought up by some other RUclipsrs I think it's a topic Bart should discuss. For me, as someone who values Bart's opinion, it would be valuable to know if there is an issue or that it's just other people not understanding their gear.
Besides power (or better SPL), let's compare total speaker surface area... We use the formula: area = radius square x pi SP10 MODEL with 10" woofer and 6 x 2" drivers ........ woofer: ( 5"r) square x 3.14 x 1 = 78.5 sq inches drivers: ( 1"r) square x 3.14 x 6 = 18.84 Total speaker area for SP10 = 97.34 sq inches SP12 MODEL... woofer: ( 6"r )square x 3.14 x 1 = 113 drivers: ( 1"r)square x 3.14 x 8 = 25 Total Speaker Area for SP12 = 138 sq inches So if you use TWO SP10,s you are at 194.7 sq inches of speaker area! The pole is the only option which will support up to two (ours is 16"). Between three and six, you need to rigging grid and fly them. Hope this helps!
120 horizontal coverage. Nice!
It is. It took us some time to “trust” this since we work with so many bands running in-ears, but the coverage is there!

woofer: ( 6"r )square x 3.14 x 1 = 113
