This announcement needed to be made. There should have been periodic reassurance from KP or Catherine herself, that she, who had not been positively identified in public since Christmas, was okay but still receiving medical care. It was the lack of communication that fueled the speculation. There were ways to handle this that would have allowed her to keep the details private until she was ready to share with the world but still providing reassurance.

I'm guessing she felt she had to make the announcement due to the rumors and insane accusations floating around over the past couple of months and if that's the case, shame on everyone who demanded to know where she was/what was wrong with her as well as the insane 'William beat her' rumors that were floating around. Cancer is no longer an automatic death sentence. I had cancer over 30 years ago, and i have lived to tell the tale . Cancer research has made great strides in that time. If she was diagnosed timeously, she could live to see her grandchildren!

I find myself in tears. I am not usually like this. I like and admire Princess Catherine. She has proven to be exceptional. A credit to the Crown, the country/Commonwealth, and her parents. This is a cruel shock. I know, good people face the same everyday. I hope she comes through this free and clear of cancer. And it strikes me just from personal experience, that sometimes the nicest people in the world are the ones who get hit and some of the meanest people in the world live to 90. The Queen died not long ago, which was shocking. This is even more shocking. No one should be giving a platform to attack this family; they will get through it. We all look up to them.
I want to point out and clarify for those who missed this or didn’t catch the significance.
Catherine said that cancer HAD been present and she is undergoing PREVENTATIVE treatment. Being a cancer survivor myself, who underwent a year of chemo after I had surgery and while I was cancer free, I understand exactly what she means.
I don’t know what kind of cancer she had, but having lived in that world for a couple years, I do know that every cancer is unique. What is done for one isn’t appropriate for another. A treatment that is called one thing for one is called something completely different for another. Nothing at all in anyone else’s medical history can tell us anything about what Kate is dealing with. To that end, I hope people stop guessing, or worse yet being so cocksure that they “know” what is going on.
All that Catherine’s video, Catherine herself, has told us is that she is now cancer free, and has chosen to put herself through the hell of chemo to increase her odds of it not returning, or potentially metastasizing.
Something I didn’t know before my diagnosis is how long the aftereffects linger. It took me more than a year after chemo ENDED to feel back to my former energy level. My chemotherapy did permanent damage to my heart, which I am now dealing with and will deal with for the rest of my life. Again, this has nothing to do with Catherine except sharing in the very loosest of ways the KIND OF THINGS that some cancers cause. I am sharing hoping that people understand that if this drags out for a while for her, there is no dishonesty, no cover-up, no conspiracy… it’s just the nature of this particular beast called cancer.
A lot of people have made absolute fools of themselves stating so many things on social media that it is utterly impossible for anyone outside of Catherine’s medical team and closest confidantes to know. My stomach is already in knots expecting more of the same through the next year or two. Dealing with something like this is hard enough. People make it 10x harder not giving the patient space and understanding. PLEASE don’t do that to this woman. Forget that she is a princess. Think of her as any other mom of three juggling all of this and trying to have it impact her family as little as possible.
In short, please stop being such ignorant assholes.
