Very nice transcription--so beautiful ! 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 But way beyond my intermediate level. Do you have a sheet music transcription with something more simplified, yet still better than the other popular transcriptions?
Aside from the amazing talent and skills, the sound quality of your RUclips videos is astounding. I listen to these things with headphones on. Speechless.
Thanks so much, mlseim! The "piano" I'm playing is a virtual Yamaha CFX (9' concert grand) recorded in Abbey Road Studio One, where many of the most famous movie scores were recorded. I absolutely love this VST. My keyboard that triggers it is a Kawai MP8II, but I don't use the onboard sounds.
This feels to me as if I am standing on the first step of the staircase to heaven. Afraid to take the next step, Angels make their way down to meet me, to tell me not to be afraid; they take my hand, it felt warm and safe. I glided it seemed upwards. Angels surrounded me, smiling, love filled the air and a feeling of excitement filled me. I was no longer on the first step and I felt as light as a feather, at one 🎉🎉
Beautiful Charles! I believe you managed to do what you set out to achieve. Rich harmonies, staying close to the original’s feel and adding some of that Szczepanek pianistic virtuosity and magic. Looking forward to download and try this one, just need time to learn the Nessun Dorma arrangement first!
@@CharlesSzczepanek I got the techniques figured out and in my hands now but I'll need more time to settle it and bring it up to speed. Also how to make the most of the 'Vincero' passage. But it's on the to-do list.
@@nicholasasplund Don't overthink the Vincero passage! It's pretty much 4-3-2-1-2-3-4 over and over, with 4 jumping. Only one time that doesn't happen, and that's when the RH jumps a third to a D.
@@CharlesSzczepanek I tried that earlier but my hand flows better without the 4-4 jump following the D scale starting with 3-2-1-2-1-2-3-4-3-2-1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-3-1-2-3 and so on.
Wow Bravo 👏 for yo I feel like floating in the air while listening to your music..I really like this piece How.i wish I.can.play this piece just like the way you play it..thanks for sharing your talent. I'm a beginner in piano...
Phenomenal!!! You get so much better every time I hear you play!! The artist in me especially loved the video and how you worked the light and dark areas to define your hands and the keys! SO glad I can support your continued success!! Ruthann
Thank you, Ruthann! Always great to hear from you! It's not something that usually gets talked about here, but thinking about lighting (intensity, direction, hard vs soft, etc) is always a part of every video I shoot! I could never do it with pencil or a brush, but give me a few light bulbs and I'll work at making a beautiful scene!
Born pianist, with spider's long thin fingers, like Paganini's hands! More than this, his musical sense makes his music creative, like Mozart remaking Salieri's March of Welcome before the Emperor (AMADEUS).The piano version is not any less beautiful than the strings, he shows!
Technically Massenet was French, slightly prior to the impressionist period... but my arrangement you could say is influenced by Chopin and Rachmaninoff definitely... plus that one octave passage that's very reminiscent of the 4th page of the Liszt Sonata haha.
@@StephenSabrinaMusic it is! But since it’s public domain and I don’t need licensing to sell it, I can also sell it on my own webstore. The link in the description here goes to my store instead of Musicnotes because I only receive a fraction of the sale when Musicnotes sells a copy for me.
An absolutely smashing performance. Thank you. May I ask what VST you used to perform this piece in your recording?... When I reach a certain grade I hope to invest in a Kawai VPC-1 but move away from the Garritan Yamaha CFX I currently use on occasion as the VST.
Thanks, Mark! The Kawai digitals are really fantastic. I hope you are able to invest in your VPC-1 soon! Believe it or not, whenever I need a great classical VST tone, I go for the Garritan Yamaha CFX. That's what I used here. I keep looking at the new libraries that VSL releases and I just never love the tone they way I love this. I still recommend it to people who don't own it, even 10 years after its initial release.
@@CharlesSzczepanek Thank you for this information, Charles, it is very much appreciated as is your time. I can't get anywhere near the tonal quality out of the Garritan CFX VST as you have in your performance of that magical piece. Are you using any form of equalisation or what are your settings otherwise? No worries if you can't reply as I fully appreciate you're busy with far more important matters. Meanwhile, I've subscribed to your professional channel as the presentation format and content is very refreshing. Thank you.
@@MarkHopewell In short, yes, I don't only use the tone straight out of the VST. In a long answer: I also have worked for nearly 2 decades as a professional audio engineer, so not only have I amassed a great deal of experience working with audio, but I also own quite a lot of production tools, from hardware to plugins of every kind imaginable. My signal chain for piano is almost always the following (I'll follow up with specifics below): VST => EQ => Compression => Verb (in parallel) => Limiter I only ever use the default setup in the Garritan plugin and I leave the ambient and close mics evenly balanced. I've been using the ProQ3 by FabFilter as my main EQ for the last few years. That's exclusively what I've been using on piano lately, even though I have a TON of other choices at my disposal. It's a fantastic sounding and easy to use EQ plugin that doesn't break the bank. For compression, I only ever use a Manley Vari-Mu on piano recordings. I used to own the very pricey hardware version of it, but sold it 3 years ago and bought the UAD plugin version to replace it when I found I could get more pleasing acoustic response in the plugin than I was getting from my hardware. I add a touch of additional reverb from the Altiverb plugin, but really just a touch. Almost inaudible, but a pleasant extra bit of roundness. And lastly, I limit the recordings with the Pro L2, again from FabFilter. That's a lot of extra tools, but takes the tone from maybe 85% and really finishes it up nicely. And thanks for also watching the content on Pianist Academy!
@@CharlesSzczepanek And the post-VST audio processing certainly is evident in your performances - brilliant! Thank you for the very detailed reply, Charles. I will keep the technical details in my library for future reference for when/if I manage to arrive at Grade 6/7 here in the UK. My wife (Grade 8) says I should just keep going. Anyway, I very much appreciate the time you have taken to explain the details. I look forward to your future presentations. All the best.
