I lived on Kleine Geeststraat in Sterrebeek for three years when I was young. I went to BAS off Tramlaan. It was like a beautiful dream when I think back on it all. Moules au vin blanc, pomme frites, Dame Blanches and white chocolate from Leonidas in Le Grand Place were staples. There was a little town called Diegem that was so picturesque, so beautiful that even the ignorant American boy I was then remembers it now decades later with intense clarity. When I remember my time in Belgium, it brings tears of happiness to my eyes. I was very, very happy there. That was 1981-1984. I don't even know if the Belgium I remember and treasure so dearly exists anymore. Things are probably very different now. My memory of Belgium is probably just like a brief snapshot in time of a lost, magical place. But regardless, the Belgians were uniformly nice to me and I will never forget their kindness. I will always carry Belgium with me in my mind and heart until the day I die. Thank you, Belgium and Belgians! You have an eternal friend in me!

Can someone gives some background is joining as a regular, or part-time reservist ? I saw a video two years ago of Danish Royalty doing her military skills weekend.
She's not doing the full officers course .. this was the Military initiation phase in Elsenborn for the 1st year officer recruits .. that camp is like 6 weeks or something .. for the rest of her buddy's they will attend officers school for 4 to 5 years , she wont maybe she still get's a shorter 1 yr version since she will obtain her college degree in another country

helaas bestaat in Nederland scheiding der machten daardoor is onze vorstenhuis geen opperbevelhebber van leger meer wat ik zeer jammer vind. want dit soort werk wat je hier ziet zou elke troonopvolger tenminste moeten doen in mijn ogen! proficiat met jullie Elisabeth van België die komt er wel!
ajoh wil je terug naar een schavuit als Bernard ?! Doe niet zo naief ! Bovendien staat ook in België de koning onder ministeriële verantwoordelijkheid (Volgens mij vat je 'scheiding der machten' niet..). Trouwens ook de oranjes gaan doorgaans onder de wapenen..
België heeft ook de scheiding der machten, vrij wel alle moderne democratieën hebben dit, onze vorst is traditioneel en historisch gezien gewoon de opperbevelhebber van het leger, het is doorheen de tijd nooit echt veranderd. Het geeft aan dat de koning zijn verantwoordelijkheid neemt in het beschermen van het vaderland en eensgelijk dat het leger in naam van de koning optreedt.
Wat misschien wel anders is dan bij jullie is dat elke soldaat een eedaflegging tegenover de koning moet afleggen en natuurlijk ook tegenover het vaderland, jullie hebben waarschijnlijk wel een eedaflegging maar ik ben niet zeker of dat ook tegenover de koning is.
Wel grappig want family van mij heeft de prinses en starf gegeven en die zat ook in haar class wel tof om nu zo te zien

The Mess Uniform of the Belgian Army Academy is really nice. Colours that are military but have a relaxing tone to them or that might be the same just look different (lighter in shade) indoors.

Can someone gives some background is joining as a regular, or part-time reservist ?
I saw a video two years ago of Danish Royalty doing her military skills weekend.
She's not doing the full officers course .. this was the Military initiation phase in Elsenborn for the 1st year officer recruits .. that camp is like 6 weeks or something .. for the rest of her buddy's they will attend officers school for 4 to 5 years , she wont maybe she still get's a shorter 1 yr version since she will obtain her college degree in another country
Poor girl it’s hard enough being that age going through basic training without having cameras on you. She did most of it with a smile on her face.
