Who also knew he was going much faster on the 250 by just watching him in the first 2 corners
Funny, was going to write the same thing. Literally could tell within 5 secs he was faster. That one slow right hander probably saved a half sec alone. He almost stopped on the 450 and hardly slowed down on the 250
No it’s like he’s purposely going quicker on the 250
Yeah for sure. It does seem like that track is a 250 track also, much more technical.
@@fauxza320 I think the 450 may just be too big for him. He definitely appears more comfortable on the 250
Yeah I was going to say the same thing but imagine if he was that comfortable on the 450
Dude ride the 250 your just so much faster you can toss it around more and just push it harder into everything. Your looking great tho the progress has been insane from last year keep it up
This video is all about 1 thing.....confidence.
Yes i think too, because if you compare the timers there is 1 second and an half between the 250 and the 450. On the 250 he earn this second because he is more confident, that's also why on camera it looks faster on the 250.
I’m not trying to sound like a hater but your more comfortable on the 250 because you ride it more .
Not that much in it, would be interesting what the 450 lap times would be with the forks and shock from the 250 put on the 450.
I was thinking the same thing
Totally agree, good handling is worth more than power, I reckon a day on the 450 with the race suspension and he would kill it=another vid time jwalk 👊🏻
Different Valving
He's still on super cross suspension on the 250 tho.
Best example of this holding him back would be 7:13 vs 11:37
Being able to just carelessly go fast enough to almost flatland is definitely a huge time saver
Awesome watching your onboard vids, and seeing the progress you're making dude! Keep it up, we're rooting for you homie!
ya and honestly which ever you have more fun on! always remember its about having fun, pick the one is more fun and best luck brotha!
JWalk. I just read a comment above about how a guy found you from TikTok. I’d recommend posting clips on that platform. Will definitely help your growth a lot. Keep rippin dude
Yeah, except TikTok is gay
Apex disease tik tok is the best way to get viral fast
New subscriber here. Gave up riding 10yrs ago and dont watch mx much anymore. Idk how I found this channel but Im really enjoying your videos. Great commentary on your riding and what you’re feeling out there. You do a good job connecting with the audience. Rooting for you to do well. Thx again for the great content.
Great job JWALK! I could tell just buy watching you were rippin on the 250! Keep up the great work!
I'm curious to see how you would do in the 450 with the race suspension and a couple more sessions on it. You look blatantly more comfortable on the 250, but that's a hard comparison against a bike with a completely different setup. After that I'd scrub the average lap times of both classes, compile data, make educated decision on which class to ride. Having fun on the bike is great, but so is scoring points. (Full disclosure, I've never scored points. If I'm hanging with mid pack local C riders, I'm cracking a beer on the way home 😂)
Bet this'll be another banger vid. Keep em coming jeff🤘
Since I was about 12 years old I've wanted to ride motocross and never got a chance. I'm 47 now and you make me want to go buy one watching these.
If you can afford it, do it! Best sport ever!
Lets do it
I bought a 700 raptor a couple weeks ago. I really struggled with buying a 250 four stroke bike or 4wheeler. I'm seriously considering taking the Raptor back and getting a bike.
Do it man! I'm your same age. Been riding for 20+ years but only started making a focused effort to go faster in the last couple years, it's fun. It's never too late to start but I think it's better to learn technique while you're still young enough to heal, which we are, sort of.
Learning to lean over and rail through a corner rut is very satisfying when you nail it.
Dude I bet you would freaking fly on a 350!! I’d love you see your lap times on one. If you are faster on a 350 than you are on a 250, that would be a good option. Race the 350 in the 450 class. Starts would be harder but it’s pretty easy to get a 350 to the power numbers of a 450.
Wish they would build the track back up and make it difficult again. Its been tame since mammoth qualifiers. Make Pala Great Again.
step up needs to be brought back too
Rode there last time I was in California about 4 months ago and it was way different, kinda cool how in Cali some places got multiple tracks for different skill levels/ages. We don't have that out east for the most part, tons of local tracks have shut down past 10 years
Bring the 08 track back lol
Great Video, real test would be to put the suspension from the 250 back on the 450
I've been watching you for 2 years since you were riding a 1-2-5
Great test (as always) between the 2 bikes. It seems like you have way more fun on the 250 (especially on that kind of track) and so you enjoy riding it harder.
But to be fair: at the moment you are more used to ride the 250 and the suspension was better on it (at that day)..
I would love to see you on the 250 BUT as you mentioned, as a privateer you will maybe have a bigger disadvantage against some other riders because of engine power....🤷♂️....and that problem is too expensive to fix !
So I think you should try the 450vs.250 again with equal suspension and then..... you have another Video for us 😉 (and the the real winner).
My guess is the 250, let’s see if I’m right
?
@@totonueve4202 “which bike am I faster on?”
Wow you was flying on the 250 man defo see you getting some top 10s riding like that keep it up dude 🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻
Attacking the track so hard on the 250. Hope to see that same energy on the 450 this outdoors season!
If I were you, I'd go with the 250 series. It looks faster and more aggressive but also more controlled with the 250. 🤔🔥🍀
And it sounds better tbh
@@reedtarted1932 are you talking about the bike sounding better?
@@tylercrimmins15 yeah
waaaay better on the 250, not only because of the speed also because you look a lot more confident than on the 450. Love your videos man. I wish you all the luck on the outdoors. Greetings from argentina
Real question is, which one do you have more opportunity to qualify on. I personally think the 250 but your killing it on both !!
LOVE THE VIDS MAN!!! I Subscribed and follow you on insta!!! Keep it up!
Definitely look faster on the 250!! Good luck with which ever one you choose. Hope to see you at Redbud this year!
As odd as it is, watching your videos has encouraged me to try the local track out. You make it look easy and smooth.... Lol
Don’t care how fast or slow the lap times are… it’s great fun to watch regardless !!!
was actually very much expecting to see a 450 vs. 350 comparison... I would assume not much difference on a hot lap but maybe in a long 30+2 moto a smaller cc engine would show its advantage? any way awesome video as always
So glad I found this channel from TikTok it’s so satisfying watching Jeff rip
I watched his first supercross video and I'm so glad I found him!!
@@sidneydupuy9933 that’s the same one I watched first to lol
Time difference was in corner entrance speed. Looked alot more confident/comfortable going into the turns and carrying the speed through the corner. Awesome job Jeff
Yep, and races are won in the corners.
You are a monster on that 250 🔥😮
I'd of been happy with the hour long video of raw gopro Jwalk! Tracks in the UK not open yet! But hoping to be end of the month to get ripping. 250 sounds unrealllll
great vid as always jeff, but good suspension on a smooth track and a 250 I could see your corner speed was way higher. But in the deep gnarly nationals wont that 450 help get you on top of the rough stuff and overall be faster?
You’re just insane thanks for the videos
You definitely look more comfortable on a 250, when are you coming to Australia to ride?
the weather there is insane😂each time u went out looked like a different day
Jeff I would love to see this comparison with the suspension swapped, I want to see you race 250's but if you're getting a 1:39 on both bikes there could be a good enough reason to stay racing 450's.
Alot of comments mention you being more 'flowy' on the 250 and held back alot on the 450 (not flat landing the jumps at 11:37 for eg), I believe this is due to the suspension not the difference between 250 vs 450.
I think if the track conditions get rougher just like at the nationals you would still be beter off on the 450...my opinion but either way still going to be cheering for you bud all the way from 🇧🇪!
I think a lot of it is mental, u probably tried harder knowing you were on a smaller bike and it makes more noise which makes u mentally ready to race. Go with what your comfortable on and stay safe!! Great video btw 👍
It looked like you were having more fun on the 250. And it sounded like the 450 wanted to go faster and kill you. Great video!
Let’s go jwalk looking good
I don't know if its just me but, I feel like Jeff has made a huge improvement from last year
Yeah you are looking pretty comfy on the 250 I’d go with that mate👍
Dude on the 250 it looks like you attack the track and are more comfortable pushing your limits...you blew my mind man you’re railing🤘🏻
Great video !! I always wondered about this I used to ride 125 2 stroke and one day I spent the day on a 250 2 stroke and I didnt feel near as fast because the 250 was heavier and less agile so ever since then I was curious. I havent ridden in years and when I did was mostly crappie home track so I was thinking about buying a brand new bike and almost jumped straight into a 450 but your video answers my question doesnt seem like theres enough difference for what I plan to use it for so I think I'll either go with new us 125 or 250f
I'd love to see the 350 in the mix ... Great video !
But with a 350 .. that would be very interesting !
What are the lap times 15mins in your moto? You run a 1:39 half way on the 250? What bike do you have the most consistent lap times during a moto on? Keep up the hard work!
U are way smoother on the 250 !! 👌🏾💯
lets gooo new vid baby
For sure better suspension and it will be faster on the 450, but how much more fun looking is the 250 lap!! Like ripping a 125 you can throw around. Good vid
18:23 for final times
Day 10 of cheering on Jeff: GO JEFF!
Had to help the other guy out.
Your mid-corner roll is so much better on the 250. That was the first thing I noticed.
it’s funny when vets post on facebook: “selling my 250 for a 450, 250 is just to slow”. like nah ur just not smooth!!
Most vets are over 200 pounds , big difference bud
When you get older it's easier to work more hours and buy power than It is to train and practice a bunch just to still be a mediocre moto guy. Hell, I figured that out in my mid 20s
I don’t think anyone says that they are not fast, you just have to work twice as hard to go that fast..
I think you should race on the 250 cause you have more time on it this year
Dude is flying on the 250. hell yeah
When I was a kid racing for a shop they had me practicing on an open bike (450 ) and race a 125 , that’s when the 125 class was the king, man I could throw that 125 around like a toy, then I moved up to the 250 class and did the same seemed like it worked for me
Suspension makes a huge difference too but Jeff does look a lot more comfy on the 250
Retry the test with the suspension the same on both bikes, those faster 250 times may be a reflection of the suspension being set up more to your liking. You have time, to do this for a couple of weeks just to see which suits you better as you're mostly conditioning right now. Just make sure the suspension is set up the same for both bikes.
Dude! You look way more comfortable on the 250! You're man handling that thing. I have a yz450f and a ktm 250 sxf. I love the 250. It handles so well. My 2 cents: race the 250. I will be cheering you on for the outdoors.
Don't forget the fatigue aspect of it too, if you struggle to keep up the pace on the 450, maybe the 250 is the better option regardless of fastest lap times.
Corners!
On the 250 you showed more confidence...
Maybe I'm wrong but, I also think, that on 450 you're keep to much longer with the same gear.
It's only a feeling of mine...😘👍
I was there at fox and he was wayyy faster on the 250
Way to rip out there! With factors like the better suspension on the 250, or maybe jumps on the outdoor pro tracks that maybe you couldn't make on the 250 do you think you would actually be faster on it at the nationals? Or maybe even the 250 might be easier in the conners at the real rough national tracks and that would make up for it? So many factors to think about 😅
The difference is confidence. On the 450, you got on the throttle out of the corner later and also weren't attacking the jumps nearly as hard, to the point you landed slightly short on some of the tables. Could just be the differences in suspension but you seem far more confident with the 250 than the 450.
Definitely the suspension, I want to see this comparison again with the suspension swapped before he jumps to a conclusion
@@addisonburn8508 yeah I fully agree. With a good suspension setup the confidence is definitely there. The 450 is definitely the faster bike, just depends on the rider at that point. The suspension is crucial to a riders success, more so than the engine.
Lets GOOOOOOO!!!!!!! 250 baby!!!!!!!!!
Dang dude. Attacking but with flow on that 250. Can’t believe you ride the same bike as me 🤦♂️😂😂
good shit jeff ur killing it. u going to washougal this year?! i can film for u if wanted or needed, free of charge of course. just wanna help a mans out
Good job
For sure you are a 450 guy considering how tall you are. But, with that sad, this year the 450 field is the strongest we've ever seen probably, so there's a lot less spot for privateers this year. But also 250 is wild, I mean, those kids switch off the brain for 30 min and turn into beasts. Thats a gamble dude, by the video you are so much faster on the 250, but I'm also corious to see you train on the 450 for a bit more and see what happens. Time will show up. Until now, have fun, rip as wild as you can, train and God bless you dude.
Much love 🇮🇹💪
Would be curious to see where your comfort level is on the 450 with the stiffer set up.
Hey man watched your videos for a little while now.. be cool to maybe see one more in depth high speed turning?
Ver impressive on the 250, however not apples to apple comparison - different suspension - that being said - these 450's are arm yankers an harder to control for sure . . . . . many years ago I was out with my friends. Battling my old Maico 250 around the track - and not having a smooth day at all. A friend of mine kept wanting me to ride his RM125. I got on that thing and after a lap or two I started wicking it. Rode that bike much better . . . . rode about four laps, then all the guys on 250 stated chasing me. Held them off for three . . . then I go tired . .
I’m not a pro or anything. Just want to tell you what has come to mind. The conditions on that track look pretty good. Wouldn’t it be more realistic to make the decision on a track like Glen Helen when it’s all beat up? Maybe you would like the suspension a little softer then and maybe you would get through the track a lot better on the 450. Just want you to make the best decision so I thought I would put it out there.
I thought the difference was more by watching. That 250 was just singing! I have a 2018 SXF 450 and now also a 2020 SXF 250. 450 is a great bike, but I LOOOOOVVEEE the 250.
If you start riding hard and actually trying to attain a race pace and set a goal of being as close to the top times as you can that’s going to get you a lot farther. I’m sure a lot of the laid back riding style is to not end up injured but if you really want to do moto being timid won’t get you there.
I’m not talking down to him (I’m sure other supporters will say something stupid in reply to this) it’s just that facts are facts. 90% of being fast in moto is the rider. Granted bike builds will make a massive difference against factory riders in certain aspects but if you can’t ride with the same level of talent you won’t ever see yourself with them.
You seemed to flow better in the turns on the 250. Particularly the right turn around the 0:50 mark (of the lap timer).
Where it’s obvious you’re faster on the 250, it’s only by a subtle second, maybe second and a half and it looks like you’re pushing so much harder to get that second and a half. I can tell you’re more comfortable on the 250 but I think the 450 is the move; my guess is you could probably do more consistent laps on the 450 for longer whereas on the 250 you’d probably be gutted after 10-15 minutes pushing that much harder to gain a second a lap. Huge fan, not hating at all, just constructive criticism. Can’t wait to see you racing this summer good luck JWalk!
Maybe the gopro doesn’t do justice, but the track look less ruff than the AMA outdoors. You should do the same test on very ruff track to really know. The light weight of the 250 can help, the the power of the 450 can help in hard conditions too
Jeff, what is your solution to arm pump? I run 5 miles everyday, so my cardio isn’t what’s killin me when I’m at the track. It’s my arms! I’ve heard not to do arm exercises, but I watched a video a while back of your favorite workouts and it seemed they included arm exercises. Seems like you can ride forever, so that’s why I’m asking you.
450's are just a beast of a bike man. First time I sat on one it blew me away lol the bike just wants to go go go. Stick with the 250 man. You seem way more comfortable on it. The 250 will do everything a 450 can do but with much more ease of control. You can just tell the difference of your cornering from the 450 and the 250.
The problem is that even if you are faster on the 250, the factory 250 bikes are so much better than a production bike.
It's not just the suspension and handling, they make way more hp as well.
The 450's are more focused on handling because even a stock 450 makes more hp than you really need.
I think it is clear the the 250 is the way to go this year. Suits your riding style more; (Wide Open)
I think you need to ride the 250 for outdoors this year, set it up and make it nice
You look so much more comfortable and quick on the 250. It makes me want to get a 250 now 😂😂😅😅bye 450 thanks to Jeff
Same Suspension on both bikes would be great to see
250 for sure faster on. And more confident with putting the power on earlier on the 250 on the inside lines compared to the inside lines on the 450 massive difference dude keep it up awesome rider!!
There were 2 corners that you took the inside line on the 250, true comparison if you take the same lines.
250 fo sure
Great video, what camera you're using, and what fps and res you're using? thanks in advanced
You on the 250f looks like me coming from my 250 2t to my 125 lol
Looks like a lot more fun on the 250
I also think you need to consider the overall race time. Think about how many people fade in the last 5 minutes of the race - this is where you can make the easy passes and get into the points. Which bike will you be faster on after 25 minutes on the roughest track in the world? I'd say probably the 250?
Suspension was such a significant difference here haha
You look so good on the 250. Id go with the 250
This video is so cool
Will it not make a difference if you switch the suspension from bike to bike and then re test? Easier said than done I know. Hi from Scotland 🏴 hope the hand is doing better
The only way you'll get faster on the 450 is more seat time. Your fast af bro. Amazing rider for sure.
You look and feel way more comfortable in the 250 than the 450. Your ride is way more smooth in the 250. Might be the time to put in the 250 al these months but it is what it looks like. You are more loose, more reactive and more natural in the 250
