I’m honestly so confused how you’re just now about to hit 25k subs. I usually share your videos with my siblings & close friends cause I’ve learned so much from you. Spencer, keep it up man!
Wow, that really means a lot man! I truly appreciate you a ton. All I care about is helping people make more memories with loved ones or put some money back in their pockets, so no matter how many subs we have, as long as I can do that, I'm happy. Thank you so much for the support!
Congrats on hitting 25K, brother! I'll be looking forward to your 25k livestream! Looks like you have a pretty good travel card strategy going into 2025. I think my strategy for next year will be on getting some Marriott cards and probably getting some cards from Wells Fargo, PNC and Bank of America. Nothing is set in stone yet, but Credit card strategies and roadmaps are definitely subject to change.
You're awesome John! Your support throughout this journey has truly meant more than you know. Thank you so much! And you're 100% right about roadmaps being subject to change. I like what you're gunning for right now, but if this need to get updated, that's completely fine! As always, I look forward to hearing what cards you end up adding.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's crazy to me that we're so close to that milestone and it means a lot that you've spent so much time in the community.
Hey Spencer- if you are willing to take domestic flights on American , please take a look at transferring your Bilt points to Alaska and book American partner flights in the Alaska app. It’s totally OP.
I'll definitely look more into that in the future! I've never flown Alaska in my life or created an account with them or anything, but I definitely need to consider that option.
I’ve used my Marriott CC a lot this year. Having also signed up for the 5 free nites (already used them), it seems there’s a Marriott most everywhere I’ve looked. Kinda convenient. Recently used Chases 50% points transfer. Everyone chats up Hyatt (which I like) but Marriott has been where I needed a property in recent travels
Still better to book SW flights on points. Flights change prices and the full difference of the points is returned back and no worrying about tracking flight credits.
Great video! Unsurprisingly, you and I are on a similar trajectory with our card choices. Now that I’ve hit gold status with Bilt, that card is going to take a backseat to the Premium Trifecta setup I’m about to run during this gardening season. Sprinkle on a little Amazon Business and Apple Card for one off purchases.
Thank you so much Kel! It sounds like you've got an awesome plan going for yourself. That Amex trifecta can be super valuable in the right hands, so I'm excited to hear how useful it is to you during this gardening phase.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Oh no, the "Premium Trifecta" is the VentureX, Sapphire Reserve, and AMEX Platinum. 😅 I'm testing that name out to see if it sticks.
Another reason you might want to upgrade your Boundless to the Ritz-Carlton card is the $300 travel credit (easy to use on upgrades fwiw). But I would also argue that you should hold off so you don't lock yourself out of Amex Marriott card bonuses.
As always, a very informative video with lots of information for people who are both new to the credit card game and those of us who are a little bit more seasoned. Strategy #4 is my favorite, because using different airline alliances lets you access different airlines. Pairing this with those transfer bonuses you mentioned and you can easily take a welcome bonus and multiply the value of those points in different ways. Love your content. - Ivan
Thank you so much for the kind words as always man! I'm really glad you see value in these videos for credit card beginners and experts alike. That's always my goal! As for the strategies, I definitely hope to utilize airline alliances more in 2025, so stay tuned!
I've definitely considered it! I've been working on an idea comparing a cashback setup with all cashback invested vs a travel dedicated setup, so that should be a fun one.
I'd look into status matching as the responses to this comment suggested. Then you can use any of the popular travel cards with car rental status to help you out there.
You have mentioned in previous videos that you are considering cancelling/downgrade your Capital One Venture X , but now is in your 2025 Credit Card Strategy. Did you still in the position to cancel in 2025 the Venture X or you decided to keep it? As long is not get nerfed in the near future I think is a keeper card
Still undecided on that, but with them extending the Hertz PC status, I may keep it. Either way the strategy remains the same if I downgrade it. The only thing that may differ is what catch-all card I use, but that's all.
Congrats on 25k 🎉. I have a question, do you know if the Chase bank offers for opening accounts with them can be earned as Chase UR points instead of cash?
I really appreciate that! It's crazy to think we're already at such an awesome milestone all thanks to you guys. To answer your question, it's always been deposited as cash for me in the past rather than UR points and I don't believe there's a way to change that, unfortunately.
I’m surprised the USBAR isn’t on your plan for next year! I’m assuming it’s because you already have a catch all card with the Venture X but man is the card a game changer! I mainly pair it with my Chase Quadfecta (I include Bilt lol)
It's more of a late game card for me, so I'm not in a rush to get it. However, as mentioned below, it's looking like it may get discontiuned very soon which is sad to see.
My Plan for 2025 Travel is to take my venture points and cover them for an Airbnb stay in Ireland. I might split the rest with my cousin's. Then, book a plane ticket for a minimum of $1200. Amex point's I am going to transfer in a few years I am going to save them up. possibly about 50-75k. Just got the CSP going to take the 300 dollar credit and use it for Arizona (Rental Car). i will save those points up for a mega trip to California next year. Possibly if my Steelers play in Arizona same time my Phillies play this year, I have A) my Delta Gold $100 dollar stay credit and or my Hilton $50 credit a quarter. Possibly book a flight to Phoenix using Delta. Or I will book a cheap Southwest Amercian since they are hubs. I have 116k in delta points I Used about 26k to go to Atlanta this year. I like to use my Delta miles to see the Steeler's/Phillies if they are playing in a Delta hub city.
When I go to Ireland, i will fly to America or Delta. I will put a portion on my Amex Gold by a Delta Gift card via grocery store and get 4x instead of 3x and the rest on a Chase so I can up my Anniversary %. When I go to Arizona, i will probably do the same thing with Southwest.
That's awesome to see you have such an ironed out plan! Having redemptions already lined up for the future and knowing you're getting value you're comfortable with is ideal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Nowell!
Do business cards have their own 5/24? I know they don’t show up on personal credit reports, but at what point can banks limit business card applications?
All cards abide by certain application rules, business or not, it just depends on the lender and your credit profile. Having a high velocity of applications can definitely decrease your odds of being approved aside from the main negatives being any negative remarks on your credit report and such.
Aside from getting a card directly with the cruiseline you travel the most with, I'd probably just get a card with a high general travel earning category and some good protections on it.
No, it can only be used with bookings made directly through SW. I was discussing using the Chase portal and my CSR whenever I book a SW flight without using the Companion Pass. EDIT: Another commenter mentioned the following: "Note I’ve booked SW flights thru Chase and still been able to add a companion". And after confirming with them, you actually CAN use the portal and still add a Companion after the fact, so that's pretty awesome. I'll have to do some tests before sharing it with the public tho.
@mattbateh8717 Could try using it for United travel bank. Buy an upgraded ticket then refund for airline credit. Reward flight taxes. You’re right not travel credit*

Rakuten does the same thing (at least for restaurants and in store purchases) and you can redeem it in MR points, so even more spending power in the Amex world. Bilt restaurants are usually 3%, but Rakuten does it at 5%

Is there a credit card that gives Enterprise rental car status? I wouldn’t take a car from Hertz if it was free. They have way too many legal issues
