Sunnah of the prophet means the EXAMPLE of the Prophet SAW. Some of those examples are Fard, Wajib, Sunnah Muakkadah, Sunnah Ghayr Muakkadah, and Mustahab. Sunni Muslims follow these sunnan, and individual actions fall into different categories depending on the opinion of the scholar you follow. Hope that clears it up
