What a lovely video. Your children are so blessed to have a mama so patient and creative. You are making wonderful memories for your children that they will never forget. I so enjoy your videos. Thank you and God bless you and your family ❤️
I always remember the smell of Downy and fresh clean laundry. I miss my childhood so much. I miss times when my folks were stronger. I miss when we were all staying in one house.
I always look forward to your videos and have been a subscriber for your entire time on YT. I look forward to them each week. I have missed your more one on one with the camera and am not fond of your voiceovers as they seems less personal to me and scripted. Your day in the life are fun to watch when you share with the camera. I also miss you! Now that you are posting once a week, it is such a long time to wait between your videos. I sure hope you will be doing VETA this year. I have actually been watching your previous year VETA videos and am on the season where you are pregnant with Jude. Such a joy to watch your children and you engage. See you next week. Take care.
The video are not only informative but also uplifting, reminding us of the joy and fulfillment that comes from creating a harmonious living environment.
I like your book recommendations. Do you use Goodreads? I find it's a good way to keep track of what I read. I will recommend to you My Dark Vanessa by, Kate Elizabeth Russell. It's a few years old but very good and worth checking out if you haven't read it.
I was diagnosed with uterine cancer the same week i got engaged 16 years ago. I can't have children, but you are the mother i would have loved to be. I love the homemaking part though and taking care of myhusband, my home and my pets.
Thank you for the video!! Love what you said about how one way to add beauty to laundry is a beautiful laundry basket and nice smelling detergent.. what a positive spin on something so many easily complain about! I also am minimal with mine and my kids wardrobe and that helps in the laundry department as well in my opinion! 😁 have a great Thursday, and a great Palm Sunday weekend! 😊
I love seeing you young mothers able to stay at home and take care of the homemaking and children. When I had my 2nd one in 1989, we tried letting me stay home, but with a house payment and bills I needed to go back to work. It was rough, my husband and I worked different shifts in order to save a little on childcare as both our parents were much older and young kids were a lot for them to handle all day, lol!
My kids are grown with kids of their own now but I love watching your videos because that was the life I had with my family just outside of Boston and I left it and miss it even now you do a wonderful job
Good morning Hilary. What a lovely video 😊. I am blessed to have many, many simple happy memories from my childhood ☺️. Hope you have a wonderful day!🕊️🌷
So sweet Hilary. I don't remember any "house smells" from when I was small, but one of my besties always came in and said how good our house smelled. Every time she came down. I need to get her over to my moms now and see if she can still smell that scent from her childhood memories. There were ALWAYS cooking smells I remember. At 90, she still cooks well. xoxTXDeb
Thanks for sharing your Chosen brand mayo. Sadly it has rosemary, which I’m allergic to, but it re-initiated my search for a clean, dairy-free, coconut oil free mayo alternative I can have with my crazy diet restrictions. I’m on the westside in Los Angeles, so there are endless resources and I finally found one! Will soon be replicating your chicken salad.
I feel so seen watching you repainting your trim. I’ve been doing this around the house and the feeling of fresh trim just calms my mind as I’m walking around not noticing the scuffs and scratches and buildup on the top of the trim. Thank you for this.
My great memories from childhood are from the smell of fresh milk being strained in the morning, the chickens while gathering eggs, oatmeal for breakfast, and then walking with my brothers to the bus stop. 😊❤
It’s true my most favourite memory i have as a kid, is my mother reading to me before bed, and for some reason the book that always comes to mind is Alice in wonderland, i wish you’d been around when i was a young mom Hilary, you make so much sense, in a world at the moment which sometimes feels chaotic, Thankyou Hilary for making it brighter xx
I was so glad to see your top loader washer. Ours broke last weekend, and the sales person almost talked us into getting not only a new washer but dryer because he said front loaders were the only way to go. My husband and I talked in the car, and went to another store and there was a wonderful salesperson there who said that there are many wonderful toploaders. It has worked great this week. I love the smell of fresh laundry!
As a preschool teacher i would like to suggest letting your son cut out his own lettter for his book. They many not be perfect but that even more of the beauty of the special letter book to look back at.
As a retired preschool teacher, I agree. Scissor skills are so important. Where I worked, kindergarten readiness had a cutting exercise as part of the testing process. Curves and circles are really hard for small hands!
I've been inspired by how you prioritize your tasks. My kids are all teens now but I am still homeschooling the youngest 2 so no naps or quiet times anymore. This January I started giving myself weekly tasks because of your inspiration. One of my projects was painting a powder room. That one took me 3 weeks total because I chose to do it during a very busy time. Other weeks it was a simple of finishing off some paperwork I had been putting off. This week my tasks were to finish my 2024 scrapbook and order garden seeds. I digital scrapbook each year and have it printed. It has made me feel so much more cheerful about winter here in Central Canada.
Your videos are lovely and also full of useful tips and information I can apply in my homemaking. Do you add salt when you make your peanut butter or do you just buy salted peanuts? I want to try this! Thank you again for your inspiring content.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼❤️🙋🏻♀️ I remember when I was little feeling safe at home with my parents, loving my school and friends and the smell of bacon and eggs and fresh bread on Sundays after church.
Love your videos of daily life, so relatable. Favorite childhood memory, we took 4 week vacations every other summer and visited national parks, lakes, beaches, etc. Miss my boys when they were littles, so fun to see yours. I recently touched up the paint on the inside of the house. We plan on painting the interior later in the year. I love that painting is the cheapest way to refresh your home! Be blessed this Palm Sunday.🌿💗
Hey hillary.. such a great and inspiring video.. I was wondering if you could expand on quiet time for your son.. my youngest turned 2 in February and he is FIGHTING laying down for nap.. he used to sleep so well. I would still like some time to myself.. how did you incorporate quiet time or what do you do? Thank you!!
It has always just been a natural progression from baby/toddler-hood into the pre-k years. We would go from 2-3 naps a day, down to two, down to one in the afternoon and it just continues to this day. It's simply about routine, they know that's what we do and it's expected, and like I mentioned my toddler is definitely tired and ready to sleep. It's not always perfect every day, nothing ever is, but my preschooler knows during that time he can do something independently (play doh, legos, play outside, play in the basement, color, scribble scrubby, listen to an audiobook, occasionally have some screen time) or he is welcome to rest as well (he almost never chooses this option but then falls asleep in the car on the way to school pick up of course ;) It's just habit and routine really, they know it happens every day, and as a mom, it is a crucial part of our afternoons! 💛
@@OldWorldHome thanks for the information!! (Even though it wasn’t my comment you replied to i still find this insightful!) how long do your quiet times last? Just as long as the youngest naps?
It may be more Quiet Time than actual Nap/Sleeping Time during this period..but that is fine too! One idea is to have "special quiet time toys' that only come out during Quiet Time, to make them special, and for something for your son to look forward to...that he WANTS quiet time, because then he is allowed to play with _______. Make sure that outside time, running around is right in the morning... so that he is tired in the afternoon for quiet time.
Ok, serious question: have you ever had your baking dish shatter when taking it straight from thr fridge into the hot oven? I don't prep meals ahead of time because I'm terrified of that.
I actually enjoy the flavor but I also like it really cold, so I’ll mix it up and put it in the fridge for an hour or so, or overnight, and find I enjoy it very cold!

You are a mama about 8 years "behind" me (my oldest is 18 🥹) and yet with each of your videos I walk away inspired to be a better homemaker, mother & wife. God Bless you!! P.S. Have you heard about the new book "Rising Boys to Men" by Durenda Wilson? Seems like it would just bolster your confidence in the direction you are already raising those dear boys! I know it has for me!!!

Lovely video, very soothing. I always look forward to your notifications. TY

Ong Finn is just the cutest!!! What a blessing he is ❤
What brand of laundry detergent do you use?
Arm & Hammer with oxiclean 💛 Simple, but smells amazing!

No that's never happened to me, but I will sometimes put the dish in while the oven is preheating 💛
you should walkways take a dish out of the fridge 30 minutes before putting in a hot oven to prevent shattering
Enjoyed ur video,
That was a great intro, so true! I tried AG1 but its so hard to get down, any tips?
A squeeze of lemon

To me it tastes fruity and a bit like bubble gum, of course the "greens" taste is also there but very mild in my opinion 💛
