This is a song about children who grow up abused, without love. Then meeting this dog that gives UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. They also sing about dandelion flowers, maskrosor. Maskrosbarn is a word for people that survive despite a dark childhood. 🌼
Goddamn this brings me back, listening to this as a child, with my mother, who is still abusive to this day... This song gave me serious hope as a small child.
Your favourite lady here is Josefin Nilsson. She was brilliant. RIP. You MUST react to Ainbusk Singers song Älska mig. She sings that song from the bottom of her heart and you will love it, I promise you.
The woman with the beautiful voice is Josefin Nilsson who lived in a abusive relationship with a famous actor and later died in a tragical way. Listen to Älska mig, she sings so amazing, from her heart.
This is a terribly sad, but also incredibly hopeful, song. As an adult it makes me cry everytime I hear it. It's about an unloved, abused child that finds comfort and hope in Lassie. Even find the courage to carry on and grow up, despite everything, in that fictional dog. I had a happy childhood, but I (and I guess most people) can still relate to both the dark and the hopeful emotions in this song. I can still remember how important fictional characters could be for me, how scary life could seem at times. A very well made song indeed!
Even children who are not abused can be scared, of monsters and war and death. I (strangely, for a lyrics nerd) have only ever really listened to the refrain, so now that I listened to it all, I started crying for the child. I came here to listen to it because yesterday I met the loveliest Westie puppy on my way home (he stood on his hind legs to kiss me and I had to hold my arm against his back so that he would not fall over, and when we said goodbye, he looked backwards, for as long as we saw each other, so that he stumbled along) and I was so exhilarated that I giggled half my way home and sang "Jag mötte Ludvig" the other half (on a bicycle - no one heard me, so I don't think I came across as too weird). I mitt hjärta kändes lov'.
There's a really beautiful and sad documentary about Josefin Nilsson and the memoirs she never got to publish herself. She was abused by her partner for many years, another Swedish celebrity, and that broke her down both physically and mentally. It's called "Josefin Nillson - Älska mig för den jag är" and takes It's name from the heartfelt song with the same title.
Benny Andersson - who I think was playing the accordion in the video clip - always have had a likening for Salvation Army songs. It is very noticeable in this tune!
I have heard that this song is about childrens vulnerability and how much sadnes and awfil shit that can happen i a childs life. Its about how those "little" things such as a friendly dog i a childs life can make such a big difference when they have been exposed to very difficult hardship, like incest and other abuse.
So, Ainbusk is "enbuske" in the Gotlandic dialect. Enbuske beeing the Swedish word for juniper. Gotland beeing kind of famous for having a sh#it load of juniper all over the island...
Wishlist: One More Time - either "den vilda" (in swedish) or "Highland" (english) Arja Saijonmaa - " Högt över havet" Gemeni - "Mio min Mio" Stefan Sundström & Apache - "Amors Pilar"
Jonathan. The expression "jag mötte Lassie" when you accidentally run into a celeb actually has its origin in the title of this song. I think it was a column in a newspaper where people could send their stories about meeting famous people and as a joke they called the column "jag mötte Lassie"
Josefin had the most amazing album in 1993 called shapes. Written by Benny and Björn. It’s what could have been an ABBA album had they reformed at that time.
Alright, I took a trip down memory lane (aka your list) aaand... I may or may not have tipped you about a couple of songs that you'd already listened to 😆 I found most of the titles I expected to find but some classics seems to be missing, for example "Omåomigen" by Pelle Almgren, "Svordomsvisan" with Magnus och Brasse, "Bara sport" by Galenskaparna och After Shave, Sonya Hedenbratts "Sofie Propp" and "Nunnorna" from Hasse Alfredsson och Tage Danielssons cabaret Gula Hund. And now for some semi-classics, sort of. For Swedish trad/folk music I would recommend "Gamen" by Garmarna and Sofia Karlssons interpretation of "Jag väntar..." written by the renowned poet Dan Andersson. Linda Piras hip hop take of Mats Paulsons "Visa vid vindens ängar" is worth a listen even though it is nothing like the original. I also have to mention First Aid Kit, If you've somehow managed to miss them. Prepare to get mindblown by this duo that is contemporary but timeless. "The Lions Roar" is probably their most recognised song. Thanks. This was fun, keep it up!
I don't know if you accidentally used the wrong word, or if it was a concious mistake based on a misconception. Gotland is an island outside the east coast of Sweden and Gothenburg is a city as far west as you can come.
It's not sisters it's singers. I hope you will do some classic swedish christmas song Tänd ett ljus - Triad Mera jul - Adolphson & Falk Juligen - Just D
I truly hated this song back then, when it was played everywhere and all the time. Interesting to hear it again now after so many years. It's not so bad after all! But banger? No.

I don't think i have ever heard the whole song and man, that really brings a bit of darkness to this song.

Yes, agree!! You must do this song.
Ja, Älska mig är verkligen en klassiker. Så vacker!
Yes yes yes.
It is about an abused child !! So much comfort in a soft and nice dog.....unconditional love.

Josefin Nilsson - one of the best voices in Sweden ever. Sadly passed away a 5 years ago due to tragic circumstances. R.I.P
RIP Josefine Nilsson
Rest in Peace Josefin and Marie Nilsson!
Per Myrberg - Trettifyran is another classic that made the top lists.

RIP Josefine Nilsson, she must be one of the best singer we have had in Sweden.

Daniel Lemma med "If I used to love you"
Please react on ”älska mig” with ainbusk singers to!! Beautiful 💞

Reminds me of Johann Neumann, an actor who had a difficult childhood. His parents forced him to sleep in a dog house. The dog was his only friend.
The unconditional love from a dog, for the first time, when a child haven't yet found that in the humans around her. Isn't that deep enough for you?

"Älska mig" by the same group would be a great choice!

I wonder how many children this song has helped. It's a children song, for those that have been very hurt.

Another classic by ABBA member Benny Andersson
You really need to react to älska mig with the same group. Very touching song.
"Älska mig" med Ainbusk är ett måste!!!
Och även Björn Skifs med "Håll mitt hjärta"
Båda är "Smash Bangers" och total goose bumps 🥰
Next up: Promoe - These walls don't lie.
❤❤❤R.I.P SWEET SISTERS 😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don't ever let go of your inner child, Jonathan.
Of course it´s a banger!
"Den stora Dagen" Ursprungligen med dansbandet Vikingarna, men artisten Linnea Henrikssons version är sååå bra.
Gotland. Fin ö. Nästan lika fin som ön jag bor på Öland!
Hej, har du möjligtvis länk till denna video, bra kvalitet.
ser ut som facebook versionen
You would love her version of Always on my mind (Alltid inom mig)

I definitely used the wrong word. Maybe I had Göteborg on my mind since I was performing there around that time. I hope Gotlanders understand
Rip Josefin och Marie 😢

I truly hated this song back then, when it was played everywhere and all the time. Interesting to hear it again now after so many years. It's not so bad after all! But banger? No.
It’s about child abuse :-(
