Robert Mugabe happened. He stole from the country to enrich himself, and played the race card to drive out the country's prosperous white farmers in a "land reform" program that took away the land from the white farmers and gave them to poor black Zimbabweans. The downside was that the poor black people who got all this land did not know how to run the farms, and agriculture completely collapsed in the country. White people and capital fled the country and so Mugabe cranked up the government printing presses to pay the bills which set off a massive hyperinflation. After 30 years of kleptocracy, Mugabe was deposed finally in a military coupe in 2017.

Who the hell cares if racism was a thing blacks were racist to each other damn after Rhodesia fell genocide was the name of the game for the next regime everyone was racist then. At least Rhodesia had a opportunity to improve as the tribal population because I can't consider them black when they don't even have the concept of such unity themselves. But those who wanted to learn could have eventually made reforms through talk and protests. The men fighting for Rhodesia probably were fighting a common enemy another tribe they didn't want to see take power and once Zimbabwe's regime came in they immediately began to genocide the tribes they had grudges against.

Well I won't be arguing with you whether Rhodesia was a good place or not.My simple argument is,only natives will rule the place. And yes,you can cope with that.I am yet to come across a black who said Rhodesia was good for them. The only unfortunate thing is the fact that a Commie Mugabe came to power who was way worse than Ian Smith.

    • @balasaashti3146

@@captain4595 Doubt it first majority of them weren't natives. Most the even the most powerful and most successful were a branch of the Zulu colonists who invaded, they were people that waged war better. There is no natives of your nations if you don't have a nation. A Apache is not a native of traditional Navajo land despite that the apache own much of said land and bad blood runs between them. Just as much as the Hopi and the Navajo. Many Navajo have roots dipped into the military of the U.S and are proud of it to a religious point. I highly doubt you have talked to those who suffered underneath the genocide and why not because they are dead. Their children raped, their wives dragged out and killed with longknives and them dishonored and slaughtered like cattle because of some tribal dispute a century prior. I care little who rules that land, I only wish to not put buckets of resources in a place that will never be a proud nation just a mudhole that acts as a resource point for larger regimes.

Cap45 says, //The Blks were restricted to certain lands which had very bad facilities. The whites were given the best of the land.//
Nae mate. This lie is bc the farming practices varied wildly between bantu, boer/British. The SAF & Rhodie govts went way tf out of their way to educate the bantu on sustainable farming techniques, technologies, and land development(irrigation, well digging etc). The best land wasn't actually part of the issue it was the tribal land which had best potential bc that's where they were settled and where the govt recognised their tribal lands to be. These were like 70% of the best land of SAF and I don't have a stat for Rhodesia but they had great soil there. I wrote a whole para for you detailing it but I'll just quote for you....

    • @carolinus7566
      @carolinus7566 2 года назад +1

"At the start the land was scrub, constantly impoverished by the tribal method of farming and by
erosion. The lifegiving waters drained away into the Indian Ocean. Disease, tribal raids and wild beasts ravaged the people and the land. It was still, as James Stewart found it in the 1860's, "a
lonely land of barbarism, of wild beasts, of timid and harried but not unkindly men, harassed by
never-ending slave raids and inter-tribal wars".
Today water conservation in Rhodesia is a model for the world. The lethal diseases, killing and
slavery have been stamped down and almost out. The white farming areas show crops, the equal of
those in the Mid West or anywhere in the world. The tribes occupy more than half the land, but the
contribution of this to the economy is insignificant because the tribesman clings to his immemorial custom of growing just enough to eat, grazing the land bare, and when it is denuded, breaking up his huts and moving elsewhither, there to repeat the process.
The allegation is often heard that the tribes "only get the poorest land". The matter may be checked,
by any who care, at the great Triangle sugarlands in the Rhodesian lowveld. This land was raw scrub in 1912 and little that looked less promising could have been found when another
indomitable Scotsman, Tom MacDougall, saw it then. The First War delayed him but in 1919 he
began with his hands to clear a patch or two. A secondhand mill, bought in Natal, needed two years
to reach him, by lorry and ox-wagon, from the border at Beit Bridge. By 1935 he produced ten tonsof sugar. Today, when big concerns have taken over, twenty thousand acres are under sugar and the endless crops gladden the eye of man.
The land problem may be studied at the Domboshawa Training Centre, near Salisbury, where men
from the tribal districts receive instruction in local self-government. It was formerly an agricultural training centre and still has a farm, where fine crops grow. On the side of its fence is tribal land,
bare and denuded, where, one might say, nothing would grow. The land on either side of the fence is the same: only the method is different.
The whit man's achievement may be studied, for example, in little Umtali, which reminded me of
a mountain village in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It has 9,000 white and 35,000 black people, and the white ones provide nine-tenths of its revenue. Over the years this small place has built some six thousand houses for the African community and (from beer-hall proceeds) a stadium for the black folk costing £75,000, a swimming pool, picture-theatre, infant schools and crèches and much more.
I doubt whether an English or American town of comparable size could equal this achievement.
Rhodesia's growth was always fast but the great acceleration came after the Second War, in 1945.
The next twenty years brought probably the most rapid development the world has ever seen. Still building on the tradition of sound administration and probity in public affairs which it thought to be its rocklike heritage from England, the country flourished exceedingly, managing its own affairs and spending nobody's money but its own.
Within Rhodesia the people, white and black, grew in beauty, as one might say, side by side. The
emphasis is on side by side, as distinct from together, and here lies the difference between the
temporary expedient, gradualism, and the ultimate solution, separateness.
      From late 1966^^^

Loving Rhodesia for being anticommunist is a hard thing, especially as someone who thinks racism is stupid.
But there's something about Rhodesia that draws me to the history, the story, the tragedy. The vain hope that things could have been better, that they could have been fairer to their own people, and the world could have been kinder, and the commies could have been more poorly-recieved by everyone involved.
Alas, Rhodesia, alas it was not to be.
I mourn Rhodesia. They were wronged, and they did do wrong, but they were right to fight for their nation to survive.
I love you, Rhodesia, like I'd love any wacky racist uncle. Like, yeah, they're racist, but they're family goddamnit, and in this family we like our floppies slotted whatever color they are!

I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to see that they’re both right and both wrong about the Rhodesia argument? Like yes, Rhodesia was an absolutely racist and apartheid state built and ran by colonizers who didn’t see the natives as humans worthy of rights. And yes, Zimbabwe has been absolutely ran into the ground by Mugabe and his corrupt and idiotic style of governance. Both are right.
It’s the same thing when people talk about Cuba. Yes, Fidel Castro was a murderous revolutionary who has repressed his people, repressed the media and free speech and by and large tanked his economic standing in the world. But he also took them from a state that was subservient to the West, marred with corruption and rampant income inequality and created the best health care system and highest working wages in the Caribbean. He took an island of mostly illiterate and uneducated and unemployed Cubans and turned them into an educated, employed and insured populace. Unfortunately his anti-American zeal and communist leanings inspired the U.S. to embargo his island into the ground, destroying any potential for economic growth.
Ultimately, when looking at history, there’s a lot of gray area. Lots of people who were equally capable of doing great and awful things. When we look at countries like Zimbabwe and Cuba, and shame them for their communism, ultimately these countries adopted it as a reaction to racism and imperialist capitalism forcing large parts of their population into subservience. Both systems have failed the Third World.

Rhodesia was not an apartheid state.
It was, indeed, ran by colonizers and, as a result, it worked well.
White Rhodesians never saw the natives as a bunch of idiots not worty of any rights.
Mugabe came as no surprise : since the early sixties and its various independances, the writing was on the wall : everyone could know what would be the result of black majority rule. Any black majority rule.

@@depea4241 absolutely. I remember in an European history course I took while studying abroad, we learned that a precursor to many European nations falling victim to communism was high wealth disparity, little to no union rights, and poor economic regulation. Those countries who suffered from such problems and didn’t adapt either fell to communism (Imperial Russia) or turned to fascism (postwar Germany and Italy).
That’s why I laugh every time GOP idiots try to say that implementing iThird Way economic principles in the US will lead to communism. Like no you retards, it’s pretty much the only proven way throughout history to do a good job at preventing it outside of fascism.

Ok, enough. I can write all day how Zimbabwe is beig crippled by sanctions because the west does not want South Africa, Namibia and Botswana to wake up and kick out white colonizers or colonizers in general a nd take back their land. I can show source aftter source where I prove that while rhodesia was under sanctions that was only officially as US, UK SA and other countries (Israel, Portugal for a long period until they themselves had a regime change etc) but all these countries did it "under the table".
This is why the FN FAL was sold to South Africa and from then on sent over the border but with the serial numbers filed of.
US have admitted their unofficial support but claims it was simply to fight a proxy cold war against "communism". When Rhodesia got hold of russian tech they even gave it to the Muricans and the brits, they would never have done that if there was bad blood. It was first when these countries stop supporting them and South Africa closed of illegal trade for real that Rhodesia experienced real sanctions. With that said: None of this matters because you guys arent gonna read. You are just gonna say, "look at em starving now". So I say: Say what ever you want, at least africans are giving birth to children unlike westerners who are being colonized by africans and middle easterners.

Rhodesia could actually succeed and shed its 'racism' over time because the white man was already acknowledged the natives and were working together to build a better nation. But then came the people who cried racism, demanded that total control be handed to them because they are natives of the land all the while disregarding white folk born on their very lands. They instigated targeted violence and atrocities on white farmers, sometimes their even their own to pin the blame on the 'colonizers'. Racism wasn't a thing until they made it a thing.
So basically all that self-sabotage resulted in Rhodesia becoming Zimbabwe, a place that could've been better had it been allowed to go on. It's a prime example of going woke and going broke. The irony of all this is that Mugabe died in a nation that became extremely successful despite prior British occupation and also faced the challenge of race and ideological differences during its foundations. Mugabe had the chance to turn Zimbabwe into a better place than Rhodesia for his people but obviously it didn't happen.
Nazi Germany on the other hand works way differently. They want world domination and for their ideology to spread. Rhodesia just wants to thrive and succeed, not warmonger or go on genocidal sprees. And why do Rhodies have such high KDs you ask? Because natives don't want troublemakers stirring the pot and ruining a good thing so the military usually gets the drop on them before anything serious happens.
      Lastly, Rhodesia is based.
