- It’s one of the most celebrated dates of the British social season and so for tonight’s Friday Night Fashion we just had to showcase all our style hits from Royal Ascot. And, in the least surprising news ever, we’re not really in this for the horse-racing. Major trends we’ve spied include sharp boaters and head to toe white. But we’re not so sold on all those lawn-scraping maxis. Do you agree with our hits and misses? And which look did Amanda choose for her day in the Royal Enclosure after she asked for Instagram’s input?

Love Friday Night Fashion. I’m a similar age to you both. I love your knowledge, insight but most of all your humour. I love fashion but I do find myself getting uncomfortable around some ethical issues. I watch your channel to relax and escape for a while. However, and I don’t want to be negative or preachy, there are a lot of elephants in the room. Horse racing for one is very questionable when it comes to horse welfare but we turn a polite blind eye and carry on. Similarly, feathers. I’m not sure how ethical the trade is but I’m positive the original wearer didn’t give up the feathers willingly and probably came to a sad end all so we can flounce around in them. From what I can gather most luxury leather goods are not a “by product” but the animals are raised specifically for their skin which is yuck. Anyway just wondered what your thoughts are.

Interesting comments about the uncomfortable shoes women are forced to wear. Why is the fashion industry not taking on the challenge of designing an ‘Ascot Shoe’? Is a kitten heel so out of step today?
I hate puffed sleeves and tiered dresses! They’re not sophisticated.
