  • This video starts with a non related tribute to a 5ft 5in giant of a man. We then visit our narrowboat at our Marina on the Shropshire Union Canal. We fit our new stern fenders and replace the rusty chains on our bow fender. We also discuss the safety implications of incorrectly fitted chains and fenders. Further maintenance to be done before our boating commences again - what are we going to change?. We hope you enjoy watching this video even though it is tinged with sadness. 🙋‍♀️🙋

Yes very sad. Terrible illness. Great job with the fenders. Well done. Look lovely with new chains. Take care both of you.

      Hi Shirley
MND is horrendous. A good friend of ours suffered terribly, we went along with him and his wife on their very last cruise. Fenders fitted, we are replacing our toilet next. But before that we are going away (not boating) on a special holiday with special friends celebrating a special birthday. B & K 🙋‍♀️🙋❤️

I don't know anything about Rugby League but it's sad to hear of anyone, particularly young and fit people, getting this disease. RIP. Thanks for your video and all your tips. Happy you're not getting a drone!

      Hello again
Being a fan and former Rugby League player it is especially sad, Rob was a giant among men. Thankfully we do not follow the masses, for us decent sound is far more important than drone footage.

      Hi
Time goes by so quickly. We really like our new fenders. Hopefully we can soon be back out boating, we are really missing it. B&K 🙋‍♀️🙋

Never really thought much about chains until we saw a boats bow fender wedge in a lock gate while rising up ( it was quite a few years ago). Keith

      Hi all
It really is. Rugby League is not the biggest of sports but everyone got to know Rob Burrow very well. The Challenge Cup final on Saturday will I suspect be an emotional occasion. Rob played No.7, the game will kick off 7 mins later than normal at 15.07. B & K

      Hi
Apologies for the late reply we have been on holiday. So pleased you like our videos and the no nonsense style 😇. We have always maintained all our narrowboats, neglect them and they deteriorate quite quickly. We are replacing our toilet and tung oiling our galley worktops. Hopefully we will then be off boating. Cheers. B&K 🍻

    Hi Kieth
Great video with some fantastic tips.
Sometimes it’s so easy to overlook certain aspects of safety but your experience is very much appreciated.
I’m off to create some weak links today…
Where can we buy the rubberised button cover?

Hi Ian, glad you found it useful. The rubber over the bow fender is a piece of a tyre. Cut it to size, punch holes in it & lace it up. K 👍👍
