Here is a juicy rag I improvised up for today.
Inspired by a chilli pepper related rag.
2:42 you've gotta love those piano power chords
Nice
This sounds remarkably fine and well-constructed, but aren't you merely mimicking Scott Joplin? If yer gonna be The Rising-Dough Composer of the 22nd Century, shouldn't you be doing something more original with the form?
During the 20th century creative minds such as William Bolcom, Carter Pann and Paul Schoenfield (among others) did marvelous things in the regime idiom, but here you are, being really good at imitating the music of 125-years-ago.
What's the point?
Explain to me how this is similar to Joplin?
@@KeithOtisEdwards The point of my channel is very straight forward.
It's showing me playing and composing within my ranks to be the best I can be.
Nothing is truly original anyways and William Bolcom is no different than Joplin or any other composer.
1st of all, This is not Scott Joplin's style, this is novelty not ragtime, those 2 are very different concepts, and 2nd, almost every ragtime composer imitates Scott Joplin, Joseph Lamb did it, James Scott did it, Charles L. Johnson did it, Tom brier did it, everyone did, to some extent, he's just adding his own twist to Joplin's groundwork, no different than every other composer of ragtime, novelty and jazz, what kind of argument is that?
@@LDL-s6ctysm for your support m8 but this isn't a novelty piece.
This is a swung rag.
Novelty needs to be very advanced and challenging to playthrough and this doesn't really do either even though it swings a lot.
It's nice but nowhere near the novelty pieces you would see from people like Arthur Schutt or Zez Confrey.
@@therisingcomposerofthe2272 Yeah, I made a slight mistake there, my bad.
