How do you open the back hatch if the battery is dead? Looking in the manual there is a way but you need to get in the back to manually unlatch the back hatch from the inside. Questions, how to unlock the back door AND are we able to fold the back seats with a dead battery if the back seats are powered only (ref RX 450h+). Thank you for the great videos!
So hopefully I can find an answer to this... I like leaving my car running at times, for example when stopping at a rest area along an interstate highway. One of the reasons I want to leave the car running is so that my navigation doesn't get reset. Before I got a lexus, I had a Toyota Sienna which I could just use the key to lock and then unlock it. However, in my new Lexus, the keyhole is covered and I don't want to keep taking that cover off every time I want to leave the car. Is there a cover (aftermarket) that has an accessible hole to be able to use the key? Or maybe there's a way to keep the car running and be able to lock and unlock without the key?
Great question! So there is a "postive battery post" under the hood that is marked clearly. HOWEVER please be cautious when picking a ground location. We have damaged ECU by grounding too close to them under the hood. A good practise is to use the post under the hood to create power to open the trunk and boost by the actual battery! Hope this helps!
Good luck ,when your battery is dead, using a power bank or trickle charger/battery minder attached tothe positive terminal in the engine bay fuse box and a ground. My battery died when we were away for 2 weeks. TWO Lexus Roadside Service separately dispatched tow trucks on consecutive days came to get the 2023 RX350h started. Both tried a power bank attached to the engine bay terminals and nothing happened. The second dispatched towing service was supposed to arrive with a dolly to get the vehicle out of the garage as it was nose in and in Park. The second driver decided that he would call a third tow truck operator as the second driver did not have the equipment he needed and was hesitant to undertake the task. The third driver, a man of small stature, crawled into the back after the rear seats were down, somehow got access to the battery and got the RX started. I am going to have a battery tender permanently attached an plug it in when we travel as this is an issue that Idon’t want to repeat. It would be so simple if only the back door had an easily accessible emergency release but of course it doesn’t.
Ridiculous that the door handle doesn’t work when it’s below freezing either. For a luxury car this is insanity. My love for my new RX500h has declined substantially because of this flaw. Yes, flaw. Major flaw Lexus. You should be figuring out how to solve this.
Yea this was a shock to us the first time it happened! Especially because when it's -30C it works fine! However when there is moisture frozen is where the issue lies. GOOD THING is Lexus did come up with a fix for this. So if you haven't already make sure you let your local dealership know that you had this issue and they will replace the part with the new one! So far none of our 2024's have had any issues with the new part. Hope this helps!
Very helpful video ! Thanks Dustin

Don't use the key, it may scratch the paint, use your driver license or credit card to pop the cover instead.
YES! Very good point! I've been using plastic panel tools, however a credit card does work as well!
that's a lot of work to do. would lexus be having an option to just have a normal door handle? a door handle does not really need to be like that
I know it sounds like a lot of work! However I find the daily use of the new handle so convenient now that I'm used to it! Thanks for watching!
How to open the trunk with the dead battery? I need to replace the battery at back.
This is so bizarre. Who came up with this craziness. Should turn the key and open the door.
Riiiiight!
In which direction did you turn the key, unfortunately this is not described or visible in the video
On my 2022 Toyota Camry, turning the key to the left will lock the doors. Turning it to the right will open doors.

Thanks for your reply!
I managed to do it in the end. For me, it was the left side to unlock.
Greetings from Germany.
Is the underneath pad switch activated by clicking / press like physical botton or touched like mobile phone static-electro-rubbing ?
Great question! It is like pressing/clicking a physical button!
How much pressure do need to open up
THANK YOU!!!

What is the next step? Can we start the car?

No problem! Glad it helped!
Thank you
