You missed a few... First, there's the Horsethief Gulch Campground in the Spring Valley, at the Eagle Valley Reservoir. It's an awesome state park, 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, within walking distance to the water, with HOT SHOWERS!!! Second, not far from there is the Echo Canyon campground. It doesn't get as as many visitors and it's best visited in the spring. Third, there is Beaver Dam State park. It's about an hour from Calienti down a 30-mile dirt road. Very few people ever go there, but it's beautiful! And, there are trout in the stream that runs through it. These are all state parks and you can reserve spaces online. And of course, there is the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge with a big beautiful lake. It's first come, first served, but again, not many people go there. It's an odd thing actually living in Las Vegas that so few people ever get out of the city and explore what's available in the local area. I'd wouldn't consider Sedona and Joshua Tree to be local. You might as well talk about camping in Big Bear, CA. But hey, that's just me. :-) BTW, for those who are into backcountry offroading, it's worth checking out the Desert Pass Campground off the Mormon Wells Road, located in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.
Thanks for those recommendations Kevin! Good to know, I've heard of a few of them like Echo Canyon and Pagranagat but not Eagle Valley Reservoir or Beaver Dam, i'll add those to my list though so thank you! I have driven through Mormon Wells Rd and passed the campground up there but have never stayed. Thanks for watching!
Quite a well put-together video, with some great info on some local Vegas camping spots. We get out exploring quite a bit, so maybe we'll see you out on the trail some day. Keep the goodness coming! 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, we love exploring around here, there is so much to see. If you ever see us out and about dont hesitate to say Hello! Cheers!
Desert Pass Campground is pretty cool very close to Vegas about an hour, and it's up in the mountains so it's 10-15 degrees cooler. Its in the Desert National Wildlife refugee area next to vegas
Thank you! I've driven by that campground when we did Mormon Well Road but have never camped, its on my list to check out someday though, thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing . May you have a happy New Yr! Look at spring valley (eagle valley reservoir ) camping in Pioche. 3 campsites around the reservoir might be a bit cold in the winter
I saw that place on a map while we were driving up to Ely a few weeks ago! I will add that to the list in 2024, thanks for the suggestion! Happy New Year!
Every adventure is better with a dog!
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
