    I wish you could take a sheild. Casters would benefit greatly from +2 ac and usually have a free hand

    • @ChancesSpellbook

      Being able to take shield would be a great way to modify this!

    • @destroyerinazuma96
      @destroyerinazuma96 4 года назад

      Yes, currently the only way to get one on casters is moderately armored on top of a light or medium armor chassis. Or multiclassing (hexblade, battlesmith, ranger, cleric, fighter, paladin, barbarian, blood hunter, druid (non metal shields)).

    The only people I see benefiting from this would be wizards/sorcerers wanting to upgrade green flame/booming blade, bard of swords (possibly), and clerics that don’t get martial weapons but do get the improved melee damage later.
    Personally, I’ve ruled that this feat can give all simple and martial weapons, since how 5e works this isn’t the biggest power change and most classes either already get the weapons they need or can only use specific weapons regardless if they have proficiency in other things (mainly the monks restriction on weapon types)

    • @ChancesSpellbook
      @ChancesSpellbook  4 года назад +1

      I agree! That's a great way to Homebrew it as well, I'd even go so far as to add in a +1 increase to DEX/STR!

    • @destroyerinazuma96
      @destroyerinazuma96 4 года назад

      Good ruling. I'd say you could also do stuff like Sorc 1 (for con saves), Cleric 1 (heavy armor, but not necessarily martial weapons), Sorc the rest of the way. Life Cleric 1 / Divine Soul with martial weapons and con saves. VH Warcaster 13+1 9 14 8 13 15+1. From here WM could either fix your Dex or make you eligible for Splint and Full Plate.

    I have built an Assassin Rogue with the Alert feat and Weapon Master for a whip. My idea was to have a poke-and-dash Sneak-Attack set up without having to rely on others or get within 5-feet of the enemy.
    I’m looking forward to test it.

    I love the idea and the flavor and agree with the guy who said they should've included shields. However the four weapons thing is laughable - someone proficient with the long bow should know how to use a short bow. I suggest this from the top of my head: swords (short, long, great, scimitars, rapiers/fencing stuff), xbows (hand, light, heavy), bows (short, long), axes (hand, battle, great), hammers & mauls (light, war, mace, greatmaul, flail), blowpipes, whips, firearms (all), spears&halberds (like spear, javelin, glaive, halved, pike). I would argue Lances should be apart since they're a specialized cavalry people's weapon of choice.

    I just built a variant human that I'm planning on specing into the swashbuckler rogue. I ended up taking this feat for a couple reasons. The +1 to dex pushed me to 18, so having that +4 modifier at level 1 has been really helpful for me. I also just decided to take finesse martial weapons that rogues don't already get, so scimitars, whips, double-blade scimitars, and light crossbows. Admittedly, a good deal of that was for character building/story purposes. The concept for my character involved scimitars, and I wanted to have proficiency in them, so I took the others as well, can't hurt to expand my ideal weapon list. It's probably not gonna be optimal, but it gave my character that last factor that I wanted for him.

    I'm using this for my rouge to get Longbow/Heavy Crossbow/Blowpipe and Net. Makes ranged attacks much stronger. More damage, better range.

  • @destroyerinazuma96
    @destroyerinazuma96 4 года назад +1

    One of the few ways for Rogues to get a HeavXbow. I could see it as thematic on a Half-Drow who took the Magic but wants more. "I might be a sorcerer but I still know hand xbows". I would love it if the feat taught one shield proficiency. I mean, IMHO if you train with weapons you might have very well trained with shields too. I'd allow a feat called "Sword and Shield". And +1 str/dex.

    Im making a druid and i wanna make him a stealthy gish without multiclass
    So i already know the feat im picking
    Im thinking about a somewhat balanced build. With a decent str, high dex, high or respectable con, int that isnt lower than 10, high wis, and cha that isnt lower than 10 too (i just dont like negative modifiers on my characters)
    The 4 weapon i would pick would be, warhammer that i already got in my bag, flail, rapier and hand crossbow

      IO The Shattered Goddess Gish characters refer to the idea of a character that improves their own physical/melee power with magic. The 5e war caster wizard, blade singer, and Eldritch knights are great examples of this though really it fits with any caster in the game.

    My question is, can you put it on a gnome or halfling. Letting wield a six foot blade as a barbarian.

    • @destroyerinazuma96
      @destroyerinazuma96 4 года назад +1

      Hello. The rule is: small races have disadvantage while wielding a weapon with the Heavy property. Two known ways to counter this are the Enlarge spell and the potion of Growth. Otherwise weapons master only does what it says on the box - you get your proficiencies and your +1 Str/Dex but no grace from the Disadvantage rule. However I just realized that if your GM allows it you could get away with it if you make a "Heavy" weapon using mithral or a titanium alloy. If it's not super heavy and you have a good Strength score (I'd say 16+) then wielding your six ft sword should not be much of a problem. One other niche application could be to learn Telekinesis and use it on your weapons. You "augment" your battle skills with psychic abilities. Finally you could drop a weapon, shapeshift into a bigger beast that can use weapons then evade the penalty.

    I don’t think this is very good, it’s a feat slot and in my game, where downtime happens a lot, spending some gold means you can gain proficiency with whatever tool or weapon you want in about a month

    • @ChancesSpellbook
      @ChancesSpellbook  4 года назад

      Yeah, this is one of the harder choices to justify. Ultimately I think the only way to fix it is through home brew.
