  • My car is a 2009 bmw 320i with n46nb20 engine; I noticed the white smoke at half way of my journey, I STILL need to drive a long way home; I thought was head gasket problem at very beginning when I NOTICED the white smoke. After arriving home, I checked coolant level, did not lose any coolant and did have over heating problem after a continuous 500kms drive. So I dont think was the head gasket problem. If your car has similar problem, you may need to find out whether is head gasket problem or not before taking next step check on your car.

2011 e90 328i xdrive. Replaced valve cover gasket, oil filter housing, coils, spark plugs. All issues revolving around the above listed things have been fixed. The only issue now that bothers me is the white smoke from the exhaust.
Car only has 150kms and is in amazing condition.
Smokes on idle at red lights, enough to grab EVERYONES ATTENTION, and also smokes when acceleratinggg ENOUGH for all drivers behind me to stop driving and pull over because they can’t see!!!
I’d appreciate any advice please and thank you.

Can you get back to me if you’ve figured out what it was? Not burning coolant or oil, smokes like A train when I accelerate hard and when I idle, does intermediatly

Might be your valve stem seals failed, it’s common on e90s

That is not the pcv valve. My e46 has the exact same engine. The pcv is under the intake manifold in the back of the engine

Trust me it is. I have an e60 with same exact issues. When you have that sipping sound as you open the oil cap, it’s the engine trying to release blow by gas because PCV is failing.
