I'm not surprised by the quality of the Balenciaga dress. About twenty years ago, I tried on a pair of Prada trousers at a store. The seam came apart due to awful quality thread. Many of these pieces are made in China without much oversight. The mark up is outrageous! Made in China can very from great to awful. That depends on the oversight.
One of our teachers in fashion school brought a vintage Chanel coat for us to look at and I was actually shocked at the finishings. The outside was exquisite and obviously very well made with a high quality, expensive tweed, but the inside was almost COMPLETELY unfinished. Our teacher told us that was pretty commonplace which threw me for a loop, though I have to assume it was made solely as a runway piece and not ready to wear (but maybe that’s too optimistic lol)
Raw hem so that it can be tailored. Unless you walk into that store and have fittings, the garment will have some raw edges at the places tailoring usually happens, like hems.
I'm not surprised. Balenciaga does a lot of gimmicky stuff, like the leather IKEA bag, the towel shirt, etc. Just basd on that I would say they don't respect their customers.
Great video, except, I would have wanted to see them on you (or someone) to see the fit difference, and how the different fabrics drape. i would say that the Zara dress isn't a great dupe because the fabric is quite different, closer to a light sweater knit, and the Balenciaga is closer to a dancewear knit, but you used the contrast to make some great points. Mostly though, the neckline and color are what is similar, the cut is actually very different. I'd love to see more of these kinds of videos, but with the dress on a body or at least a dress form, and a closer dupe in the overall cut.
Thank you for this. Has confirmed for me to not spontaneously buy Balenciaga until i can closely examine in their shop. Love the brand though and I’m looking forward to their next runway show
Normally I don't have time for people who see luxury items and say "I can get one just as good at WalMart." But in the case of that Balenciaga gown, they're right.
@@user-jk7vp7vn2k real real's authentication is terrible, it's done by 20yo retail employees with 0 actual construction experience. I have messaged them many times about obvious fakes on their website, and they dont care bc they know most of their clients just want the logo/clout
So u actually spent 3000 dollars on a dress? Did you return it? If not thats crazy. The zara dress is worth max 10 dollars and the balenciaga one cost max 20 bucks to make

Balenciaga clothing is not made in China.

Could indeed be a runway piece.

the way my jaw dropped when i saw those raw seams!!!!!
Love how we call bad copies of bad originals dupes now 😆😅 loved this comparison.
Raw hem is common in expensive dresses. They do it in thicker knit fabric to minimize bulk. And maximize profits.
I still have a dress from Zara that I bought 2008. It‘s just a summer dress but it looks impeccable. The good old years.
The Zara one is just a bodycon dress. I don't think there is any attempt here to dupe the Balenciaga.
Balenciaga would die again if he could see what they have done with his brand 😢
The Balenciaga brand always reminds me of "the Emperor's new clothes". 😂

Ooooo that makes sense ❤

The Real Real has been known to sell fakes. I would do this buying directly from Balenciaga.

Great video! Really interesting how both brands applied a solution to sheernes.
Ooooh. The Balenciaga dress quality was quite upsetting. It looks like something made by someone in their backroom as a personal project. Embarassing

I’m sad you didn’t try the dresses on.

Balenciaga has finishes that I would expect in Walmart bought item… just awful ….
Balenciaga dress looks like it was made by Zara. Not worth more than $500
Balenciega is completely canceled to me. So are the celebrities that still wear it.
No hem on the Balenciaga?? The exposed cut fabric inside wtf

Zara fabric is always trush. I buy Zara clothes and shoes but to be honest …majority of the time it’s just not good quality 😢
Maybe a dupe the balenciaga dress. Might be difficulte to verify if it is really from Balenciaga. That might explain the poor quality of the dress
you mean a knockoff, not a dupe. and given that it's on the real real that's as verified as it gets

How can you do a whole video without be sure you bought a real Balenciaga dress, come on!!!
Buying that dress is funding child abuse... What is wrong with you! Did you forget the Balenciaga campain - more money than sence.
