I love how you comment on the “Dodge with a Cummins on it” as being the flagship car of the channel when Cummins swaps were the THING that brought us all to your channel. Sounds to me like a perfect fit, and a well rounded story all coming together for a reason.
This is such an awesome series. I love second gen’s solely because of the way they look, so making them run and drive as nice as they look and keeping them on the road brings a smile to my face
Came to the end of this video, but it only felt like the halfway point. Great video is what that means. Was glued to the screen to see this project/prototype finished. Am excited about this. Correct, if you can take the worst truck and make it drive good. A good truck will drive great.
I'm not sure if I've heard this in any of the videos but to add utility to this already awesome concept, you've got an engine, you've got a very capable generator and a buffer battery. Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking? Backup generator for home backup? 50amp plug + 10kw inverter? This would definitely help make the decision for so many people. I would find it infinitely more useful if it had a 50Amp 240V outlet. Love your content! Keep up the good work!
This would be a great benefit of this being somewhat of a DIY kit. Just need to add the appropriate hardware and teach the computer how to run in that application.
I work at a shop in Alberta that does Diesel Generators for off highway use and most of our gens are sourced through Cummins so it's always interesting to see how you are adapting things for the diesel hybrid powertrain. I think this will become a very big part of the automotive industry in the next ten years or so as the push for evs continue and the governments lack of foresite will have many people looking for an economic alternative. Instead of trading your truck in, you can make it better. I hope that these same shops will also offer battery cell replacement so once the battery capacities are diminished they just replace the bad cells instead of just throwing away all these batteries too and before you know it your actually making a huge benefit to the world by re-using everything. Great work.
The whole time you were making the spacer for the adapter I wanted to draw you up an adapter and cut it out of 1.25" plate on the waterjet in like 30 mins lol. Nice work adapting (literally) and overcoming!
I’ve been dying for the chance to build a hybrid 12v. My daily is a 95 2500, and it’s currently 2wd. I was considering converting to a 4wd front axle, and instead of a transfer case and driveshaft, connect an EV motor from a leaf or model 3 directly to the front axle. Mount a Chevy volt battery pack in the bed (cheapest kw/$), run an open source controller and wire a pressure sensor to your brake lines for adaptive regenerative braking. Depending on the size of your battery pack, you could go to and from work without firing the Cummins up, and save a ton on brakes as the motor would be doing about 90% of the work. Only thing left would be power steering and ac, and could be accomplished by either just idling the truck, or if you’d want the engine off like a real hybrid, run a used Eletric power steering pump, vacuum pump, and ac compressor in parallel with the stockers or replace completely!
Making that " truck- rim- transmission- spacer- thingy" is why I like this channnel so much. Oh yeah, another vote for the frame painted Ford Electric blue :)
this is great. we found a 68 international 1200 crew cab in mint condition down here in the forest in bella coola BC and we have a 2nd gen frame 2wd and a 1st gen cummins so we're planning on doing a body swap lol
Diesel electric? Black body? What colour to paint the frame? Silver. All the early Diesel Electric locomotives in this country were painted black with silver details (including silver frames), and it's a really sharp look. Although, I see Electric Blue has a following in the comments, and the electric blue + orange combination also works really well.
Check out Thuren suspension technology for your spring needs. They make soft ride springs for dodge ram diesels. They are in Oregon and could probably help you out!
And this is what most people don't realize about pretty much any product (not just trucks or cars): at least 1/3 of the purchase price is for development costs alone. This is why manufacturers have to sell large quantities over a certain amount of time to even make profit on that product. ✌️
Gray Paint....I haven't heard much on Edison and thought the light duty truck conversion project was dead. Good to see things still moving forward on an initial kit / design. 👍😁
Electric Blue would look Great as others have said.....go well with the black and also contrast the orange wiring. White frame 👎. Awesome video as always ....great content, educational and such an inspiration for all us do it yourselfers.
I understand why you wanted to keep the transmission is the same location, but when you got the generator in there you can move the engine/generator assembly forward to help put weight on the front axle. That being said it will help with the amount of payload that can be on the rear axle when the truck is in service and being used.
I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9l cummins diesel and have never had any of the problems you keep referring to. Have used it to towwed farm tractors, case 580 backhoe and skid steers. Never even heard of "Death Wobble". Love my Mopar Dodge POS!!!
Frame colors definitely ORANGE. BLACK and ORANGE looks absolutely Awesome together plus they are also Harley Davidson Colors. Absolutely Love what you are doing with this Truck BUT it's still a Dodge BUT a WAY better Dodge Truck although I personally don't think it's better than your Ford F350 CAT 😺 MOTOR Truck. That's an Awesome Amazing Beautiful Truck on the Planet you built one Hell of a Truck and that's a FACT!!!
i own a 1994 Ram 2500 4wd 318 Magnum NV 4500 has 250,000 never had any death wobble only front end part replaced is the track bar got it form Detroit Axle 5 years ago never a problem. all suspension is stock and simply drives like a dream 3.55 gear 14 mpg city 18 hwy who needs more
I was watching a tfl video where they was talking to a manufacture putting electric axles in for pick up trucks. I’ll have go back through to find that video and tag you in it
Rich how about painting the frame bronze it goes with black and probably would look good with the orange cable orange frame would look cheesy and a white frame would look just odd on a black pickup truck but your truck your choice cheers from down under
Paint the frame electric blue.
Edison blue
I agree
Electric Blue will make the orange wiring really pop. Especially, on a Black body truck that's supposed to be a flagship.
Blue and orange is a fantastic color combination and mud and dirt won’t show as badly.
Edison blue, match Topsy
electric blue frame.
frame should be electric high-viz blue
My vote for the frame color is "Carl blue" works with the black, contrast for the orange, ties into the Edison trucks.
Paint the frame blue. With orange wiring harness.
ewwww
Same blue as the first Edison Electric Truck, otherwise meet the Topsi Color scheme, make it look like the little Brother to it.
Bright blue frame
Blue frame with orange wires would be cool
Edison blue frame with orange cables would look great!
I learned so much with deboss garage that I'm capable of building a car by myself
Thanks man, that means a lot
no you aren't , not if you've never done any of this stuff before... learn to crawl before you run
I love how you comment on the “Dodge with a Cummins on it” as being the flagship car of the channel when Cummins swaps were the THING that brought us all to your channel. Sounds to me like a perfect fit, and a well rounded story all coming together for a reason.
One of the most exciting builds to come to the pickup truck world, in my humble opinion.
Definitely Blue Frame!

Thanks man
electric blue for sure
I think the Blues have it.
Electric blue for the frame.
I second the electric blue!🎉
Using an aluminum rim for a trans spacer is genius dude. Bravo !
Rich... Good color options to showcase the Hybrid prototype undercarriage would be a Ford Grabber Blue or Kawasaki green
That trans adapter plate from a truck wheel is awesome!!!
Topsy Blue make Chase smile!🙂
frame would look good edison blue.

Electric BLUE!! The frame would look awesome in electric blue with all the orange wiring and the black body.....
The whole time you were making the spacer for the adapter I wanted to draw you up an adapter and cut it out of 1.25" plate on the waterjet in like 30 mins lol. Nice work adapting (literally) and overcoming!
mine cost 0 dollars and an hour of time
@@DEBOSSGARAGE those are the best kind of solutions!
@@DEBOSSGARAGEwhat a smart a$$e comment… the original poster didn’t even say they would charge….
Electric blue paint !
Frame - same blue as the Edison truck
Definitely electric blue for the frame. OG Autobot vibes.
Frame GREY. goes well with black and will highlight the orange cables.

At first i thought you meant 12 volts not 12 valves lol.
I think you should go with Edison motors blue!
Edison blue
Making that " truck- rim- transmission- spacer- thingy" is why I like this channnel so much.

Definitely a blue like the manufactures use to say voltage
this is great. we found a 68 international 1200 crew cab in mint condition down here in the forest in bella coola BC and we have a 2nd gen frame 2wd and a 1st gen cummins so we're planning on doing a body swap lol
I like blue also. Maybe add some flake or pearl to it.
I love your intro to this series. I've been here for years but always enjoy the recap on this hybrid build.
Edision blue
This is now my favorite build you have done.
Blue will do for me too!!
Blue frame would go hard with the orange, but if not white would look good too!
The bell housing temporary-adapter-adapter solution was brilliant!
Nice bright white and the contrast with the body/cab, and the cabling and pipe work will be awsome.
White frames/ trailers look like he'll after a while, rock chips, scratches, rust...
Electric Blue sounds cool 😎
bright blue!
BLUE! frame
Diesel electric? Black body?
What colour to paint the frame?
Silver.
All the early Diesel Electric locomotives in this country were painted black with silver details (including silver frames), and it's a really sharp look.

I was thinking yellow for the frame. High Voltage!
Electric blue forsure
Electric blue frame! 👍
Paint the frame in Edison Blue
I like the primer gray look as it accents the wiring and the body
black and gold goes really well together
You should paint the frame med. gray, that will show off the orange cables
Bright blue!
Make the frame copper color!
Check out Thuren suspension technology for your spring needs. They make soft ride springs for dodge ram diesels. They are in Oregon and could probably help you out!

The work you do is nothing short of incredible. I can't wait to see how this rig comes along.
I like the idea of matching this truck to the Edison truck
Dark grey/silver frame so it’s a sublet difference from the black, but also works well with the orange and silver electric stuff.
Paint the frame light gray. That looks way better than white.
Dark Gray . Perfect contrast with orange wiring
Definitely the coolest build on RUclips. Excited to see it going down the road!
Gray Paint....I haven't heard much on Edison and thought the light duty truck conversion project was dead. Good to see things still moving forward on an initial kit / design. 👍😁
Turning that rim into a transmission spacer on the lathe was awesome
I'd go with a satin grey, that will contrast nicely with the black AND the orange (without being too easily smudged, as the white will).
Electric Blue would look Great as others have said.....go well with the black and also contrast the orange wiring. White frame 👎. Awesome video as always ....great content, educational and such an inspiration for all us do it yourselfers.

An orange chassis would be unique and a nice contrast to the black body. Go for it.
Agree!

11:59 Edison Blue
Amazingly Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this video. Greetings from Madang, Papua New Guinea!
I live for this shit ❤.
CAT Yellow but electric blue is pretty cool too.
Blue
Electric blue frame
Another vote for Electric Blue!
Remarkable mechanical knowledge and aptitude 👍
I jumped in From Edison motors👍
Cool
Yooo big love DEBOSS I BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR YEARS. I have always loved your videos you are a different breed ❤❤❤❤
Frame colors definitely ORANGE. BLACK and ORANGE looks absolutely Awesome together plus they are also Harley Davidson Colors. Thanks for making these videos. Very exciting
Electric blue frame 👌
I'm in total agreement on this one, electric blue would look absolute killer against the orange wiring and the shiny black body 👌🏻
I had a number of gen 2 4x4s growing up and never had death wobble. However, I actually take pretty good care of my sheet.
I was watching a tfl video where they was talking to a manufacture putting electric axles in for pick up trucks. I’ll have go back through to find that video and tag you in it

Bronze frame would be sick!
HI Viz Neon Yellow, goes great with black.
easy to see where to pressure wash.
Paint the frame a vibrant Electric Blue.
Black body over grey frame with orange HV wiring.
Blue all day
AWESOME!....GOOD JOB!
Blue like the 4xe jeeps. Plus all other electric/hybrids use blue
Frame painted red would look sick
