I think you can tell that Courtney was the most passionate and probably thought she knew the most so she was quicker to question what other people said. That being said I think everyone had their equal amount of hiccups in telling the story so it’s amazing Amanda actually got it pretty quickly

My favourite theory will always be how all the kids died in a specific way that correlates to how the animatronic do things. Foxy died running so he runs to you, chica died screaming so her mouths always open, Freddy died hiding so you barely see him except his eyes and Bonnie died fighting William afton
I’m pretty sure this is semi cannon since William was afraid of Bonnie and that was because Bonnie was the only child that had the guts to fight him back

Agree lol. I love smosh and they sent me down the rabbit hole to begin with. Although much of the lore is up for debate, this is giving 3 people tell you the same story from 3 different perspectives from 8 years ago, from memory at the same time.

Smosh is what sent me digging through lore and even getting into fnaf at all but the way they are explaining it makes it really clear why the lore is so frustrating - there is simply so much conflicting info that unless you're only hearing it from one person at a time you're just going to get a story that has many holes in it, leaves out major parts of one game or another, doesn't make sense, or is baseline inconsistent... or all of the above. regardless it's extremely low stakes in this environment and it's mostly just fun to see them all try to figure it out together 😂

Least from the video essays I’ve seen they all generally just follow a narrative whereas Mat usually follows the road until he drives through a forest or a lake and gets back on the road.

As a teen librarian, the fnaf books do not stay on the shelf and there is always a hold list. My teens love this game and I know nothing about it. And this is actually helping me with my job lol

Absolutely hats of to Amanda - This WHOLE journey was such a step outside of her norm and she was down for it. She played the games - she screamed, she laughed, she cried, she theorised. this series is crazy. amanda learning about fnaf is the most inefficient ways possible. talking over phone guy, coming up with the fungus, and having three people who can't even agree on where to start explaining the lore. that said, would love to see them play pizza simulator (fnaf 6).

The scene where the puppet finally gets out and is looking for Emily, finds her dead in the alley way, and just lies next to her in the rain as the rain slowly kills the animatronic - saddest scene in the series.
@@Andy-roid When you buy the security puppet in the last store catalog you can play a minigame from them, I think if you do it enough times you see Emily outside looking inside, the puppet then leaves the box and you can go outside to go to her.

Honestly, for as absolutely wild as fnaf lore is, you guys did a really good job of explaining the story from scratch in a way that didn't confuse Amanda so much that she didn't understand at all, so great job guys. I also agree with Amanda that the games are scarier when you actually know the lore behind it. I watched lets plays of fnaf as they came out years ago and wasn't scared at all, but now rewatching as Amanda and Shayne play them, knowing all the lore, it's just deeply unsettling and gets to me like it never did before
William Afton didn’t stay alive after he stepped into the springlock suit after the springlock failure. His soul just possessed the suit with his corpse still inside. The diner was in disrepair and the ceiling was leaking, so when he jumped into the suit to get away from the childrens souls the water of the leakage caused the spring locks to fail and crushed him instantly in a painful death. This was a happy “the end” for the kids but as we know, he always comes back. He possesses the animatronic and becomes springtrap, and his corpse rots inside the suit over time

Williams entire rotting corpse fills every springlock and bc the springs are.. well… locked.. he doesnt move as well,, while the children are more souls possessing a suit,, its scattered considering he hid bodies in the suits originally,, however its safe to assume that as time went on either the same souls were guided to the newer suits or the old children were forgotten about as newer children were forced to possess these suits which ultimately led to the robots wanting to become sentient

Evan was crushed by the Fredbear suit in 1983, the regular cast don't get made for a while after, and honestly, the main cast of the first game are actually the ones with the least details regarding their deaths. The only confirmations are names and that william did it *at some point*
Amanda very quickly became one of my favorite members and this episode where she shows such genuine interest and a huge want to listen to all of the information and take it in makes me love her more. I love having people exist around me that just want to absorb information, even if it's something that someone they love is interested in rather than themselves.
Or what's funny is she only fully nerds out on shows cause it's a good place to get stuff out lol. But I could totally see her just bringing it up randomly during an after dinner movie.

Shayne has such an understanding soul. Whenever it felt like so much info was being thrown at Amanda, Shayne always diled it back to Amanda's theory so it was easier for her to understand in her own terms. Its so nice to see :)
love the way amanda handled getting all of that information, so amazing! just want to add that in sister location Baby is not the one talking to you, it is Enard(he is the one who goes inside of scooped Michael Afton). Baby talks about learning how to pretend, its because she is. Enard is pretending to be Baby to trick you to get you to the scooping room to take over Michaels body. Baby is scooped when you walk into the scooping room and yet you still hear her voice, that's because it is Enard. He is a combination of all of the scooped animatronics. You can see him in the window right before you are scooped. I think Baby is innocent in a lot of ways because she is just innocent Elizabeth a victim of her father, just wanted to clear that up, love you guys!!!
Only when you're trying to explain the lore of this franchise to a newbie do you appreciate how well FNAF RUclipsrs are able to package the story/theories in a concise and digestible manner.
I absolutely LOVE how serious they are all talking about the lore. I appreciate the deep dive, questions, and explanations without giving up or making too many jokes that would take away from the understanding. I was also so impressed at @41:00 where Amanda recapped all the info she absorbed nearly 100% perfectly! That was amazing, honestly.
I know even after Anthony's return people like to talk about older eras of Smosh but I can honestly say this is my favorite era. I think *all* of the cast interacts so perfectly and it all feels so natural like we're just watching friends make goofy videos 9with a very high production value lol). I just love the vibes lately.

Maybe, then we wouldn't have experienced this mess of showing their different approaches. Shayne going the empirical approach, Spencer going ham with most of the in-universe stuff but fumbles some off the details in the process and Courtney explaining most of the behind-the-scenes shenanigans and picking up on certain details that Spencer brings up, which hints that she knows more than him.
This entire video I’ve just been talking to myself explaining the lore out loud in a panic lol. The part about phone guy being William had me cackling, this was such a fun watch, despite how much they got wrong lol! (Btw Scott only ever changed the story once, the part they were saying how Scott changed it as people figured it out every time, was completely wrong)

Absolutely hats of to Amanda - This WHOLE journey was such a step outside of her norm and she was down for it. She played the games - she screamed, she laughed, she cried, she theorised. It's the exact reaction you are chasing when you introduce a friend to your fave show/game/movie that they normally wouldn't be into but it's your fave thing in the world! Truly an amazing ride!

@@Andy-roid When you buy the security puppet in the last store catalog you can play a minigame from them, I think if you do it enough times you see Emily outside looking inside, the puppet then leaves the box and you can go outside to go to her.

Honestly, for as absolutely wild as fnaf lore is, you guys did a really good job of explaining the story from scratch in a way that didn't confuse Amanda so much that she didn't understand at all, so great job guys. I also agree with Amanda that the games are scarier when you actually know the lore behind it. I watched lets plays of fnaf as they came out years ago and wasn't scared at all, but now rewatching as Amanda and Shayne play them, knowing all the lore, it's just deeply unsettling and gets to me like it never did before
William Afton didn’t stay alive after he stepped into the springlock suit after the springlock failure. His soul just possessed the suit with his corpse still inside.
The diner was in disrepair and the ceiling was leaking, so when he jumped into the suit to get away from the childrens souls the water of the leakage caused the spring locks to fail and crushed him instantly in a painful death. This was a happy “the end” for the kids but as we know, he always comes back. He possesses the animatronic and becomes springtrap, and his corpse rots inside the suit over time
question, so how come he moves the way he does? like, he doesn't move the same way the animatronics do

Williams entire rotting corpse fills every springlock and bc the springs are.. well… locked.. he doesnt move as well,, while the children are more souls possessing a suit,, its scattered considering he hid bodies in the suits originally,, however its safe to assume that as time went on either the same souls were guided to the newer suits or the old children were forgotten about as newer children were forced to possess these suits which ultimately led to the robots wanting to become sentient

Amanda very quickly became one of my favorite members and this episode where she shows such genuine interest and a huge want to listen to all of the information and take it in makes me love her more. I love having people exist around me that just want to absorb information, even if it's something that someone they love is interested in rather than themselves.

Shayne has such an understanding soul. Whenever it felt like so much info was being thrown at Amanda, Shayne always diled it back to Amanda's theory so it was easier for her to understand in her own terms. Its so nice to see :)
love the way amanda handled getting all of that information, so amazing! just want to add that in sister location Baby is not the one talking to you, it is Enard(he is the one who goes inside of scooped Michael Afton). Baby talks about learning how to pretend, its because she is. Enard is pretending to be Baby to trick you to get you to the scooping room to take over Michaels body. Baby is scooped when you walk into the scooping room and yet you still hear her voice, that's because it is Enard. He is a combination of all of the scooped animatronics. You can see him in the window right before you are scooped. I think Baby is innocent in a lot of ways because she is just innocent Elizabeth a victim of her father, just wanted to clear that up, love you guys!!!

Maybe, then we wouldn't have experienced this mess of showing their different approaches. Shayne going the empirical approach, Spencer going ham with most of the in-universe stuff but fumbles some off the details in the process and Courtney explaining most of the behind-the-scenes shenanigans and picking up on certain details that Spencer brings up, which hints that she knows more than him.
