      No worries dude, I also grew up on Em, got the MMLP first when it came out, went back to SSLP then the Eminen show when it came out and after Encore I kinda lost interest with his work (i now know it was because of the insane drug abuse but i thought he was just getting a little corny and lazy with his beats and rhymes) and that's coming from a then 15 year old me. It wasn't until Kamikaze dropped well over a decade later I was like DAMN! Slim is back! And I've been riding that wave ever since and reintroduced myself to everything in-between that I missed in that decade. I appreciate your honesty in the reactions and although I might not personally agree with some of the things you critique or do or don't like, I do like that you keep it 💯 in all your videos. What are your criteria for a perfect song? What do you value the most in a song?

    • @counterreaction
      @counterreaction  Год назад +2

      There is a vast array of elements that I look for in each song individually. For a song to make it into a playlist of mine, it either has to be extremely unique or retain a level of replay-ability. But personally, a great chorus with substance not just words that repeat. A smooth delivery with solid transitions between rhyme schemes. A little bit of style or swag is always nice. Like some finesse, but not required. But what I value most in a song is cohesion. Which darkness had a lot of. Medicine man did not. Listening to dre’s verse, then hearing anderson and the female vocalist sing, followed with em’s aggression just didn’t feel like it meshed together well. Im glad you asked that question, i need to be better at explaining myself on camera.

    I only disagree on one point. Em has never had unintentional bars....never. Every word has a meaning, fortunately or unfortunately haha. Only intent I've seen is him "simplify the rhyme to amplify the voice". Like Rednan said "Em raps to state things, not to just make a song".

    • @counterreaction
      @counterreaction  Год назад +1

      Appreciate you watching, and I openly accept your point of disagreement brotha. I welcome it, but I just wanted to say. The basis of the word unintentional implies not done with intent. If he did something unintentionally then it’s unbeknownst to him. So I agree, he doesn’t create bars unintentionally, how could anyone. However, bars can be created unintentionally as a byproduct throughout the writing process. Especially true for EM, as his writing style is imprinted in our heads and left a major impression on our understanding of his ability. Ive witnessed some of his fans create narratives of songs, create bars that didn’t exist. To the point to where if it was highlighted and explained to the mass audience, they would be split 50/50. They want it to have as many meanings as possible because that is what they expect. But the fact is, some people don’t intuitively speculate when they are a fan of someone, they just immediately believe what they want.

    • @robertcabrera4760
      @robertcabrera4760 Год назад +1

      @@counterreaction I've also seen a few fans who make something out of nothing, but since I don't let what a small percentage of his fans do to paint Em a certain based on those fans. I agree that things show up in the writing as a "biproduct" of writing but I believe, and it's only an opinion, he writes then critiques himself, takes out those biproduct lines to make it a seamless song. I would love an example of Ems writing that has no point to it. Do ya have examples? Because you did say some of his bars have no point, like throwaway bars. Which examples of those do ya have? Because I have way too many that point the opposite way, as having a point or leading up to something. If there's only a couple/few examples, I'll chalk that up to anecdotes 😎

    Yo this is one of the craziest songs the whole thing is a double, crazy bars through the entire song and first thing dude said was give him a pass for window (winda)…. Bruh how can you enjoy a song if you’re constantly looking for the smallest little thing to “give him a pass on”? But yea great song and video but the political message to get rid of guns coming from slim shady is completely ridiculous. It’s sad but dude went full woke warrior. It started with that garbage bet trump freestyle, revival had all kinds of lame soft ass woke virtue signaling garbage on it. He literally had a bar dissing trump for banning transgenders with a tweet on revival. Coming from a guy who relentlessly slanders gay people and trans people for 2 decades and just as recent as 2015 was still slandering them using the forbidden “f” word. Woke people are some of the worse people on the planet but people who just decide to turn woke and act like they care about all the nonsense when their entire existence up to that point has been the opposite is even worse. Eminem has been a gun freak his entire career now he wants ban guns gtfoh. This is the Illuminati finally coming to collect what they need from him after allowing him such a legendary career with all the crazy shit he’s said over the years. Now they’re like we let you get away with all that shit now we need you to say you’re against all of it or we’ll ruin you.

      Promise you I’m not looking for things to critique on purpose. It just stood out to me, and not in a good way. Not a fan of virtue signaling, it doesn’t sit well with me. Either way, appreciate you watching.

      @@counterreaction Agreed, this new fake woke Eminem trying to act like he cares about all of this garbage is so lame. I still like some of his newer stuff but he’s getting cornier and cornier the older he gets.

      @@troyperry411 I can pick out corny lines in almost every Em song. Im sure his fans would agree with some of them as well. I just dont want to beat a dead horse. Ppl know whats corny and whats not.

      @@counterreaction I wasn’t even really talking about bars but yea he’s always had corny lines throughout his whole career. I think he knowingly keeps some of them in there. My boy does the same thing every time newer em comes in the rotation it’s like he only hears a corny bar
      but I just meant he’s been doing corny shit overall the last couple years. Like he’s desperate to be liked. That’s why kamikaze was as good as it was. He was really butthurt that people didn’t fuck with the music after the political stance he took.

      Hey buddy, I get it. Trust me, I can’t blame anyone for disagreeing with me. Especially if a song is near and dear to you or of course if the artist in question is your favorite. I’ll tell ya what though Ivan, you’re right about that island, it’s a lonely one lol but I see everyone on the islands around me enjoying themselves and I can still appreciate it from afar. Love your passion bro!
