  • The first day on the Lycian Way was more than fantastic! A lot of ascend, rewarded with magical views and jaw dropping rock formations while you slowly leave fast living behind. The thought of walking over a path so old makes it a special experience.
    The Lycian Way is a 540 km long thru hike. It is a way-marked footpath that takes zbout 29-day's to complete. It winds along the south coast of Turkey It starts at Ölüdeniz by Fethiye and goes to Antalya. The old trail is a combination of Roman roads, old footpaths and mule trails. It was researched, designed and waymarked by Kate Clow in 1999. The Lycian Way is Turkey’s first long-distance walking trail.

    2 videos in and I'm already sold. Over the last few years I was looking for a long distance trail in a warm climate (ideally med), not to difficult, not to crowded, great vistas, etc. I think I found a good candidate ;-))

    Do you know if it is possible to pitch up the tent somewhere along the way (wild camping)? Great series by the way. I have been to lycia 3 times in the past 10 years. Awesome place! Always wanted to go back someday to hike the Lycian Way

      You can camp by the second water well and further up where I had a drink. He will not be open anymore but there are flat grounds and maybe you are lucky and you can still use the place. Turks never mind that. I have found camping spots everywhere but maybe not always were you want them. or to early in the day. Get the trekopedia app of the Lycian Way. They have a lot of camping places in there.

      De app van de 'Turkish Cuture Routs Society' ken ik niet. En wikiloc werkt niet ofline. Die van Trekopedia werkt offline, heeft een compas en nog een hoop handige truckjes.
      Veel plezier, het een prachtig stuk dat je gaat doen.

    Amazing journey ! can i ask you about how many km's you are aiming for a day ?

    • @AtHomeInTurkey
      @AtHomeInTurkey  5 лет назад

      It depends on the terrain and space between villages. Sometimes its really hard going. So you can end up with days of 7 km and others of 15 km. You also have to see where you can sleep. Some places have nothing.

      I'll chime in, just because you mention you find it annoying yourself. You could leave the video without music. Your wonderful images speak for themselves and when we're hiking, we want silence, anyway.
