Bastien Salabanzi: The Lost Part

  • It's hard to imagine footage like this getting "lost", but things happen. When Ewan Bowman told us he was working on a never-before-seen part of Bastien we were stoked, but the final product is heavier than we ever could have imagined.

I wish, for Bastien's sake, his story would've played out a little differently. He definitely deserves to have a SOTY under his belt. Hard to accept that all of this footage went completely unused & UNSEEN throughout an entire era of skateboarding. Makes you wonder how something like that could even happen.

Brick Schitthouse I don't think anyone is saying he should be a current SOTY candidate, but back in the early 2000's there's no question he had good enough years. Those cab flips you see everyone doing now, he was the first person I ever saw hucking them down big shit.. nollie heel back lip down handrails.. I could go on. He was definitely a tech-gnar pioneer & without a doubt SOTY quality.

That song was perfect for the part. Music can make or break a video part and this song made this a memorable video part to go along with his next level skating. This seriously could've been brand new footage and it still would've been the best video part to come out in a while. Bastien is an often overlooked legend.

That Blizzard flip at 2:43! I hate how Bastien gets ripped apart for "his cockiness." He is so damn consistent and gets really competitive but that's how he entertains the crowd and you can tell he's still having fun. I feel like that's looked down on in Pro-level contests now and judges want to see more people who don't try anything difficult but make it look good. If that's how they want to skate in a video part, fine but I think they need more skaters like Bastien in contests because competitiveness is exciting to watch.

This was filmed in the 2003-2004 era. To give you proof that his skill was way ahead of his time, Chris Cole and P-Rod were at their peak, Sheckler was still on Almost, Shane O'neill and Nyjah were am, Koston was still on eS shoes, and Nike SB was new and not as popular as it is today. Bastien is a beast

I know the history.. www.jenkemmag.com/home/2011/10/06/squashing-rumors-with-bastien-salabanzi/ Bastien was tired of his sponsors when he was a star when he was just 15 years, the clips of " the lost part" is just before disappearing, when he left his hometown and he disappeared, I'm sure someone did not publish his part to remove of the United States skateboarding scene

***** Holy Shit someone else who gets it. When I first started skating the Flip Sorry/Really Sorry team was, and is, the greatest team in skateboarding.
Then Bastien literally just vanished. Until 2012 I never knew it was because other pros blackballed him. I was so hyped on him, he seemed stoked just riding a skateboard.
As much as I hate Street League, they're to thank for his return to the spotlight. Now if they can bring Colt Cannon back, just promise to leave Tosh Townend working at that VW dealership.

cab flipping everything in sight! best thing about bastien-style is how low he gets on the landings and smoothly absorbs impact. amazing style.

Incredible, so happy to see this! Bastien has always killed it, even 10 years back. The funny thing is, is that new kids nowadays think that almost everything crazy they see is a NBD - When in fact a REAL NBD is very very rare, all the legends have done tricks no one could possibly think of, it's crazy!
