Thanks for being the one who finally contributed this version of one of my all time most cherished tracks of all time!! Metric has always been the soundtrack of my life but that was never more true than when I had my humble queendom abode in Parkdale, Toronto in its prime!! Much love xoxo
Square in the face, Sony spacecraft Hovering over like a third eye Why am I hovering over myself I'm flipping out in the magazine neighborhood Its just like everybody said, you would be greased I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind And play back beautiful music I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind And play back dangerous rhythm We almost forgot, every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally, it almost seemed we Almost forgot, every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally When we started walking, I was in the 1940s Simplfy the politics, marvel at the architecture You were off on camera, gathering the setting sun The red brick building tops Finally it almost seemed authentic As we headed further west, Into the worst, out of the best Magazine neighborhood We saw the trees, and public enemies I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind And play back beautiful music I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind And play back, dangerous rhythm We almost forgot, every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally it almost seemed we Almost forgot, every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally it almost seemed we Moved out of the searchlight Passed under the moonlight Move out of the searchlight Open up and spend the night We almost forgot every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally it almost seemed we Almost forogt every building is a shop Every person is a shopper Finally it almost seemed we Moved out of the searchlight Passed under the moonlight Moved out of the searchlight Open up and spend the night in Parkdale
Thank you for posting this. The version I have is way more drum-oriented... this sounds like a remix. But Metric, PLEASE put this on a future b-sides collection, yes?
I have heard 3 versions of this song (excluding fanfare which makes 4) the version here sounds like a demo, then I have another version which sounds like a better version of this, and a version of the song that sounds newer with no horns in it and the tremolo guitar is more prevalent
god her vocals are so smooth in this version. always reminds me of fucking amphetamines because I had IEMs at work all day and doing manual labour on speed, stay up all night with Emily in my head. Love her so much
@@veronica59 hey veronica I'm back haha, look closer, the arm is not even well aligned the start of her arm. I think it's been photoshoped, maybe to show that her arm becomes the same color as her boyfriend. something like that

Thank you! I love Metric and I love Toronto, so this song has a special place in my heart.
Thanks for this, and all the nice photos of the band. Over the years I have racked up hundreds of the 12,000 views of this song.
My fav metric song
Parkdale till I die!!!
Square in the face, Sony spacecraft
Hovering over like a third eye
Why am I hovering over myself
I'm flipping out in the magazine neighborhood
Its just like everybody said, you would be greased
I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind
And play back beautiful music
I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind
And play back dangerous rhythm
We almost forgot, every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally, it almost seemed we
Almost forgot, every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally
When we started walking, I was in the 1940s
Simplfy the politics, marvel at the architecture
You were off on camera, gathering the setting sun
The red brick building tops
Finally it almost seemed authentic
As we headed further west,
Into the worst, out of the best
Magazine neighborhood
We saw the trees, and public enemies
I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind
And play back beautiful music
I should be living, giving my mind a chance to rewind
And play back, dangerous rhythm
We almost forgot, every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally it almost seemed we
Almost forgot, every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally it almost seemed we
Moved out of the searchlight
Passed under the moonlight
Move out of the searchlight
Open up and spend the night
We almost forgot every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally it almost seemed we
Almost forogt every building is a shop
Every person is a shopper
Finally it almost seemed we
Moved out of the searchlight
Passed under the moonlight
Moved out of the searchlight
Open up and spend the night in Parkdale

any chance you have links to these?
Where are those versions?
There are plenty of Metric torrents that include this song if you search google.

Parkdale now sure isn't what it used to be.
I can't find the album version... wtf
can you tell me where did you find the one that sounds newer?
Parkdale is okay.
emily haines
That's pretty cool. This was only on the 2001 issue, and not the 2007 release?
Can someone tell me why does she have her left hand so dark ? 3:56
I think it's just a shadow on her arm.
@@veronica59 thank you Veronica, I thought about it and I think it is a shadow, but it's very very dark !

It wasn't included on the official release because the community of Parkdale didn't like the way they were portrayed in the song.
