Hauraki Gulf Kingfish - working the anchovy schools at Rakino Island

- Great kingfish & snapper fishing around the anchovy schools at Rakino Island late in the season. Softbaits and micro jigs were scoring some great fish. The Hauraki Gulf / Auckland is such a great fishery for such a large population close by.

Landed about 3 legal kings at 1:17 earlier in the year. Wasn't expecting any kings, so only had softies and no stickbaits but still got the job done. Nice video.
If the kings are chasing the small stuff the softbaits can score over the stickbaits for sure..... nice catch with 3 kings....

Hi Scott, whats that overhead rod?
It's a Hearty Rise Tachiuo rod. Bought it from Gofish. It got pulled over the side of my boat about 2 weeks ago around the back of Motutapu so if you're fishing around there you may get lucky and pull it up :)
