Now Google Translate says they are both 'forgive us', but is there some nuance with makhal and slakh that I am missing. Thank you, Enzo.
That’s a great question! From the Hebrew perspective, only God can provide סליחה (וסלח), but מחילה (מחל) can be between one person to another. So, when we say סלח לנו for sins/transgressions as only God can provide that kind of forgiveness. With that said, it will be interested to find out how was it written and what it meant in the original Greek… After all, this is the Hebrew translation from Greek. BUT, since we believe that Yeshua taught this in Hebrew, I would argue that the first instance must be סלח , but the second could be using סלח or מחל. In either case in the modern Hebrew translation for the Lord’s Prayer, they chose to use the root סלח in both instances, probably because in modern Hebrew we use the root סלח also for forgiveness between one another but only God can forgive for sins.

I did it! Thank you Ayelet. One question about the word יצליח. Shouldn't it have a ך instead of ח as it is ending?
