This girl is not only highly intelligent but her persona draws you to her like a magnet, she makes what could be deemed a boring subject interesting without you realising it. I just wish I'd had a physics teacher like her at my school, I'd like to think my exam grade would have been much higher!
I just explained some German prepositions using your method (or inspired by it!) and my students were both shocked and incredibly focused during my explanation. I believe it worked like a charm! Thank you again for sharing these wonderful videos with us :)
A bit of a late reply, but I found that in high school it usually did the opposite for me because the teacher would turn off the lights completely to give the lecture on the SmartBoard. This just made me sleepy and often times I'd dab off mid-lecture or even once end up in a nearly lucid daydreaming state // Hallucinating // sleep paralysis which immediately woke me up and terrified me. It seemed to work for some though but turning off the lights just instinctually made me sleepy and disengaged. But in this video it had the desired effect of extreme focus, so perhaps it simply is the lighting that is problematic. It seemed to work in biology classes for example, but in those cases there was still some dim light coming through the window and all the students had their laptops up so you're always somewhat engaged with typing notes (which isn't that effective with math as most word processing tools can't easily or efficiently parse mathematical input without spending 2 minutes searching for each symbol and exponent)
@Tibee : This is a genuine comment. I have been watching your videos for quite some time now but never commented. I think a lot of people have math knowledge but the bit that’s lacking is a way to explain those difficult concepts. The way you are merging real visible life with the math knowledge and the communication so crisp, clear and slow I am very damn sure that you will be a great asset to any university and children you teach in future. I guess the world needs more teachers like you who can interplay math and real life providing a wholesome perspective on things rather than just cramming down math in a student’s mind. Keep producing such content. I have been wanting a way back to study math more rigorously now. Was a good enough student in math back in the day but lost the vigor along the way. Thanks for producing such content. Kudos to you and your team on doing such an awesome job.
Reminds me, in ~ 9th grade I encountered some stuff using the capital-sigma (summation) and capital-pi notation (product). At the time I didn't know what it meant, math teacher didn't know either. Back at this time, PC's in school was more of a novelty (mostly constrained to the school library, generally running Win95 or Win98); most everything in-class was done on paper, or via overhead projectors and transparencies...
Toby, your channel is one of a handful of RUclips channels which I follow precisely because you are positive, uplifting, educational, and informative. Your natural charm and teaching skills make even complex topics fun to explore. With square roots you are dealing with the upper limits of my math knowledge, and your videos on deeper, more complex topics often leave me baffled because you are so far beyond my math capabilities. Even so, your presentations are so delightful that I watch and listen anyway, because as I have said often before, you could read a phone book or auto owners handbook aloud and it would be totally charming. Thank you for making me smile and teaching this old dog some new tricks.
I haven't ever been interested in mathematics and I don't know how I ended up here, but she's so soothing and nice to listen to and look at that I'm considering a new career.

Gentle wind and bright warm air with a scenic backdrop and the tranquility of a sparse forested region away from the ravages of dynamic city streets all encompasses to allow this video to be watched and listened to in its entirety with full credit to Toby.
Good way to teach... Your calm relaxing voice relieves the frustration one can have when learning mathematics and your use of association is an excellent means for memorization... I hope your a teacher... If not we'll your a natural and should be, because the youth of today could definitely use your instruction...
You are so professional and you use great visual aids, the sign of a great teacher, Toby. I had several teachers in my father's family, some accountants as well. Fortunately, the math skills passed onto me.
Tibees reminds me of a light hearted, funny side protagonists of a JJBA storyline, she even has that long whaky pony tail ...true Jo Jo character right there.
I'm a really big fan of you Tibee, you might remember my endearing comment "I like my Tibee" It's my call to fame on your channel. Anyways just stopping in to say you make learning fun, and also make my heart ache knowing I will never be worthy of even friendship with someone as cool as you, but I am happy knowing you are making someone happy. Pls take it as a compliment BC you just might be avantgarde, as this simpler less materialistic way of life could make it's way back very soon. And you should be a teacher for the future generation.
I'm very glad to have discovered your channel. I'm learning english. Your speech such as clear and understandable, so I use your vids like language lessons. Keep it going and many greetings from Germany!
Thank you Toby for creating this video. It really helps me get familiarized with English term of math and polish my rusty old math concepts. Look forwards to see more of your video, soon!.
I just happened on your channel. Great teaching style! Very Zen. I watch Physics Girl, Up and Atom, Dr. Becky, PBS Space Time, plus others, so I think RUclips's AI started putting your channel in my suggested column. Glad it did.
You, by no force or means of shame, encouraged me to watch a lesson about mathematics simply because I like trees and Bob Ross. I wish someone like you was my math teacher. My math teacher always seemed upset and constantly yelled at me for falling asleep in class. Honestly made me hate math until I realized the importance of the skill.
Your videos always make me smile :) It's a little bit of naughty funny memey and smarty. Also your narrative/voice sounds like you can talk about anything and it would sound deep and interesting XD
Im so glad i saw your veggie tales video, youre actual content is the kind of stuff im interested in and watch yet youtube recomended that video of yours to me 😂, it makes it ring even more true.
A tree with a ‘square root’. That is brilliant. 😁 Nothing beats white chalk on a blackboard. You just took me back to my school days, young lady. Thank you.
Tibees i have a question A = √B, A is always positive right But if we square both sides, it became A² = B, in which A can be postive or negative. What is wrong with the way i think about this? Why is it inconsistent?
Very cool video, made me notice that the perfect squares move up _perfectly_ with added _oddness._ X + [ X [ X - 1] ] // where X is a whole number difference between 0 and 1 is 1, difference between 1 and 4 is 3, difference between 4 and 9 is 5, difference between 9 and 16 is 7, etc : D
