The animals are used to and many of the predators have actually found a way to cleverly use it as a tool. There's footage of a leopard using the sound of the car engine to sneak up on a warthog. Every time a car would arrive he would creep up closer and closer and when the engine stopped he completely froze again and would just wait until one of the cars turned on their engines again, lol.

I think that the lions are probably being chased or followed and are trying to get some piece as you are right up his ass. I think people on safari are a little less respectful of any of these animals as this is a paid for adventure and they feel like they need to deliver a good experience for their guests. I think one vehicle at a time at a further distance so they do not feel threatened would be better. Some of these people who do these safaris could learn something from the filmmakers who study and film them. THEY NEED QUIET, DISTANCE AND RESPECT. Sometimes there is more than one safari vehicle and it is really noisy and too much talking , moving vehicles around etc..
