Its such a peaceful place
It's always interesting to visit old cemeteries, lots of history.
You could spend an hour reading all of the names on those plaques
What a great video. Chattanooga is such a beautiful place. Hadnt been there in years but love it Thanks for this tour.
You are welcome. Thanks for coming by
I've been there and its a nice cemetery full of a lot of history. Great video!
Thank you This has always been a pretty beautiful cemetery
Thank you so much for this I love videos of old military cemeteries thank you again for sharing this with us
You are welcome. They did a good job with this cemetery back in the day
The local SCV camp members maintain that cemetery. Many of these soldiers died in a hospital nearby and were buried in a different area which was prone to flooding. Many of the grave markers were wooden and a lot of them were lost to flooding. Around the turn of the century (I believe) some of the vets in the area had the bodies moved to this location and they are burried in that mass grave area in the back. They gathered as many of the names as they were able to and put them on those large markers by state/unit. My g-g-g grandfather was in the 33rd Alabama and is believed to be buried there. Thanks for posting this!
You are welcome. It's interesting to see all 3 cemeteries there
This has been my most favorite! I will watch it again... Thank you Andy for these awesome videos
You are welcome I'm glad you like this particular video.
We walked this cemetery 2yrs ago. We love that area lot of history in that area and surrounding areas.😊
Its interesting that there are 3 cemeteries back to back of each other
Andy, you missed one of the most visited graves there..the remains of an unknown Civil War veteran KIA on Missionary Ridge when someone was redoing their house. He was unearthed and reburied with military honors with dual Federal and Confederate in the late 1990’s. Reenactors served as honor guards.
I will have to go back and see that one grave. Thanks for the info
I was on campus the day they buried him. It was very neat to get to witness the time period appropriate burial.
Being from the state of Alabama, both sides of the family, and a few from Texas, I need to visit that cemetery. You are so right, no matter what side they were from we need to respect them in their death. Thank you so much for doing this.
You are welcome and thank you for coming by
Some of those grave memorials and tombstones are really beautiful. I agree with you that we all need to be respectful no matter who the adversary in war is. I'm from Alabama and it's interesting that a lot of the fallen there are from my home state. Of course, we are very close to Tennessee. Awesome video Andy! Stay safe and God bless you. 😃🇺🇸👍🙏✝️
I have raw video of most of those signs. I may do a follow up with just the signs. Thanks for coming by :)
The entrance looks similar to the one at Point Park.
Hope it is a dry and calm day in Chattanooga area today.
Dryer but people are still in the cleanup and recovery stage :(
Love the Civil War videos. Keep them coming.
Will thanks for coming by
Very nice place I’m not sure if we have a cemetery like that I’d be something I’d have to look into
I only know of one but a friend of mine said there are three up in Michigan. I know of The lexington Union Civil war cemetery
Andy's Journeys Probably none it near the west Michigan area that’s where I’m at
@@Michiganderman71 yeah If there are only three that is not a lot for up there
Love the gate ! Nice architecture, but places like this usually do. There is something about cemeteries and the stories behind those graves sites. Its nice that the Confederate have cemetarties like this.
Yeah back in the days when these were built, people wanted to add some nice entrances or decorations. I wish that more modern places would do this.
A place full of peace. Like:)
the older cemeteries always seem more peaceful
God bless them
No matter what side you were on. You have to honor your dead
Hey Andy, I messaged you on Instagram to make sure you were okay after the storms lol. I went out to chatsworth, Ga today and it was really bad. Such a crazy Easter weekend. I’m familiar with the story of Mr Searcy, was planning to visit sometime in the future. Thanks for the video
I have talked with him recently and he and family are okay.
Yeah Georgia took a big hit as well as part of Chattanooga. I am better at FB and Twitter on keeping up so sorry. :)
Andy's Journeys Noted. Glad you’re okay bud. Thanks for all the videos on chattanooga and the area
You are welcome. I probably will have more driving videos coming up as it sounds like we are going to extend the lock down for a little while.
Excellent video, need to explore this before they put the padlock on the gates.
All three cemeteries are back-to-back-to-back citizen Cemetery the Confederate cemetery and the Jewish cemetery it's well worth the visit
