Not into Phish as well but it is a good cover. they do good covers. Quinn the Eskimo / Mighty Quinn was a cool version along with Sweet Jane & Cities. Great live band - would love to see them if I had some extra cash & time.
They covered the Remain in Light album on 10-31-96 second set. It is great (my first show too), but they nailed it, they kept the jams shorter more like the album but still worth a listen.
Dance Party !!! Is all I have to say. Was there… Still to this day I always refer to this back to back bliss as one of my favorites member since 94 !!Still waiting
Was 10th Row Page Side that night....this video somehow doesn't do it justice but the place went bonkers when they opened with C&P in Set 2. Another show that didn't disappoint
was there myself. man i danced my freakin TAIL off that night! was my first but certainly not last Phish experience. This was my favorite jam from the night i asked my friend the name and put it in my phone so my drunk/high ass wouldnt forget
Remain in Light is one of my favorite albums of all time, and never having heard Phish before, I wasn't sure about them covering Crosseyed and Painless . . . but honestly this is pretty damn good. One can be a big fan of a band (as I am, of Talking Heads) without being a prissy purist about it . . . would be nice if people were a bit more open-minded.
I agree, it would be nice. Hell, I'd be thrilled if the box-bound waterheads even spoke kindly and were willing to compromise. Take myself, for example. Before 11/21/97, I couldn't stand The Stones "Emotional Rescue". But on that Friday night in November inside the Mothership in Hampton,VA., The Phish from Vermont opened the 2-day(now legendary) run there with their debut cover of it and melted my face right off of my head. So I compromised, and, although I haven't heard the original since, I dig it.
They did a amazing cover of Remain in Light on 10-31-96 it’s definitely worth a listen. I highly recommend, it made me a Talking heads fan. Also their music took an amazing change around this time and I believe it was the influence of learning that album.
The Talking Heads/Brian Eno original is great--and so is this cover, which takes the piece to its extreme consequences. Both exceptionally good in their way.
I like the more laid back feel the Phish version has. No one can keep pace with the C-E & P from the Stop Making Sense performance, so they didn't try to. On the whole, TH music has a genius simplicity that makes it perfect to cover, quit hating on the natural order of things.
This is a good version but I suggest the Halloween 96' version when they did Remain in Light that whole set was great along with the entire show being amazing another great version of Crosseyed and Painless is the next show 11/2/96 in West Palm Beach. I would suggest checking them out.
I get it. I love both bands. Phish is not a Talking Heads cover band. They pay homage to bands they love and reintrepret into their jammy spaciness. Not for everyone. They are also way past their prime in this version. Check out ruclips.net/video/7C_LpQHK6b0/видео.html from 1996. A little more energetic with Santana's percussionist. You can stop at 10m unless you like it.
Hahaha at all the butthurt Talking Heads "fans" (pretty negative people so I find it hard to consider you real fans of shit) hating on this kickass cover... I'm pretty sure David Byrne was cool with them covering Remain in Light in it's entirety in 96, or the score of other Heads covers they've done over the years, or if he was he didn't say anything about it when interviewing them years ago. You guys realize Phish and Byrne are all buds right? If HE respects the hell out of them covering Heads songs, you should at least keep your damn mouths (fingers) shut (still)...
Shut up lol. They do not try to pretend to be The Grateful Dead. They like being Phish, and as a fan of both bands, I am so glad they don't sound like each other. Variety is the spice of life.
Judging by the numbers you and your musically-out-of-touch opinion are in the minority, along with the rest of the remarks that reflect how many people haven't read the book or "got the message" from Jerry's aura, kindness, and light, either. There's always hope, I guess.
As a Talking Heads fan who has never heard anything by Phish before, I just want to say this a fine cover.

It's not too late Paul!!!!!

Was there, definitely the highlight of the night. Come back to this jam often
Damn I ain’t ever even gone back and listened to this show. Glad it came up in my feed

Greatest band ever.
Yeah Fishman nails this tune and his vocal is excellent on it.......love him on "saw it again" also
The last 5 minutes of "Hood" remind me a lot of Trey's crying guitar in the 12/31/93 "Hood". AKA the day Trey became the best guitarist on the planet.
That hood 93 still gives me goosebumps. Absolutely stunning!
Might be my fav...luv still waiting (crosseyed and painleess) saw my first show at Bader Field, Atlantic City NJ 7/2012!
This show was "Broadway musical" tight. 11:00-15:00 in this vid during "Crosseyed" was the highlight of the night.
Boom!!!
Lost my shit that night lol. The music saved me... at least in my head ;)
from 12:25 - 12:55 might've been the loudest i've ever heard a crowd of people scream and jump up and down. Thanks Phish :)
Great video thanks so much!
There's an ad after thank you Mr Miner. Total buzz kill
Who doesn't have an ad-blocker in 2020?
i’ve never figured how to use ad blockers

I lost my shape, trying to act casual
We can totally NERD 🤓 out to this one (Talking Heads raises your IQ 😂)
Jersey Heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
killer shot !

Right at 8:00 is where they shift gears and I start getting to "that place".
Kuroda Lights!
very nice! what it's all about!
More phish in canada
A song this funky should NOT sound this laid back.
its in their own style, nothing more boring than a cover that sounds excatly like the original
I'm up grooving! Maybe it's just you. ;)

Love ❤️ it
Greeezy fizeeeek 😀

Yep
it was a lil weird. not too energetic that night. it was packed so full you couldnt even move, and it was hot as balls. still an awesome show tho!
still waiting.
Smoking versions, BOTH
7/10/13
total rager: quiet storm.

Tina Weymouth loved their cover of the whole album back in 96. She even said that. Even if the other members didn't say anything.
Talking Heads!
I will Never buy any product advertised during Harry hood
Well, this is an ok cover, but hey...give me the Heads original any day. Sorry, Phish.
Lost my shit trying to act casual!!!....
These guys remind me of the Brady Bunch pretending to be the Grateful Dead. What a mess.
Shut up lol. They do not try to pretend to be The Grateful Dead. They like being Phish, and as a fan of both bands, I am so glad they don't sound like each other. Variety is the spice of life.
looks like someone hasn't read the book
Thanks Jackson.
this is horrible. stick to what you know and leave Talking Heads alone.
Then why are you listening? LOL.
