Brian Regan is probably my favorite comedian. And now I love Nate because he does kind of remind me of him. Not that they're comedy is the same, but probably more because the first time I ever heard either of them, they put me in literal tears.
I’m pretty new to this podcast, and I am in grad school. I’m always looking for things that don’t stretch my brain too much because I’m overwhelmed with new knowledge. This week Nate said “deers” 4 or 5 times as the plural of “deer.” I love this podcast and it’s a highlight of my week. Keep it up!
This year, I’m celebrating Turkey Day by giving thanks for Nateland. My work often involves difficult conversations and heavy situations; but you four get me laughing every single week, and it truly lightens the load. Seriously, thank you! That brings me to an interesting question for a group of comics: when your life gets heavy, what lightens the load? I’m guessing you don’t start telling yourself jokes or reciting your routine in the mirror…
Hey bear! Dusty, back when my mom was just out of college and working in Boston as a nurse, she was walking to work and was approaching a rougher looking individual holding a coffee cup on the sidewalk. As she walked by she threw 50 cents into his cup only to find out it was just a construction worker on his coffee break and he was about halfway through his cup of coffee.

Anyway, I mostly listen to the podcast in my car and always talk it up with whatever passengers I have with me. I’ve turned a few people into Nateland folks. I recently took my 16-year-old niece, Jessica, to Chicago for the weekend and, while she appeared to be sleeping in the car, I turned on your podcast. I found out a few days later from my sister that Jessica texted her the message, “Call 911, I am going to jump out of a moving car if I have to keep listening to this podcast.” She’s not a fan yet, but I’ll keep working on her. Keep up the great work!!

Glad Nate got to Graceland, Elvis is truly a fascinating story. My neighbors dad hung out with Elvis as a part of his racquetball crew. He said he was paid as a staff member but all he did was play racquetball and hang out. He said that Elvis was incredibly generous. He had to stop “working” for Elvis and had to go help his Dad’s construction company. Elvis bought him whatever car he wanted and put an envelope of cash in the glove box. He said he had a big heart and that’s why he got exploited at the end.
Thanks, Aaron, for bringing up Nate's bear conversation with Rogan. Y'all were talking about laughing so had to pull over and that's what I thought of! We were on a road trip, headed home to Kentucky from Chicago. I was driving while my husband and kids were sleeping. When Nate asked Rogan about the bear, I lost it! I scared my husband, woke everyone up and had to totally regroup. I was crying, I couldn't see. Everyone was mad at me, but it was worth it. And no car accidents. I did get a speeding a ticket last week on the way to Nate's show, but I digress...
In this episode (#124) the guys were talking about the Powerball quite a bit. It made me think of something I do with my Algebra students when working with Combinations and Permutations (odds of winning the Powerball fall into this category). I take my class out to the football field, give the students some tools, and then ask them to estimate the number of blades of grass on the field. If they do a good job their answer should be between 200 million and 500 million. The next day we calculate the odds of winning the Powerball off a single ticket, it’s about 1 in 300 million. So then we go back out to the field and acknowledge that having any sort of confidence in winning the Powerball would be a similar experience to thinking you could choose the “winning blade of grass” out of the entire field. Undoubtedly, there are students that walk off the field saying, “I think I’d pick the right one.” 🤦♂ Love you guys,
Nate, I came across your stand ups episode in 2018 and immediately shared it with my family. From then on we have watched and rewatched every special an embarrassing amount of times and quote you in every day conversation. I would like to personally apologize to everyone who had to hear my dad say “so this is it, you get it?” to everyone who would listen all the way up our hike in the smoky mountains creating our own mount rainier moment. You are all so funny and I can’t wait for the Bridgestone show! Hey bear and let’s go folks
Idiocrocy just got swept under the rug, but Dusty laughingly knowing that this cast of misfits could have been characters right out of the movie was great. Mike Judge was way ahead of his time on this one. Nateland literally living out the movie in real time now. Lol. Maybe athletic greens is the new electricro lights. So you're smart huh, I thought your head would be bigger. Looks like a peanut. Dag Gonnit, better question, who plays which character? Who is Luke Wilson, and who is Dax Sheppard.... lol!!! We're having a good time. Dusty for President!
I used to work at a Circuit City and all day long they would play the Circuit City Soundtrack which was just music videos and songs all day over and over and over and over again and most of the songs you would get to hate and just dread when they came on next. But Walking in Memphis came on and I always loved that song because of my feelings about elvis. So I love this episode. Oh and I guess you guys are cool too, even Bandito Burrito... Also, my mom got my dad a urinal for Father's day one year. It was his favorite gift ever, hands down!
We made it folks! Thanks for the Folkland shout-out, guys. As always, Brian knows best. Folkland has weekly recaps of Nateland antics and topics. Subscribe and watch NEW episodes every Friday! Let's gooooo!
So far I've met two other Nateland fans in person. One was a pediatric surgical oncologist that I met when I was working in a very wealthy neighborhood. The other was a gas station attendant that I met at Dusty's Funny Bone show in Columbus OH a couple weeks ago. I think that's my favorite thing about Nateland - it's the closest we can get to a true representative cross-section of America, all different races, backgrounds, religions, whatever. Keep up the good work guys, and Dusty, when I was at your show I was having a good time.
Dusty being the only member of this team to have seen Idiocracy tracks perfectly. As an added "Deep Dive with Dusty" it should be noted that the TV show "Young Rock" is clearly illustrating that the Rock is being groomed to become "President Camacho."
Henry VIII had a "groom of the stool" which was a highly coveted position as it got a person super close to the king. And, because Henry 8 had extreme constipation issues, that groom had LOTS of time with the king. Fun fact
Omg. That Olympics cheating conversation made me laugh so hard! Thanks. I really needed that! Almost caught to new weekly ones with you guys! I’m going to have a lot of free time on my hands 6 evenings a week real soon! 😂
Long time listener, first time commenter. When Bates brought up Danny Almonte and the Little League World Series and how dominant he was as a 14 year old over 12 year olds, it made me think about Kramer "dominating the dojo". Two years difference at that age makes a big difference in baseball kind of like Kramer dominating kids. Love the podcast! Keep up the great work!
Found out ole Brian Regan was a small time college football standout until injuries sidelined his career...pretty...pretty...pretty...pretty cool...pretty cool.
I bet John Crist laughed the entire time he was writing that book. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just one sentence that took the whole book before he made it through it. You guys are the best
Y'all should do an entire episode on the history of the Lottery/Powerball and what has happened to winners over the years. Each of you could go and think through a more specific plan of what you would do if you won, then come on the episode and present that and talk about the history of the winners and how it got started. Would be fun!
You guys talking about how to go about after winning the lotto reminded me about a recent news story about a Chinese lotto winner that kept his $30 million jackpot secret from his family because he didn't want them to become lazy. He accepted the money in a costume.
I'm interested to hear if the Nateland gang will say this is something THEY would do. I feel like Dusty and Nate might do this. Aaron will have a very detailed plan that differs, on what he would do. I feel like Brian would just help everyone and I LOVE that. Hopefully, first, he would take care of his critter problems.:)
@@williamgaleano4392 China doesn’t have lottery. Perhaps another Asian country. Although if china did have a lottery I’m sure that would happen pretty often.
This episode should’ve just continued on about Elvis haha! Great stuff. Listened on my drive from San Antonio to Houston tonight to see Dusty. FANTASTIC show! I’ve now seen Nate, Aaron, and Dusty. Excited to see Brian next year! What did we say it’s called when we see all four of you?
I love the pod, I love all of your comedy and friendship, but what I love the most is Dusty saying exactly what everyone is thinking but are too afraid to say out loud. Keep up the great work fellas!!!! 😂❤
Love you guys!!! Funny as all get out. When I first started watching I didn't even realize it was clean until like three episodes in. Keep making me laugh please.
Nate, I love it when you do the Andy Kaufman "You're from Memphis, Im from Hollywood". When I was in the Marine Corps, I had a drill instructor that saw I was from Memphis and would say that to me (Over and over again). One of my rifle range instructors called me either Davy Crockett or "The Tennessee Kid". Some Drill Instructors yell and some try to make you laugh, then yell at you for losing your bearing! If you make THEM laugh, you win but also draw a lot of attention. See what you missed out on! Thanks for representing the state well! Also tell Aaron thanks for the confidence, if a comedy club will book him, there is hope for new comedians!
My wife and I went to our first comedy show, outside of a cruise ship, and seen Nate in Roanoke. The entire show was awesome, love the guest. It was missing one thing though, I REALLY could have used Aaron. Someone needed to tell the people sitting behind me “Enough!” They came in halfway through Zimmerman’s set, wouldn’t shut up the entire show, kept getting up and leaving and left a mess.
A great testament to this podcast and how off the rails things can get it wasn’t until the very end of the episode I thought “they never even talked about sandals” and realized the topic is actually “Scandals and Animals” not “Sandals and animals”. I half expected to hear stories about pet owners dressing their animals up in sandals and clothes.
I started listening to the podcast a couple of months ago and am finally caught up! The only thing I’ve noticed is that you haven’t had a listener on the podcast as a guest yet🤔 (I volunteer as tribute) Anyways thanks for being funny Nate! Keep it up. P.S. I was also one of the people that didn’t stand up at Brian’s Drybar Special.
Hey Bear 💁🏾♀️. Going back to the Rosie Ruiz story, she couldn’t take the bib off as that’s how they track your time. I’m a runner so that’s how I know. I’ve noisy did the half marathon at Epcot a couple of weeks ago. But she could have cover herself and be smarter about it. How funny if she would have used helium balloons to transport herself to a few block prior the finish line 🤣. Thank you guys for the laughs as always. I always look forward to Wednesdays!
@@brianbatescomedy Nate mentioned a new merchandise shirt in the works. Will that be out soon? I’m hoping it’s says “Hello Folks” 👋 and “Hey Bear” 🐻 I really want to buy a shirt for someone (and myself) 😂 for Christmas! Please let me know! Thank you! Love you guys and I look forward to listening to the podcast every Wednesday! ❤
I was waiting for someone to call out Dusty when he said helium defies gravity. I thought you don’t believe in gravity. 😂 Love the show guys you’re all great!
I live next door to a couple who won a substantial lottery. They are the nicest people and great neighbors! After winning the lottery people came out of the woodwork, sending letters, asking for money for sick family members, debt trouble, etc…. Churches and businesses asking for donations…. Just craziness!!! I think the best thing to do if you win a lottery is to GET RID OF IT as soon as possible!! People get crazy when it comes to money!
I typically just listen to the podcast as I go about my day, but the one time I decide to watch it, Aaron Googles “balloon boy.” And I will never unseen that.
Once when Elvis was just starting to get recognition, he ask my great grandma out on a date twice and she denied him saying “I ain’t going on a date with some hip swingin, hair flippin man”. She definitely regretted that one.
Hey, bear! When Nate was talking about being an invisible assassin, the imagery of a tiny bag gliding along the floor made me laugh so hard. Couldn’t you just stick it in your pocket and make it invisible as well? Or would you have to be naked for the invisibility power to work? Love the show, thanks for the laughs.
You guys talk about people fighting bears, and you need to see this video. Look up John West Salmon Bear Fight ad. I think this is a pretty good representation of what Dusty imagines when he talks about Barry Sanders fighting a bear, but I'd love to hear yall's thoughts. Love the podcast, you guys are hilarious!!
Hey bear! My worlds are colliding! I love to see Nate and the gang showing Brian Regan some love. Just like Nate, Brian Regan Live was such a major influence on me, it really got me into stand-up. And like Aaron, my best friend and I would quote that album CONSTANTLY! In fact, we were both there when he filmed his “I Walked on the Moon” special at the Irvine Improve. Eagle eyed fans can spot me in a brownish hat near the front row. I got to shake his hand and get his autograph at the meet and greet afterwards! I hope to do the same with Nate one day. I tried to get that same best friend into Nate’s stand-up since he hadn’t heard of you… NOT A FAN! Oh well, can’t get ‘em all I guess. TAKE LUCK!!!
I read sandals and animals at first, and didn’t give it a second thought. Any other podcast I would think that’s a weird title, but that’s just another Wednesday for you guys.
I’m really loving Dusty! No where in the Bible does God ask us to celebrate Christ’s birth but most assuredly we are commanded to remember His death-The Lord’s Supper!
To Aaron: all the Noble gases have an effect on your voice. Argon is what you were about to mention that LOWERS it, as do some others. Those are actually dangerous because they are heavier than oxygen, so they will settle in your lungs, making it so oxygen cannot fill that space and will cause you to suffocate. So for Dusty, helium doesn't defy gravity, it strictly follows it and is an example showing that gravity exists. When you breathe in helium it raises your voice, but since it's lighter than oxygen the oxygen you breathe in afterwards quickly fills that space as helium floats up and out of your lungs. That displacement is why your voice goes back to normal so fast. Also quick note: if you breathe in the heavier gases, it does work to stand upside down to breathe oxygen back in so you don't suffocate!
Last comment of the episode...maybe... We used to go to my dad's childhood home, a cabin in the Blue Ridge. One fall we went there, first stop was the outhouse which was filled to the brim, packed side to side with nuts. That weekend we went in the woods and let the squirrels keep their nuthouse.
@dustyslay Dusty I’m so glad you had a good time at the DC Improv! That’s my home town and we sure do love us some comedy! I hope you had time to see some monuments and take the Metro to a kickin’ cigar lounge. Brother you are always welcome in DC. It’s a good time in the nation’s capital…allriight.
SF6, sodium hexafluoride, it makes your voice go all super villain mode. I used to use it in my job for an xray cargo scanner (like you can scan an entire 18 wheeler as it drives through)
Speaking of flying, lots of people talk about having dreams where they're able to fly. The only time I've had one of those, my flying ability was like swimming upstream into the air, and on top of that it was very unreliable. So I had to jump up from the ground as high as I could, hope my flying abilities would "kick in," and then start flailing my arms and legs as if I swimming for my life, just to try and get up to sit on the branch of a tall tree.
Just got back from Nate's early show in Philadelphia. A couple of people yelled Hey Bear at the beginning and Nate seemed annoyed and responded with an unenthusiastic "uh huh hey bear." That was a bummer. His act, however, was very funny and clocked in at a little over an hour. Worth the price of admission. So, Nate, congrats on a job....done.
I’m not sure if you guys know James Acaster, he’s a hilarious British comedian and he does a few bits in his Netflix special on the Chilean Miners. The special is called Repertoire. Very strange but brilliantly written comedy special.
Nate have a great show in State College tomorrow (11/17) I was to go but am in quarantine again! Bring your big coat it’s cold. And don’t forget to check out the Penn State creamery, it’s delicious! See you in March in Pittsburgh!
The issue with the bibs is not just about people seeing them. Bibs have a GPS chip that record runners’ time as they pass through a series of “timing mats” on the course. If someone has a really fast time that seems suspicious, they use that data to see if any timing mats were skipped. There are some “professional” course cutters that will give their bib to a faster runner so they qualify for big events like the Boston Marathon
Saw him in Philly. It was awful. Someone stole our seats. Eventually staff put us behind a column. Not our seats. Tried to make the best of things. Bought two drinks. $50 for two. $140 for two tickets. $35 for parking. We left halfway through. I love Nate.
I’m pretty sure I get mistaken for a homeless person regularly, but one time I think I actually scared people. After a fun night in college, I woke up to my friend banging on my front door like she was the fire department. Apparently, she had lost her phone the night before and was wondering if I had it. No such luck. She asked if I’d search the city with her for her phone. We looked on the sidewalk she cried on at the party and in the parking lot she puked in on the way home. I called her DD for the night to see if she had it. No where to be found. So she goes to ATT to get a new phone. I’m waiting for her in the car when her DD calls saying she found the phone. I hurry into the store to tell my friend, dressed in a black t-shirt, hot pink pajama pants, and a hot pink baseball cap. Probably also hot pink crocs. Oh, and a red coffee mug filled with water that I should’ve left in the car. As I open the door, sirens start going off right down the road. A lady in line looked at me, startled, and asked if they were looking for me. I yelled across the room to my friend, who was being helped by a sales person, that her phone had been found and we made a quick exit without saying another word. I get it, Dusty. I get it.
So I know this is gonna sound crazy but I can’t help but compare you guys to the characters of Winnie the Pooh Pooh- Aaron Eeyore- Nate Piglet- Breakfast Rabbit- Dusty None of you have the energy for Tigger. Love listening every week. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Dusty: “uh I mean..does he have a wand?” Nate: “multiple” Everyone: Awkwardly and Nervously laughing I have not laughed that hard since the dinosaur episode, which is still my favorite!!
(Talking dog) 2:01:46 I read that dogs aren’t capable of abstract thoughts. Dogs show immediate emotions so it would talk with the cadence of the Tasmanian Devil from looney tunes. Which would be a lot to deal with
I recommend the movie Paul! That is actually an ability the aliens have, everytime they hold their breath, they turn invisible. The joke "I should really stop smoking," is made.
Nate CANNOT casually drop that he "might see" someone here in Australia before tour dates are released. I had to stop on my run to try and buy tickets which were subsequently not there. Also, as a golf writer for the past 20 years, I would like to offer my services as Nate's golf concierge when he comes Down Under. We have some of the best courses on the planet, would love to hook him up.
I’m 42…. I grew up in WV… Every guy over 50 wanted to be Elvis and every woman over 40 wanted every guy to be Elvis. I walked down to the video store across the road and the guy in there I would have bet my life was Elvis in hiding…. All that to say… I think today was the first day I hadn’t had some thought of Elvis and had completely forgotten about all that.. thanks Nate.. gotta go.. see if the therapist is in her office..
You guys should try to reach out to mike rowe and get him on the pod. theo von recently had him on his podcast and it was really interesting... He seems super down to earth.
I second, third and fourth anyone suggesting that you have Mike Rowe as a guest, especially if you include his 83-year-old mother, Peggy Rowe, as well (she's a humor writer her most recent book being "Vacuuming in the Nude: And Other Ways to Get Attention"). She is charming and funny, you can tell where he gets it.
Mike Rowe would be my choice for sure. He's intelligent but relatable, and appeals to a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. The only downside would be if the aliens discover that they've found someone who can do their "dirty work" for them...in which case we might be in big trouble, lol!

Nate "if I had a soda machine in my house"
Me interrupting "you'd have diabetes in a week"
Both would be proudly earned.
Keep up the good work guys, and Dusty, when I was at your show I was having a good time.
i’m going to start a tally of how many times the work “great” is used on this podcast 😂 everything is great! love you guys ❤
The word used to be "unreal" or "nightmare". He doesn't say them much anymore 😂
Dusty being the only member of this team to have seen Idiocracy tracks perfectly. As an added "Deep Dive with Dusty" it should be noted that the TV show "Young Rock" is clearly illustrating that the Rock is being groomed to become "President Camacho."
Love the title. One of my favorite Kramer storylines is the Merv Griffin set.
Great show guys! Next episode idea; World Cup/soccer. Great time to get into the sport Nate!
That would be the most infuriating pod to date. Lol
Y'all should do an entire episode on the history of the Lottery/Powerball and what has happened to winners over the years. Each of you could go and think through a more specific plan of what you would do if you won, then come on the episode and present that and talk about the history of the winners and how it got started. Would be fun!
The picture of the guys sitting on Elvis's steps looks like an album cover
You guys talking about how to go about after winning the lotto reminded me about a recent news story about a Chinese lotto winner that kept his $30 million jackpot secret from his family because he didn't want them to become lazy. He accepted the money in a costume.
I'm interested to hear if the Nateland gang will say this is something THEY would do. I feel like Dusty and Nate might do this. Aaron will have a very detailed plan that differs, on what he would do. I feel like Brian would just help everyone and I LOVE that. Hopefully, first, he would take care of his critter problems.:)
Where did he win the lotto? Which country?
@@darrengodssonfielding China, I think
@@williamgaleano4392 China doesn’t have lottery. Perhaps another Asian country. Although if china did have a lottery I’m sure that would happen pretty often.
@@darrengodssonfielding oh alright. Well the guy was Chinese... but I don't know where he won
His Tupelo home was extremely small. The church on the property was a surreal experience. Worth the visit, Nate & Dusty!
I love that too!🤣 Great story, thanks for your service
Hot damn!!! Time for one o' those fancy ole podcasts from Nate n' the gang...Imma dance a jig! Heyyyyyy Bear!
You think they had that technology in 1979?
@@brianbatescomedy Nate mentioned a new merchandise shirt in the works. Will that be out soon? I’m hoping it’s says “Hello Folks” 👋 and “Hey Bear” 🐻
I really want to buy a shirt for someone (and myself) 😂 for
Christmas! Please let me know! Thank you! Love you guys and I look forward to listening to the podcast every Wednesday! ❤
@@annemariecrompto8520 Nate has Hello Folks shirts for sale on his website.
I was waiting for someone to call out Dusty when he said helium defies gravity. I thought you don’t believe in gravity. 😂 Love the show guys you’re all great!
Me too!
"Have you ever done the one that does the opposite..?"
Me immediately: WHIP ITS!?
That killed me! 😂😂😂
Kevin Nealon is a comedy legend!!!
Nate looks so genuinely giddy and happy to be at Graceland.
I love y'all! I most love to hear Dusty and he gets talked over a lot. But I love y'alls chemistry!
I read sandals and animals at first, and didn’t give it a second thought. Any other podcast I would think that’s a weird title, but that’s just another Wednesday for you guys.
The Financial Peace zinger on Breakfast was niche and perfect.
Yay!! I got my first ever comment read and it was the shortest comment I’ve ever left! Lol
I’m really loving Dusty! No where in the Bible does God ask us to celebrate Christ’s birth but most assuredly we are commanded to remember His death-The Lord’s Supper!
Thats mad weird. Lol
I wanted him to explain why he doesn't celebrate Christmas. I was to steal his reason 😂
Omg I remember Dusty doing Elvis! It was in like 2010 at the mill in park circle.
Anyone else hear breakfast say “ hope you have $3,000 to make the 997 million a billion”? 😅
I just listened today and noticed that and that’s why I came to the comments! 😂
Nate has his head on straight and has a balanced attitude about life.
The Harry Potter spoilers are hilarious....reminiscent of Nate's spoilers of The Sixth Sense.
I live in Maine and nothing ever happens but Sunday got ayg on Monday Tuesday no persh but the best by long shot is natelane!
@ 33:00 'BarGraph' thinks 997 Million + 3,000 = 1 Billion and nobody even flinches. Love the show!!!
Lol @aaron ' I can see how that would be confusing I'm a huge fan of cookies"
SF6, sodium hexafluoride, it makes your voice go all super villain mode. I used to use it in my job for an xray cargo scanner (like you can scan an entire 18 wheeler as it drives through)
Should do an episode on the Lotto!!
Fun Fact: The very first concert I ever went to was Elvis. I was five years old and it was at the Houston rodeo.
Elvis getting his haircut while using the bathroom would really be knocking out two birds on one throne. Efficient.
Does anyone else think Dusty lives a wild life? His life stories are always so entertaining.
They did the hold your breath to be invisible thing in the show Riverdale.
I haven't seen Riverdale, but I swear I've seen (or read) it somewhere before too.
Nate, “The Rock… uggghh.”
10 minutes later…
Nate, “you don’t have the right to resent someone just because they win the lottery.”
I get it.
So I know this is gonna sound crazy but I can’t help but compare you guys to the characters of Winnie the Pooh
Pooh- Aaron
Eeyore- Nate
Piglet- Breakfast
Rabbit- Dusty
None of you have the energy for Tigger. Love listening every week. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Dusty: “uh I mean..does he have a wand?”
Nate: “multiple”
Everyone: Awkwardly and Nervously laughing
I have not laughed that hard since the dinosaur episode, which is still my favorite!!
I got up and kept repeating "multiple" on my way to the bathroom 😂😂😂 that was golden!
In Mystery Men, there was a character who could become invisible, but only when no one was looking at him
(Talking dog) 2:01:46 I read that dogs aren’t capable of abstract thoughts.
Nate how come you don’t tour NY!! I thought you’re a NY comic? I want to come see you!!
Did Aaron lean over and fart at 1:57:50?! 🤣🤣
Who in the Sam Hill thinks a deer can’t walk backwards?! Hahaha!
Mike Rowe definitely does not represent everyone.
Mike Rowe would be my choice for sure. He's intelligent but relatable, and appeals to a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. The only downside would be if the aliens discover that they've found someone who can do their "dirty work" for them...in which case we might be in big trouble, lol!
Just to brag on myself, I’ve done stand up at Cap City!!
