Same here. Oldfield's music has been the soundtrack of my life, and so has it been to all my family. You don't only listen or enjoy Mike's music, you acquire it, it becomes part of your mind and soul.
😮 absolutely amazing !!! Genius !!! I‘m a great fan of the Genesis arrangements for 2 grand pianos but Oldfield is also so fascinating. Can’t get enough of this sound . So beautiful … 😊
Anyone in 2021? Oddly enough I've started listening to Mike after a bit of a break. To my mind Crisis represents all in 80s prog. This take on it is gold. A big thankyou
I‘m really surprised how well Mike‘s music can be played on two pianos solo. I would never have thought it that this could be done. But it can and it sounds really great, very well arranged and played. I do think though that your version of for example The Lake is better as a piano piece than Crises although I generally prefer Crises (one of my all time favorite piece of music). But there is the brilliant work of drummer Simon Philips and there are these amazing colors of the electronic sounds that make Crises so extraordinary to me. Similar with Ommadawn, where I enjoy all those world music sounds of Uilleann-pipes, recorder and all that. Still, in your version it is proved that the music is still great when you strip it of all the multitude of sound colors and reduce it to the pure music and the sound of the piano.
I've read reviews that say Mike's decision to sing himself was a terrible one and that it more or less ruined the album, but I couldn't disagree more. While Jon Anderson is, as always, amazing and Roger Chapman's performance on Shadow on the Wall is stellar and passionate, it's Mike's own singing on Crises, less skilled to be sure, that I find the most charming and is my favorite male voice on the album. I love the way his voice cracks a little the second time he repeats 'crises, criiIses'; sounds very raw, very punk, and I think sells the whole aesthetic of the segment. My favorite Oldfield album beyond Tubular Bells, even topping Ommadawn, and one of the most eclectic albums I've ever heard; no two songs sounding anything alike, yet all being great.
i've already express my amazement and gratefulness for you Carsten, your work is awesome, and I also think the beauty of these versions shows once more how Mike's music is unique and solid and incredibly well "built", you take away his playing, all the different colours of the many instruments and it's still as beautiful...thank you so much!
Extraordinaire adaptation et c'est joué avec grand talent. Je suis bluffée ! Génial !
Mike Oldfield is my alltime favourite musician and I have been a fan of Mike Oldfield since I was 5 in 1974.
I was 13 then and.....me too

No hay palabras para describir ésta maravillosa música. En su versión original es excepcional pero en ésta versión es....mágica.
