I usually like these videos but this one made me kinda realise that it's maybe not always about the camera🤔. If you go to your local public playground with your kids and you see a man with a mask, glasses and a hat exercising his 1st amendment right to film in public and he silently stands on the playground and films and zooms in on all the kids for 2 hours straight, I wouldn't call a concerned mom who calls the police on this man a Karen, even though that man is exercising his first amendment right and didn't commit a crime. Am I crazy😂? What is your opinion on that?

@@cd6305 my opinion? First let me say I follow alot of auditors. Not 1 single auditor intentionally records or exposes children. I would say if there's someone intentionally recording children for that long, that isn't a parent, I doubt they have good intentions. I'm never one to call the police, but I can understand how someone who doesn't know their rights would. If that happened while I was at the park with my child I would be an arms length away from my child to protect them or we would just leave. But again, I don't know anyone who would intentionally record children just to practice our 1st amendment.

If there is a threat, and the person is outside, it would be a good thing to do.
In this case, there was no threat, and the caller exaggerated, even her deadly fear and hate for men, so the dispatcher was given 100% false information. Wrong advice is the result.
It’s stupid ignorant dispatchers like that, who warrant training on the LAW (not feelings) and constitutional rights.

I agree in principle but dispatchers can't assess a situation over the phone. They are trained in communication and just to be a contact between callers and law enforcement. And not what calls police or emergency services need to respond to.

I have seen it happen, but it's a rare occurrence,
The only other way to educate the dispatcher is to head over to the police dept. first and ask the dispatcher what she would say if someone called about a person filming in public.. and either correct them on the spot or ask for supervisor to see if they know. Or even better just call their 911 directly right from where you are filming
and inform the dispatcher directly what to say.
@@jimbstars Calling 911 for a non-emergency can get you dinged, depending on the mood of the cop you are dealing with.
It's their training, or lack of it, so dealing with their supervisor might be the best route, if that does anything.
I have seen some audits where calls are quelled at the source and dispatch asked the proper questions and told the caller that the person was not breaking a law. Too few times though.

I’ve watched dozens and dozens of these videos, and I’m a retired firefighter so I see it from the perspective of working for a city FOR the public. It seems that people have been conditioned to think it’s only safe for the government to watch us, but not the other way around. Accountability and public relations are good things. We had auditors show up at the station one afternoon. We invited them in and gave them water. No problems.

We all watch these videos and we know exactly why the auditor is there. Not every suspicious person call to a dispatcher is a first amendment auditor but actually someone doing something nefarious. I think it was good suggestion by the dispatcher that if they felt safe to lock the door until the cops determine there was no threat

That Karen would cause a riot in an empty house. Even after the cops told her everything was legal and law abiding, after they left she called it in again. The same two cops should have returned and threatened her with arrest for knowingly making a false call. If she was that scared and upset, why did she stay when the cops arrived and left??? The dispatcher needs to be disciplined for not calming the situation with an explanation, instead telling the Karen to lock the doors if it was possible causing a hostage type situation, unbelievable. Cops did the right thing, pity the Karen was having non of it. The Post Office employee didn't help one bit, she KNEW it was in poster 7 and everything was above board, she could have told Karen the rules.
I think the call after the cops left was to some postal number asking for another employee to be sent so that the woman PO employee wouldn't be alone. I'm pretty sure if the PO thinks they have to pay for an extra employee just to babysit a woman employee, that woman won't have a job much longer.
In the UK, if we called the Police just for someone filming, we'd be arrested for wasting police time.
Karens who make something from nothing should mind their business,dispatch needs training on these calls as well.

It is nice that you're starting to see police officers acting correctly and respectfully about the first amendment rights of citizens. It is clear they have seen the videos and they have become that small percentage of police who want to follow the law rather than face lawsuits.
