    The nice thing about using the gel plate is you don't need much paint...a few drops spread out thinly applied delivers nice results. TFS

    A ball point pen works very well in scoring the foam. The mark will be a little wider and deeper which creates a clearer design. It gives a smoother feel when creating your design also. I saw it on a video but dont remember where. I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing!

    You could have softened the edges of the foam impression stamp on the Gelli plate with a damp cloth, sponge or Q tip so there isn't another hard edge.

      I can't send you images here. I like to integrate them into collages or print right onto mixed media paintings on paper, where I interact with the image with paint.

    Thank you for this great demo. What have you found to be best way to clean the acrylic paint off the brayer?

    • @alisonwatt8570
      @alisonwatt8570  2 года назад +1

      I just scrub it lightly with a soft scrubber. I don't mind a bit of paint on it as long as it hasn't built up and left texture on the brayer. The best think is to get it into water as soon as you use it

    Hello Allison, enjoyed your demonstration. Where & how do you store your handmade plate.

      I keep my plates on a hard level surface, covered, either with glass or parchment paper.

    Great ideas, thank you! Are you using basic printer paper just for examples? Otherwise, do you use mixed media paper, print making paper, etc??

    If you wanted to paint something onto your base Gelli prints, does the copy paper hold up? Is there another smooth paper that would be suitable?

    • @alisonwatt8570
      @alisonwatt8570  2 года назад

      any paper would work. I was using the copy paper for work that would be glued into a visual journal. But you can print onto a higher quality paper, a good drawing paper; a 90 lb hot press watercolour paper would print beautifully.

    Instead of using pencil to indent the butchers foam . Why not use an old ballpoint pen this would leave a clearer deeper impression and achieve desired imprint. Margaret

    Very nice ideas, thank you ❤️ How long does the home made gelliplate last?

    • @alisonwatt8570
      @alisonwatt8570  2 года назад

      I think if you store them carefully--ie between two sheets of glass or plexiglass, they can last a long time. The ones made with glycerine don't even need to be refrigerated

      @@alisonwatt8570 I’ve watched a couple hundred gel plate videos and not heard about a homemade plate you don’t have to refrigerate, even one with glycerin. Or heard of one without glycerin. 🤯 But I learn something new almost every time I watch a gp video. While I’m here, do you mean to call your styrofoam texture plate a “stencil”? If so, would you enlighten me about why? I’m accustomed to thinking of things like the viney botanical stencil as stencils. Thanks for some great new ideas to try and a beautiful color - the teal, yellow ochre and white, contrasted with NAG. Gawjus!

      Hi, thanks for feedback. I guess I called it a stencil for lack of another word for it. Any ideas?

    • @63artemisia63
      @63artemisia63 Год назад

      @@alisonwatt8570 It’s a texture plate. If you search online for stencils, you don’t see anything that looks like what you’re calling a “stencil.” You get flat, two dimensional sheets with cut out designs.
