Because of the new technology of rackets, they slowed the courts to generate a balance,if we put the modern rackets in the old grass all the matches would be like Isner-karlovic and tennis audience will decrease and naturally dissapear, they didnt slow the courts to benefit baseliners, they did to maintain the balance
Yes,the courts are slower but that's because of the new rackets technology, there are many aspects who determine how fast a surface is -racket technology -weight of the balls -speed of the court -bounce of the ball They need to create a balance to the surface be competitive,if they maintained the speed the servebots would dominate the tour and also the audience will decrease a lot
@Jack RYAN Yes there are. Montréal, Cincinnati, Dubai, Shanghai.. to name a few. But the essence of grass courts is a bit lost in these last few years.
Juan Esteban Kruh Sanmguel then according to your logic the court speed should have been the same rather than getting slowed. I mean if modern racket technology increased the speed of the shot( ball velocity) then courts should have been slowed only by some amount where the speed of the court is almost equal to late 1990s and early 2000s. But now even a 140 mph serve is easily returned. So things have been slowed down far too much than necessary. And your argument that fast grass courts would decrease tennis audience is absolute bullshit. Grass season is hardly a month. It would be good to see different tennis being played for a month than playing long baseline slugfests.
His forehand actually became noticeably worse since around 2013 or so. The bigger racket might have had to do with it, but at the same time he improved his backhand.
