I didn't know I wanted one of these until now.... 😍
Thank you for doing this, I’ve been eyeing these guys for a while now. I figure 6-8 in a 75 would be pretty incredible.
Man I love Macrognathus. But I've wanted more captive bred ones
It's also really annoying when people don't share cause it's an entire family of fish thay are solely wild caught at the moment which is easy to have something happen and damage the ability to keep them
My fire eel, which is still small, has a great personality, but you're right when you say you don't really see them much other than at feeding time. I have never had an issue with him in my community tank either, and I would imagine you're correct yet again in that these smaller cousins will be the same.
these things are stunning!!
I simply love them❤.
I have eight of these and they are so cute!
Eight! Holy smokes
@@SteenfottAquatics I started with four and two months later, I had to have more!
Hmm. Def may keep someday but currently focused on my tubs and maybe specific Koi breeding. I know, not your thing. BUT I do have a new crop of Myuki fry!
My tubs so much more rewarding than tanks!
The Orange neos I got from you are doing well. Neos seem to be good for my water.
I see mine all the time he swims none stop up and down
Aww, Cutie Noodles! I bet these will be popular.
I am fascinated by these!❤ If I get one, it's gotta be named Gonzo..😅
Totally a Gonzo!
How many can i put in a 40 gallon ? Currently have a red tail shark 2 corys and 1 loach
how is their appetite as far as tank mates? will they eat smaller fish? shrimp?
What tank size do they need
I got one of these from the batch Dan had in April. Absolutely the funnest fish I have ever kept.
How much are they ?
What size tank do you need ?
Are those Peacock Eels & maybe a different type as well am I seeing at the beginning of the video ?.
Great. Hey Dan and Bob.
Aww I wish these were smaller, they're cute!
I found this eel in Java river with greenish color and orange ring on their body
will these eat the shrimp in my community tank?
I just bought 5 for my 75 gallon. I can’t wait to get them!!!
I am so happy for you!! You’re going to love them!
Did you use my code to get 5% off? =D
Can I have 1 alone or do I need to get a pair or group? I'm really interested on buying soon when they come back in stock.
This is a nice look eel I wish they would get bigger
I just got a short fin eel.
What are they called?
freshwater eels are freaking awesome! my little zig zag eel (Mastacembelus armatus) is the coolest. Super friendly.
Masta? uh oh that little guys gunna get 3 feet and as thick as your thigh
Bucket list just got a bit bigger!!!
This fish come from my country in sumatra indonesia this fish is called sili fish im suprised to see this fish in another country
I really think these are going to take off once they become more numerous. A true nano spiny eel (with an outgoing personality)
is just too enticing for fishkeepers.
What size tank would you need ?
Do they need a group or ok on their own ?
Price ?
Good alone but better in a group. I wouldnt go smaller than a 20 for one.
@SteenfottAquatics ok and what is the going rate for these each ?
I want a eel friend
Can you put them in a chiclids tank?
Depends on the cichlid species.
@@SteenfottAquatics African chiclids
Can they be with kribensis chiclids
They look like hummingbirds
They are cool when they come out to eat, I hardly see them because they hide all day
How many do you have? What size aquarium? I’m curious what experience keepers are having with them besides ease of care.
Did you get them from Dan? Mine are the opposite of yours. They are always at the front and they're friendly. When I clean the glass they hover around my hand as well
@@Dylamos how many do you have? What size aquarium?
@@mr.kalopsia3273 I have 6 split between ,two 40g beeeders

Captive eels basically have to be tricked into breeding by artificially changing their hormones and forcing them to mature. Once they’ve matured and bred… they die. That’s why in the Sargasso Sea we see adult eels go in and baby eels come out, but never the other way. I don’t have specifics on hormones and levels, but that’s the only successful method of captive breeding eels we have so far. Anyway, that’s what we know so far, it’s hormonal change we don’t typically see in captivity.
You are talking about Anguilla anguilla, these are not even related to Mastacembelidae, which are shown in the video
yeah no you’re talking about actual eels. The “freshwater eels” referred to in this video aren’t even very closely related to actual eels, people just call them that because they look kinda eel-like.
They breed like most other freshwater fish, they don’t die after they spawn, and they don’t live in salt water at any point in their lives.
Freshwater eels live in freshwater as juveniles and adults but migrate to saltwater to breed.
Yes for true anguilla eels, but spiny eels are completely unrelated. They technically aren't true eels in the first place
I still need to get several of these....They look orange which makes me want to buy a few that much more!! 🧡🤍
You should!
