Have you considered the small folding utility knife sold under the workpro brand, folded steel frame lock very thin but you may have to remove the pocket clip to get the best fit.
As a fellow small PSK enthusiast & creator I strongly recommend gravitating to the Altoids style boxes that are 3/4” larger in length & width as well as 1/4” in depth. They capacitate more robust tool options. Another fun option is to use a matching tin (they’re sold in 3 packs) to build a completely separate first aid kit that also carries H20 procurement options. It’s just as easy to slip 2 tins in one’s pocket when trekking. Building a survival camp out of the tiniest tools from Altoids boxes is challenging in a real deal simulation. Thermoregulation is practically impossible as is staying dry and getting any sleep at all. Speaking of sleep always carry 4 Benadryl. Lastly: 3mil contractors bags. Folded neatly. Three. Without them an unanticipated over night absolutely sucks. Without ersatz cover, a poncho and “sleeping bag” the 8-9 hours of frigid darkness feels like 36 hours. Wishing you all the best on future builds.
A Swiss Army Knife would be more versatile and relatively inexpensive. A SAK can be kept in a pocket, or on a belt, etc. Some prior training would be important for some of your items, for example for snares and fishing. You don't mention shelter or an emergency blanket.
Correct, I hope to include a trail video when I roll out these kits and the items being implemented for their intent. Shelter was one of those items that was really difficult to fit in here, I had a kit before with a small 40x80In Emergency Blanket in it, but it took around 70% of the available Space in the tin. ^^ It's funny, I have never owned a Swiss Army Knife before!
@@ok-gunrunners I am developing three kits for my own use: * Urban EDC * Day hike, with emergency shelter * Multi-day camping & backpacking. I'll probably have a SAK for all three kits. The multi-day kit will also have a fixed blade knife, kept out of sight when not in use, so as not to give anyone an excuse to ask awkward questions (bearing in mind UK knife law).
@@TheTerryMarsh1 That's what I love about these kits, you can fashion them to your needs and intent! I have seen many kits broken out into fire kits, fishing kits, etc.
Thank you! Just checked out your channel and subscribed! Looks to be a treasure trove of goodies to watch! Altoids kits are fun and frustrating at the same time... You can shoot for perfection, and then you find holes in your kit each time 😂
@@ok-gunrunners could not of said it better myself lol. thank you! Its a work in progress slowly but surely. your kit is one the most complete i've seen to date definitely something to be proud of.
Seen this on Ebay years ago .. Your's is much better than most. There's a guy selling an $8 kit for $40 .. billed as an Altoid kit but wont fit in an Altoid tin .. There's a guy that gives you crappy cheap stuff thats not even helpful in survival
I have the nano light in some of my kits but I prefer the Olight i1r2 which is a little bigger but is rechargeable and on low can last for 6 hours while the nano light will give you less than a half hour of light before the batteries fail. The Spyderco bug or better yet their Honeybee makes a good knife for small kits like this. Thank you for your ideas and the video.
I have yet to get one of those, I have been curious on them! I might pick one up and see if it is a good replacement! Thank you for the suggestion and insight.
I am currently still working on the final product... I am looking for more suitable items for the blade, light source, and a few other Ideas... I hope to at least get the "Basic " Altoids tin ready for purchase in the next few weeks.
I will be conducting a trail video next week of the new items I am putting in these kits to see if it is worth selling! I think they are near completion.
Nice kit. I use a buck bantam 284 for my knife in my kit. I run the quality vs quantity method for mine.
A P-39 GI can opener would be nice & is safer than most things used to open a can if needed. Very small. I always carry one on my key chain.

I am not familiar with this product? I will have to check it out!
Thanks for the suggestion!

I would buy one…. Nice job!
Marketing is everything. Looks like a decent kit, Best of luck to you. Cheers.
Thank you sir, I don't want to just make a quick buck off of someone; but rather sell a useful or practical kit!

Are you selling these kits at this time? If so, have you done an update video to the new set up?

How will we know if and when you will sell new kits?
