Whenever I use tins or plastic containers I wrap electrical or tape or duck around them, it helps to seal out water and comes in handy for other uses (repairs, bandages, etc).

My unk showed me how to make a fish hook he learned in France in 1917 in the war. Taking a small wire he showed me with a paper clip and a small rock to flatten the end to make a point and we got a fish we let it go because we were having a family day and didn't want to drag a dead fish around but it works for a 6 Year old.

Soda can tabs is a cool trick too.

I guess when you are 13 and in France they don't have a can but I can see that it would make a great Hook thanks for the heads up on that.

I keep an inventory of green matches. The dryer lint thing I think has something to do with all the humidity build up in there. My fishing kit I usually put in prescription bottles. Yaupon holly grows wild in some areas and has caffeine naturally. Chicory, sassafras, dandelion root, blackberry, and raspberry root along with many other plants and some mushrooms like turkey tail, and reishi can be brewed to make a "coffee". Of course that takes knowledge.

Those mini tins inside the bigger tin take up too much space but you made a great little kit. Thanks for sharing.

I cheat with charcloth and I make char cottonballs. I buy an empty 1 gallon paint can at lowes. Pop a hole with a nail, cook it on my gasifier twig stove when it gets full of scrap tshirts or my favorite, blue jeans.

Loo, rainbows and unicorns... thanks for another great video, planing on something similar but I'm planing on putting it in a decent sized fishing kit toat, I'll be making it a tighter fitted closing with the help of black tape, on the inside edge as well as the outside once it's finished, trying to make it somewhat water resistant, as always prayers for you and your loved ones as well as our country

You could definitely fit more in just the Altoids tin.

Good for making a seasoning mix kit too. With sugar. Herbs for medicinals. Willow bark IS aspirin in it's raw form. Shave & steep to make a tea if you need it. Small amounts of bark until you know YOUR dosing amount. Too much is bad and EACH body reacts differently.
If you have a couple of these kits in certain places they'll be there to help.

I added a new feature to my survival kit. Some darts. Now to figure the best roll up material for a board. Worst case scenario: use Velcro darts and board, but a fresh cut off of a fallen tree has nice rings on it... I mean bowling is pretty much out. Ammo is limited and alerting. A dart game? Possible weapon, fine muscle training, Strategy, and self analysis. Sounds valuable at this point.

I bet a chicken sized oven bag would fit in that tin for water. You can boil in those if careful.

But I am wondering on the fishing and hunting kit what about fishing line? Also on the extra first aid I make single use first aid cream and ointment straws that would fit very nicely in these small tins. Also where do you get the small tins with the sliding lids on them?

Those who "bug out" during SHTF will most likely become hungry, desperate homeless refugees. If you think civilization will decline significantly, then get out of the dangerous city now, and remove yourself from many threats, then build a new homestead that has all that you need.
