- I wanted a backlit mirror for our new bathroom, but the mirrors online are so expensive. So I decided to build one myself.

FYI: Bought a similar mirror from H.D. (Dec 2021, in Canada). It had a white plastic protective film on the back that needs to be removed before gluing. I didn't know this and discovered PL will not adhere the film. Not a huge deal, b/c the mirror is glued to the frame on the ground. Any hoo I stripped the film, then re-glued the frame and is now all good. thank you for the video, very helpful :)
Thanks for this info! I haven't bought many mirrors, but I have never seen one with a film on the back of it. Usually there is only film covering the front glass. That could have turned out bad for you, but glad all is good.
I tried this technique and same adhesive with a 60lb, 82X36” mirror, using the same hangers also. The mirror cracked while hanging on the wall due to expansion and contraction. The crack occurred exactly where the wood strips were adhered to the back of the mirror.
Nice job! I’m going to do the same!
Beautiful! Exactly how I like it and imagined.
Wait.. u skipepd the most important step: how did u put it on the wall?? Did u just use the same glue for the wood and put it on the wood and then glue it? How long did u need to hold it in place for? Also what are those "brackets"?
Literally what I came here for
Same here.
That important steps.
Looks like the bracket he used are metal cleats. Gluing the wood onto the back of the mirror allowed the cleat on the back of the mirror to be screwed in. He would have put the opposing cleat into the studs of the wall and that's how it's mounted.
Also he put the power source on the inside? Was it a plug in or battery pack? If it's a battery pack you're going to have to remove the mirror often to replace them batteries
@@ahhhmedia8749it’s a plug. You can see the wire and block on the right when he’s gluing the brackets. Then in the bathroom it’s plugged in the socket on the right
Thanks for sharing it’s beautiful and very impressive.
How does it charge? Is there a cord that connects to an outlet? Where is the cord? Or is it battery operated? How do u turn it on?
You shole asked a whole lot of damn questions 😂😂
@@LayyRixchezz but he asked the real question, I don't have an outlet near the mirror so that's a problem for me so if he's not using any outlet, that'll really help me out
@@LayyRixchezz and tbf he asked only 1 question
It’s connected to the wall on the lower right side
Very nice, man. Do you find that you still have to use the vanity lights above it, or does the backlight give enough light on its own?
The WIFI LED lights you chose look great. I noticed you attached a metal French cleat to the wood frame to hang it. You could also build a French cleat into your frame perimeter and not need the metal. Thanks.
Thank I'm moving into my new apartment, I'm about to do this but with a smaller mirror, half the size of this but put it behind my bed frame.
How did you conceal the wires ? Did you add a receptor behind the mirror before placing it on the wall?
You can see the transformer plugged into the wall lower right.
Omg thank you for this video it save me some money I can do the bathroom mirror on my own even my room mirror to
Sr your my hero going to do the same as you did thank you, you ain't lying those light up mirrors online are so expensive
Great job thanks for sharing. Just wish you showed each step installation at list for a shor🙏🙏🙏🌟🌟🌟
Thanks for this! Is this only controllable by the app, or is there a button or switch you can press too?
There is a button at the end of the lights that I made accessible behind the mirror right at the edge. You need the app to change the color and effects. You can also control with this remote that I ended I buying. www.bestbuy.com/site/wiz-wizmote/6436478.p?skuId=6436478
Do you have to add a bracket to the bottom of the mirror or can you just add two of them to the top of the frame. I’m doing this to my mirror btw!
So did I miss something ? how did you mount it to the wall and if you used 3 lots of light strips is that three power outlets you need.
I never filmed putting the brackets on the wall, and it was pretty hard lifting that mirror up by myself and trying to fit perfectly on the brackets. The lights I got only require one main piece to be plugged into an outlet the other pieces are connected to the first piece. They chain together so only 1 power supply is needed.
Nice wrk. How do u recharge the led lights? Ok, I just figured it out by doing a little research
tell me
Como hizo para colgarlo, además de donde viene la fuente para que la luz LED funcione??
How do you use mount?
How did you fixed your diy project on wall.. Pls share details..

Hi, what was the thickness of the wood you used. In other words, how far off the wall did the mirror stand off? And now that you’ve done it, would you change it and if so to what measurement? Thanks.
They are 1x2s but actual width is 3/4 so it is 3/4 inch off the wall
Make a mirror face a mirror then wait till it gets super dark bin the background of the reflection and see how far you can go
But did you just plug it into a walls outlet? I wouldn’t want any wires exposed. I wonder if I could hardwire the Phillips hue light strips behind the mirror?
I have mine plugged into the wall with little wire showing. If you want to hard wire then you will need a 24w 12v DC LED Driver. You will need to splice off the led light wall adapter and connect the wires to the LED Driver and then you can run wires from the LED Driver to a light switch easily. I have this setup for our downstairs bathroom mirror and I may make a video for it eventually.
@@TheCaughmans show us please
I was wondering the same thing, I wouldn’t want the wire showing at all
Did you just plug it in to an outlet? I wouldn’t want any wires exposed. I wonder if I could hard wire the philips strip lights behind the mirror.
Looks nice but all you explained was how you glued the led to the back of the mirror
How did you hide the power adapter for the lights?
He didn’t hide it, at the end of his video you can see it plugged into the wall on the right. Weird he couldn’t just say that after being asked so many times. 🙄
how many lumens you think it's min to have? it looks a bit dim for makeup?
I started the project and tried the LED strip and it's not bright enough
Did it hold up?
Still holding on strong and has been wiped down many times. It still looks and works great.
@@TheCaughmans cool I’m gonna make one based of yours. Thanks for the knowledge 🤘
What app did you use to control the led ?
Thank you!
The lights that I used are controlled by Wiz Connected app. I also found a remote control made for those specific lights that comes in handy and was cheap.
@@TheCaughmans okay. Thank you for this.
What a half-hearted step-by-step explanation of your project.This is not a "how-to" video. It's a "look-what-I-did" video. Well done, son. My 12 year-old daughter could do this.
It’s a pretty complete step by step guide. If you can’t follow it, then the project may be out of reach for you. Or maybe ask your 12 year old for help.
Does it say it’s a step by step instructions video ? It’s a diy video relax yourself if you can’t see the fixings and work it out then you aren’t capable of doing it in the first place
Daddy’s not home… we can’t turn on the light because it’s on an app on his phone??? 😂 Love the look not sure I understand how it works
Buy the remote
You didn't really show me how you attached it to the Wall or how the power source works. Your video is inspirational but it's not detailed enough to be called a DIY video. Please show ALL of the steps not just a few. Thanks though
He didn't show it but there are two brackets (top and bottom) . They look like french cleats. One goes on the wall. The other goes on what you are hanging. It's like a interlock system. Wall part sticks up and other down, like your hands locking on each other. Hope that helped.
Not bad but the plug is fucking awful.... Im trying to think of a way to avoid that problem
but why?
because it looks cool? why did you search for the video then
I knew this was a waste of time just by the intro
