- I go back to retrieve my backpack and clear out the house to set up as my first base. I have a tradition to raise a specific flag on every one of my bases, but this time it poses a slight problem.

Rock on! I just got back from the NGL '24 event they held down in NC and it was bittersweet knowing I couldn't meet the man. But they still honor him as much as they can. Long live the Wyvern King!
Always leave an escape route. Also drop a bag outside your POI. Then remove if not needed.
You're so right about the escape route! As well as the sleeping bag, but when you die, it gives you the option of spawning at your sleeping bag, random spot, or near your backpack. Seems like spawning near your backpack would be similar to spawning on your sleeping bag that you dropped near the POI.

How do I label the storage containers?
It's actually pretty easy! Press and hold whatever button you use to open the container. On PC, it's the e key. Press and hold e over the container and you'll get a radial menu. The top will be a magnifying glass, which opens the container. On the right is the option to lock the box so that other players cannot open it. On the bottom is a calculator which allows you to enter a code that you can tell your friends so that only they can open it (besides yourself, of course). *****And finally, the pencil on the left will allow you to name your container.*****
When you open the container, you can see the name of it in the upper left corner of the window of the container's contents.
