Glad to see that you chose to stop over in 🇯🇲 Jamaica, a big welcome to you. The coast guard inspections are standard procedure as they constantly have to be on the lookout for both drug and gun smugglers. So sorry that you both had a hard time dealing with bureaucracy and immigration issues. Sigh. I hope that doesn’t deter you guys from coming back again. Jamaica is a beautiful place to explore and enjoy.

I am just realizing how unfree sailing the oceans are and you better have dat paper bitter lol. Was thinking how liberating it would be to get a yacht and sail the world but the more I look into it the more I think a cabin in the woods might be a better fit 😂

Well they can’t just have people just Sailing into their country ! They knew they should always have their papers for every port they go into ! That’s how people smuggle drugs and guns into people’s country ! So the coast guard had a right to check their asses Hmm 😡

If I bought a boat I would buy a cruising yacht and just do the Great Loop up and down the coast and up and down in Mississippi River I wouldn't have to worry about jumping through all those fucking hoops stay down south in the summer I mean in the winter and go back up north in the summer I can have fun doing that and living on my boat and I wouldn't have to jump through all those fucking Hoops to go to the countries I really don't give a shit about anyway I mean it would be great to visit all those Tropical Islands but they have to spend that kind of money just to dock there for 2 weeks I see some of these videos were they have to pay to stop there and then they have to pay again to leave the country screw that shit you're screwed up little island doesn't mean that much to me

Woah . . my heart was pumping when you were inspected at sea. . . . you guys handled it well. I had an aggressive inspection at sea by the Japan Coast Guard. . finally after 3 hours, I was allowed to go to port. after I safely moored my boat in the fishing harbor and went looking for a meal in a local bar ( izakaya). To my surprise the only other customer was an officer from the coast guard ship. LOL. He greeted me like a long lost brother and the next 3 days took me sightseeing!! Lol

I was a sailor at Brazilian Navy, and aleatory inspections are a necessity. Sometimes trafic dealers are very violent thought.
    No problem here. It happens.
And about the filming of the operation, 2 points of view. One: It's important for your safety, in case they're bad people, military or not. Second: It could be dangerous to them to have HOW the operation rolls on the web. Bad guys can use that intel against them.
It's always a pleasure to see theses videos of yours.

Before she gained her Australian citizenship and subsequently her Australian passport, travel was frustrating - we too were "world travellers"; we actually cycled through 18 countries over three years. The OZ passport made a world of difference. Best Wishes to you both.

I dont just jump to “systemic racism.” As that implies victimhood. I dont think it is “that shallow.” What i think is that it is preferencial treatment of people from other, wealthier countries. I experience the same thing in Indonesia as i am charged 4 times as much to see a dentist or to see a temple. I dont think that is racism as much as extortion. I can enter Indonesia with a VOA for $38. But it took 2 years to bring my wife here legally. So one coukd say “discrimination based on nationality” but it goes both ways, just different. My point is, dont get yourself down and i know you have the best wife on earth like i do. Keep your chin up.

Big negotiations between my French embassy and the Jamaican prime minister, for nothing, we had to leave for 11 days of sea to reach Saint Martin. Without much food, without much water without fuel. Without options to stop underway.

I notice you trying to calculate actual travelled distance from the great circle distance given by your navigation system. There is a trick that has a mathematical backbone - add the square root of the as the crow flies distance eg 400+20. Then if you apply your estimated average speed to this slightly longer distance you also get a better estimated journey time. If currents tides ignored and head wind constant then it also shows that whether you do a big tack or a series of short one it makes no difference to this calculation.

Their funny little "Navy." Sending men for boarding operations who have no clue about boats, haha. That's funny. 15:48 Jamaicans are the nicest people man. We have a taxi driver/tour guy we hire every time we go and hire him and he drives us wherever we want and suggest other places, we eat dinner with his family, stop at his swim holes from when he was a kid. Tells us stories etc. It used to JUST be us at the most beautiful spring swimming hole. But last time we went it was beginning to be commercialized... for the public. But yeah, that's the best way to experience Jamaica honestly. Find a nice driver who wants to share the country with you.

So basically, my story is the same as yours for looking at dagger boards, thin hulls, light weight, strong hulls and wanted to be able to beach it but didn't think that was possible till I saw your videos. I got the sailing bug about a year ago after going out on a friend's boat a few times. Now I am in the market for a boat, I like a lot of things about your boat. I do not like the idea of crossing the ocean in essentially a fiberglass bath tub. I have pretty much decided on an aluminum hull boat. I own a decent sized metal fabrication business so I could build a boat myself. I just need someone to design a hull for me. Does Tim Mumby sell just the blueprints for the hull? I definitely want a fast boat but I would like more electronics. I want to build a hybrid propulsion system utilizing 2 small gas turbine engines that are only used to drive generators and I was thinking about using electric pods for propulsion. I like the idea of electric pods that can also function as generators when under sail. I really want a boat that is capable of 25kts under power.

That's a frequent discussion with cruising folk... If you are brought up knowing and handling weapons then you're almost certain to carry them. Of course you probably won't admit that to the authorities because they will confiscate them.

"THIS IS NOT THE WELCOME WE EXPECTED". Well, indeed, every country is different dude... They have to protect their borders! You are lucky they didn't go through your boat and check for drugs since you just sailed from Mexico.
At least you can get into most countries without hindrances for admittance but Princess from a third world country don't have that privilege! There is another couple sailing the world as well. She is from Haiti and he is from Canada, she was denied entry into Portugal because of citizen status. But of course, he had no issue. Sad when another human being can't enjoy something they like just because of where they from...

I agree with you that all this is sad. Concerning Kika: she was denied acces because her Schengen visa had come to an end. Now, after a stay of some weeks outside Schengen space, in Gibraltar, she could enter Portugal with her new Visa. As far as I know, she's now in Spain. which requires exactly the same visa. A European tourist in the US or Canada will face exactly the same problem. He gets 90 days.

Just saw and watched your channel for the first time....interesting, nice catamaran.....attractive couple. Jamaica was a bummer. Not sure when you actually went there...but I think all the requirements you referred to pertaining to covid have been lifter. As I mentioned previously, This's my first time watching your videos...I think you're Australian and Princess is probably from the Philippines, Jamaica has a long standing habit of just trying to extract every dollar as possible from visitors....and members of the authorities are looking for the same...$'s..
That's sad and the bureaucracy is even worse......if you had just listed her as a crew member and not in a relationship, maybe it would be better. As for being boarded, you were outside the exclusion Zone, without the camera it could have gone worse......question.., why board if they did not search the vessel? So many cruise ships travel to Jamaica almost every week and most of the staff are Filipinos, they go ashore without issues. Get my drift..? It's all about $'s..., they took your $80x2 =$160 for covid tests but Princess could not go ashore....? Ask yourself the question. Good luck and be safe.
