  • MY FIRST VLOG!!
    Follow me around whilst I am prepping for my Capsule Endoscopy and the day of the procedure.
    A Capsule Endoscopy is used to see the small intestine and identify diseases. In my case it is to see how active my Crohns is.

    Thank you for being so informative with your journey. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis almost 13 years ago, I'm now 31 and during a huge flare I have been told I most likely have Crohns. My bloods and calprotein results suggest so, I'm due to see the Gastroenterology team for the first time next week to have further tests and confirm. I've been doing some research etc, your channel is really helping me understand and come to terms with the diagnosis!

    Thanks for the video. I just scheduled my capsule endoscopy today. I have had already the colonoscopy and the upper endoscopy (down the throat to the stomach). In preparation for the capsule endoscopy I had to do a barium swallow study. Even though it showed okay, I had a lot of pain and discomfort after the barium swallow. They have told me that it wasn't caused by the study, but that it may have aggravated the inflammation. I am a little nervous about having to go off some of the medications that have helped the cramping. They have told me that in order to get a good view, it is needed.
    Were you already diagnosed with Chron's before the Capsule Endoscopy? When did they put you on the Imraldi? I am at such an early stage of the process, I am not sure what all to ask, so I really appreciate your candor and willingness to share your experience! I just started taking a Prednisone drip and am also on Pantoprazole, Promethazine, and Hyoscyamine. The pain gets so unbearable at times and that is why I am nervous about going of for the Capsule Endoscopy.
    Your confidence has given me more courage to continue on with it all. Thanks again!
    David

    • @Beckijackson_
      @Beckijackson_  3 года назад +1

      Hi David
      The capsule is a lot less uncomfortable then the colonoscopy or the endoscopy in my experience. You may get slight pain and discomfort but just keep walking if you can to help it all move through.
      Yes I was diagnosed before having this capsule but I had one before diagnosis too. I was put onto imraldi pretty much straight after diagnosis after a course of steroids and aza (which didn’t work for me)
      It can be overwhelming in the early stages and the disease is different for everyone but you will find what works for you.
      I hope it all goes well for you, try not to be too nervous and if I can ever help with anything let me know
      Stay well x

    I get my study done at 8am, it’s currently 12am now and all I can do is think about food. It doesn’t help that I just went to Costco and restocked my fridge and pantry this weekend. This feels impossible. I workout 5days a week and I’m not used to this at all!!! I typically have 3 meals a day and 3-4 snacks and a protein shake. I feel dizzy and lethargic. I’m also type one diabetic, I had to completely turn off my insulin because my blood sugars were going low from not eating anything. I can’t wait to get this over with! 😭

    Thank you- what is the injection for? Is it a medication for crohn’s? I am having my first endoscopy in 2 weeks. There is a possibility that I may have the disease- I have many of the symptoms- can you please respond, also as to why you’ve had so many camera endoscopes? What have they helped diagnose? Thank you! Natalie

    • @Beckijackson_
      @Beckijackson_  3 года назад +1

      Hey.
      The injection is medication that alters your immune system, it’s given for crohns ans other conditions.
      The camera endoscopies help diagnose Crohns and all pinpoint where the inflammation is x

      Hi lovely, no for my colonoscopy I had picolax but for the capsule was just no food for a while!

My Dr. said most likely I will not see the pill cam in the toilet . I’m an anxious person so I’m freaking out . I read some blogs that people have the pill cam stuck for weeks w/o any symptoms ( nausea, abdominal pain) were you able to spot your pill cam after a bowel movement? Thanks !
