The rv you drive does have the draw back of not having a vehicle once set up but that is where e-bikes step up. There are some really nice small ones out there. We have a 1989 Tiago and I love it.
Regarding the cutting steaks question: In general the British don't cut their food all at once ahead of time. That is more of an American way of eating. Etiquette in the UK is to leave your food intact, and cut off only what you are going to put in your mouth each time.
