Blimey-(I'm English)-having done French to Advanced level at school,even though have hardly done any for a few decades,I thought"beginner level",no problem-but I had to really focus to get them in time!-quite shocking how much you forget if just not used.
English is my first language and I have taken French classes and I thought I would do much better on this basic French quiz but I realize I need to go back to the books 😢
Cheer up! I was told these questions were not as "basic" as I thought 😅 So maybe the level of difficulty could be categorized as intermediate? Or somewhere in between beginner and intermediate... Anyhow, thanks for giving it a try, I appreciate it :)
I’m French and had a look at the quiz and I’m quite sure that more than 50% of French people wouldn’t be able to answer the question about the names of the accents .My generation could, teachers were strict, but nowadays teachers must teach so many things that they let go what they consider non essential

Sacre bleu et mon dieu! I've barely used any French since leaving school way back in 1977, and I managed 7/10! Even when my sister lived in Montpellier for 5 years and I'd visit the locals would pour scorn on any attempt by me to speak French ... seems like they still hate we Brits, lol. So much for l'entente cordiale! Ah well, c'est la vie.

Only knew #5, I have been to France a number of times but usually just moved from place to place and didn't speak to the locals much, the French are nice people but they genuinely don't speak English well, sometimes not at all.

My father sent me to private school where I took French to 3 years and I only got 2 questions right. How embarrassing on my part especially since I past each of the 3 years.
@@quiznook Thanks for the kind words. Actually, I should have done better since I studied some French in HS and in college, as well as doing my MA degree inFrench history between the wars. But, as the old saying goes, "Use it or lose it."
I thought that was fairly easy. Not sure what my level would be described as as I'm more than a beginner but not really fluent. My first language is British English.

Got 80%. Loved French language since I was a kid, a really long time ago. This quiz takes me back in time and brings me joy. Thank you. 🙏🏾
I wouldn't classify many of these questions as BASIC French at all.

One semester of French 45 years ago. I’m American. I was pretty much lost. I guessed correctly once.
Spanish/English. Got 8 right. Studied French in college (50 years ago!)

English native. I live in Montreal. Speak French. Have worked in French. My sisters name has an accent in it and still got the accent question wrong.

Very easy I am Flemish so I speak Dutch
