For the counter tops I saw someone gather everything into a laundry basket and clean the counters and kitchen and then carry the basket and put everything away as they walked around the house. As for the where to put it...I feel you, I have a 7 week old and a 2.5yr old and my house looks like a bomb went off 24/7 and I don't have the mental energy to figure it all out.
It really depends on the day lol. Some days I enjoy the homemaking aspect of being a mom. I like organizing, making meal plans, doing all the things. But after a week of being on my game, I’ll be over it for a whole other week lol. Like REALLY over it. So it’s a balance lol
Feeding your kids / family everyday is one of the most daunting task as a “homemaker”. To make it “fun” I try recipes that excites me, but even then it’s a struggle. Something I’ve done from the start is that we all eat the same thing for dinner. My daughter eats what we’re eating and if it’s new to her I put it on the side and I tell her she can try it, OR I eat the new item like a snack before dinner and she usually wants what mamas eating 😆 All that to say, it’s hard feeding yourself let alone 3 other people. As for cleaning or doing the chores everyday; it’s about first establishing a home for everything; so at the end of the day you can just put everything where it goes and it takes much less brainpower. The hardest step is getting organized and creating a routine that works for everyone. My biggest problem is siting down. If i sit down in the morning after breakfast, IT IS OVER, I am a slug the rest of the morning; thus, I get most of my “chores” done in the morning and in the evening all I have to do is cook dinner (hypothetically 😂)
I find myself saying out loud how nice the end result will be as I’m doing those tasks. Like “wow, I’m going to be so glad when all this laundry is off the bed and put away.” I might sound like a crazy person but only my toddler hears me so it’s all good
Thank you so much for the consistent uploads I've been looking forward to them every morning! I love your little family! Merry Christmas to the Buell family we love you guys!!
I just started putting a little basket on my counter and putting everything that’s cluttering the counter in there when I’m tidying up and then emptying it out when I actually have time and the motivation 😅
I don’t enjoy the chores but I like the results from doing them. To get through them I often listen to/watch a fun show (one that you don’t have to 100% pay attention to). And if you have to get stuff done when the kids are awake, pick a couple things each day and use the times when they are playing independently or eating a snack.
remember that you are fully equipped to overcome whatever struggle you are facing today, God gives us that word in 2 Timothy 3, you’re a great mama you got this🤍🤍
Have you thought about trying to figure out a spot for coats by the door for your deck? Like a coat rack. I have a TON of work to do today too! I always try to clean on Fridays so i have the weekend to just relax.
I started making sourdough bread this year and it's life changing 😆 it's intimidating at first cause it truly is a science, but once you get the hang of it you feel so accomplished when your loaf comes out good! Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄
"Why are you screaming?" Same! Love this, and seeing your family so much. The craziness (even with my one): this just makes me feel so much less alone in the blessed struggle.❤ I fully felt the statement of going all morning, but feeling like there has been no dent made because of the constant mess. It is SO discouraging, but seeing how amazing you are makes me think (and hope) that I'm doing at least a decent job.😄 I do like a lot of aspects of homemaking, but much less enjoyable with many interruptions. Thank you for doing Vlogmas!!❤
hey Kayla, I have been watching you since you had a mere 2000 subscribers (remember me? no? lol that's totally ok :P)... You are an amazing mother! I will keep saying this till the cows come home. But what makes you exceptional on youtube is that you are so charming and honest. I like that you do not pretend to be in love with home making like other youtube moms. That sh*t is boring and probably fake. This work is bloody hard, and it falls on women despite the fact that many of us are increasingly holding full time jobs while caring for the kids, cooking, and cleaning. SO the majority of us don't even think of enjoying this work. We think of survival!! first and foremost. Children need to be fed (bam), bathed (bam), educated (bam), oh yes me eat (bam), groceries (bam), toilet is chaos (clean clean clean), Laundry (fuck the folding), and as the kids sleep (work!!!!!!). Where's the time to enjoy the homemaking? for me, it is not there. I do things on auto pilot, constantly rushing. This narrative on youtube of homemaking as pleasurable is increasingly draining for a lot of us who cannot function at that level. But I'm happy you push yourself to do more, but just know you are doing fantastically, and while it doesn't feel like it, YOU ARE DOING IT ALL. big hugs and kisses.
Hey Kayla.. you are doing so good with kids. When i was pregnant with my kid i found ur channel, and that time u were also expecting jackson so I instantly connected with u. You have been a role model mom for me. I have learned soo much from u. There were times i was so helpless and guess what I always finds my solutions through ur videos. I really appreciate all the hard work u do. Thankyou so much. God bless u all
Hope you see this comment but I totally feel you on that car rant! I'm part of a few Catholic Facebook groups that might help boost you up a bit if you want to look at them. The first is "Pray Like Mary, Clean Like Martha" which is a nice combo of uplifting other Catholic women plus housekeeping talk. Totally realistic stuff, not all instagram-ish. A lot of times the advise is "well, lower your standards", which I Totally vibe with. Another one is "Catholic Wife Life" and "Catholic Working Moms". As someone who doesn't have any other close Catholic or Christian friends in my life stage, being part of these groups has been super helpful for me!
Kayla don’t worry about not being THAT mom who is tidy and learning to make sour dough bread LOL you WILL get to that point, the kids will be older and in a few years they will do their own things and you will say “I have all this free time!!” You will get there. ❤️
I am the same way!!! I don’t have the patience to cook and such. I’m not a cook. My husband cooks. I’m just trying to keep the little humans alive!! That’s it!!
This is a video i can completely relate some weeks I'm just overwhelmed and won't do much but then theirs some days were in on full home mode and clean the entire house or the majority of it but those are rare. As soon as I'm done cleaning one room the other is a mess and so on and I'm just like why even bother
I definitely found being a homemaker easier when my kids were younger. As they’ve gotten older I for some reason enjoy it less and less. It think it’s because my kids can help more now and it can be frustrating when they don’t. I’m also feeling a bit of burn out from it. It’s a lot to be doing all the time.
I love watching your videos! I found your channel when I was pregnant with my son and have been watching since. I noticed you have a helping tower? Any chance you can share where it’s from?
Thank you for keeping up with vlogmas!!! You do a really good job, i enjoy all of your videos, trust me there are such boring moms and they film like once a week. And they continue to say “umm” half the time, so annoying! And love your shirt, God bless you for putting those thoughts on the market!!!)))
It’s stressful cooking when you’re in a rush and always doing it… I used to love cooking before kids, now it’s more of a chore. Maybe try slow cooker recipes and really fast healthy stuff, I find that a lot has to do with finding recipes and foods that I can do quickly, easily and are tasty and healthy. But all you can do is do your best. I think you’re freakin awesome for doing everything you do, I don’t even work and feel that I am always cleaning but the house is a dump and always cooking but there’s nothing to eat, etc.
I think u would totally benefit from THE EMBER MUG ☕️ It’s sold on Amazon, but recently I seen it at the Costco here in southern Cali I’m assuming that Costco generally sells the same stuff everywhere?? Maybe u guys don’t have a Costco in VA ??? 🤔 Anyways if u haven’t heard of the ember mug then gurrrrl hurry up and check it out ! Yes it’s pricey for what it is but it seems like ur in dire need of it! Lol Love ur life Kayla! Take care !
If you incorporated clean with me videos into your regular schedule, it might help you stay on top of it! I would guess that a lot of your audience would really enjoy that type of content too. I’m always searching for clean with me videos on Saturday mornings when it’s time to clean!
Love how real this video is! lol Follow me as a sulk and whine about cleaning my super messy home. THIS is my life, too! lol and Im so glad im not alone.
I mean, liking making the meals thing.... let's be honest. It's hard to like it when 2 little people are going to refuse to eat most of it 😆 I don't think that reflects on your homemaker-ing. No one likes putting in effort on things that won't be used or appreciated. We have 3 humans in our house, and we eat nothing alike. It makes the making the food thing hard. One can't eat gluten and has so far undiagnosed stomach pain so he never knows in advance what he can eat relatively pain free. The little guy has food allergies and THAT was a challenging learning curve. And I hate most foods. And that's hard. It's literally 3 different meals every time we all sit down to eat at the same time. And that makes cooking feel much more laborious. And very few people like cleaning. Everyone likes the afterwards of cleaning. Most people don't like doing the cleaning. And again, it's hard to do it with little people going behind you and undoing it all day. Anyone living with that is going to get fed up sometimes. Things that personally help me is cooking things in bigger batches so it lasts for 3 meals. So I'm cooking every day, but only 1 persons food. We don't mind leftovers, so that helps. The boys do overlap on a few kinds of food that they like so we do those meals a lot. And we do the snack system for lunch a lot. I know you've mentioned that, so you're not alone. We have our toddler clean up his own messes before dinner and bedtime routine. It's challenging. There's an emotional refusal almost every time and you have to point to each and every thing and remind him where it goes, and usually walk with him to that spot. So it faster than us just doing it? Definitely not. But certain things he used to make a mess with every day he now doesn't make a mess with more than once a week because he's realized he hates picking it up. Like taking every cushion and pillow off the couch. We don't worry about cleaning up u t after he's done his. Which does mean cleaning up in the evening. But I've decided I'd rather give up 45 minutes in the evening if it means only doing it once a day. But every family is different and what works is different. And it's OK to decide on a plan that looks nothing like friends or family or neighbors plans.
If I clean with my kids around it’s like I’m working backwards 🤣 they just follow behind and destroy as I tidy.
🤯🤯🤯🤯 have to try that hack! Genius

When you go in the garage and Riley just casually shuts you in there 😂 She always makes me laugh 💕
That’s what I said I was like RILEY your mama probably can’t see

For the high chair and any other baby clothes that you don't want. You can sell those to your local Once Upon A Child.
Literally was trying to finish watching all the videos you uploaded 😅😅❤❤
