I love black opium over red. I smell a soft powdery fragrance with a hint of Cherry. I love cherry notes, and to me this one gives a very light, soft cherry.
Same! I layered it with a VS perfume body mist and it was sooo good! Even on its own, it's so good. I know BO has a rep for being a party girl scent, but it's such a good fragrance, and the flankers are always amazing!
This smell amazing to me nothing to compare with a cough syrup,the dry drown is better i get compliments with this perfume is gift from my husband i love it

I have the original and this one. I love the over red best! It’s so smooth….sweet. I don’t get much of cherry or white florals. It lasted all day as well
Im not a big cherry fan either but I did like it. I went in Sephora and I smelled it and I was already wearing the new Sol de Janeiro fragrance and they smell amazing together
I was excited about this since I love cherry fragrances. I was silly enough to buy a full sized bottle. This will be going right back to Sephora! If I pay for a Cherry fragrance, I expect to smell the cherry the whole time. After a half hour, all I smell is vanilla😒
I think I’ll stick with my black opium le parfum! I’m not huge on cherry fragrances either I don’t own many. I just got rid of scandal by night too. Thank you for giving us your review on this scent !! I only have rouge smoking and La petite robe noir eau fraiche for cherry perfumes now!
Great review and honest. I returned this fragrance immediately due to the scent and performance. It was definitely cold and flu Tylenol for kids. On top of that was a low performance skin scent. I like black opium with Nuit Blance being my favorite but this was a disappointment. Guess Red smells similar and much better than this.
I tried this out in store yesterday and also got a sample. It reminds me the most of the Le Parfum flanker with cherry. The tester bottle did smell better than the sample so I think it will get better as it sits. I wish tye cherry lasted loger but the dry down is pretty good. More coffee and white florals than the Le Parfum but more wearable than the original. I'll keep testing it out.
I’m surprised you got cough syrup from this and not Scandal by Night. Out of all the cherry fragrances that I’ve tried, Scandal by Night was the most medicinal to me, and I tried & tried with that one. It just goes to show you that we all pick up things differently. Lol
It’s crazy because I sprayed the OG on me recently and over red, they both made me think of childhood and I didn’t know why, it put a smile on my face though because I knew it was connected to something in my childhood. Over red did it more than the OG. After watching your video I thought of my pediatrician, I loved that lady as a child and to me her office smelled like cherries!!! So weird. Anywho the reason you dislike it I think is the same reason I love it. I also have 2 kids but there meds always smell like bubblegum lol. Thank you for the review
I had to return the large bottle that I had blindly bought. Funny enough I don’t even get Cherry at all which is why I wanted it. It dried down to a skin scent of patchulli and vanilla and if I search hard a bit of coffee. I was bummed. I’m surprised it’s sold out everywhere. I was waiting for this review! I'm on the fence about this fragrance. I just recently purchased Black Opium Le Parfum, and I'm in love with it. I was hoping this new launch would captivate me just as much, but it hasn't. I'd love to layer either Cherry Ambition or Lovefest Burning Cherry with the Le Parfum to see if I get the desired effect I wanted to get with this one. I've sampled Cherry Ambition and was wondering, since you have (had) both, which of the two you prefer. I do enjoy Cherry Ambition but find it a bit woodsy in the dry down or maybe it's the saffron.
I agree with you. I smelled it in store & it’s very strong. It almost gave me a headache. It blow my head back. It didn’t smell good at all imo but I am sensitive to most smells due to my migraine disorder.

I liked that one, although the cherry disappears in the dry-down. Something about it reminded me of Vanilla 28, so I layered that with Dare which is a cherry fragrance and I think I like it even better.
I bought a travel size of that one and didn’t like it either 🥴🤣 but it’s blended way better and I can see that one being a hit for cherry lovers, I just felt it reminded me of kayali love fest burning cherry way too much. I wanted to get more of the fluffiness form the marshmallow but I didn’t 🥲 If I had to choose one I would probably go with the cherry ambition though because this flanker just feels like it’s missing something or not thought out good enough. 🥴

I think I'll pass on Black Opium over Red. I have 2 cherry perfumes, Zara Cherry Smoothie and Guess Seductive Red. I agree that I think I could put one of these layered with Black Opium to get the effect. I prefer Guess Seductive Red over my Zara one. Zara Cherry Smoothie is more like cough syrup to me. Whereas Guess Seductive Red is the Tart Cherry I want
My favorite 🍒 so far are Lancôme La Nuit Tresor intense & seductive red by guess. I am a Black opium lover, it smells so sweet and gourmand on my skin, and my body projects that so hard! It will be a forever for me. I had someone call me once and say they still smelt me in their room 7 hours later! So I may like it, but cherry not in the mid or dry down is a little concerning.

😂I didn’t get any of that when I first Sprayed it but saying that, I felt like I got the vibe that it wasn’t thought out, like it was rushed or incomplete and I was disappointed in the longevity. I do layer this and I’m keeping it, I’ll explain why in a review soon. I’m disappointed in black opium because this was a good opportunity to do something awesome and I feel like they fell short on this one. I do think it’s ok , only because I layer mine and it makes a fragrance of mine that’s already a favorite, even better.

When I think of cherry in a scent this is exactly what I'm looking for Cherry licorice 🍒😍 vanilla with a hint of coffee/ cocoa. every other cherry ( Kayail, lost cherry & most of the dupes) smell so bad & screechy to me me like a cherry cigarette 🤢 if I'm not imposing I'd like you to revisit this one day. Soo funny you mention your mom! I’m 53 but for me it was the OG Opium! Cloves cinnamon amber ahhh 😌 that was the original bomb! Whoever changed it? Is dumb ha I sooo miss the original Opium! In the notes? None of the og spices are listed at all!! They kept amber and some flower! And that’s not what original opium was about! Ask your mom if she wore the original?
I haven’t smelled this yet. I love cherry but have never been won over by Black Opium. Have you tried BDK Rouge Smoking? It is my favorite cherry fragrance, a very vanillic cherry. I wonder if it would win you over.
Le parfum is so beautiful! It gets better over time as it sits in your collection with a lot of vanilla and the black opium dna peaks trough but it isnt sharp or screechy at all. ❤️
I just drove to Ulta to smell it and oh man. It smells EXACTLY like an artificial cherry you smell on a chocolate sundae. WAS NOT A FAN TO SAY THE LEAST 😬

I have five LPRN’s and eau fraiche is one of my faves. Intense is my #1 but it’s blueberry. The OG literally stays on for 12 hours though!

The best cherry frag is Kayali Lovefest burning cherry. Hands down. So bc of that, I’m just not interested in this one. Cherry punk is good too.
