This was my fav rig setup and tutorial so far. Thank you.
I was literally about to buy all the pieces and then I realized bro was basically building an FX6 😳 awesome work bro!
FX6 is a great camera. I used it once on a movie set. The good thing about this set up is I can always strip it down and have a compact cinema camera.
I have the FX3 and I’m going to copy this rig! Lol. Great video!
Great build and video! Thanks for sharing!
Do you think this rig could be functional without the 3d print attachment? I dont have access to anything like that where I live at. Im thinking this could work for my fx30 until your new batch of designs release.
Grea vídeo Man, camera looks very nice and funtional...
Epic video, epic camera rig, this is the type of content I subscribed for
🙌🙌
great video, and epic cine lenses
Thanks!!
Bro you’re Genius !!!!!
Love this. Thanks for showing how to put this all together
Glad it was helpful!
Did you ever end up making this set. Wondering how it looks on the fx30.
@@DavinciHD_ Exactly the same as the fx3
they sell small camera for us to build bigger
LOL the good thing is you don't have to make it bigger. you can always use it as is.
😂😂😂
I would love to rig like this for my ZV-E1, it has the smallrig cage as well. Do you have any tips?
I really like the look of this rig setup! Does anyone know if someone has done a similar one for the Lumix S1H or S5?
Does the dummy battery still work with the fx3 ver 4.0? I saw on smallrigs website and it says it is incompatible? Is the "incompatibility" just not showing the battery percentage? Anyone have answers to this?
Where can I get the downloadable link for the DLSR shooter side panel?
Hey mate I have quick question, is it possible to use the side handle as an autofocus button instead of recording?
Big fan bro. I geeked out when I saw you had filmed Pruna...I wish I was there to see you work! PS I'm totally jacking this setup...preciate it!
Appreiciate it bro! John is such a great person, glad I got to work with him.
Did you ever end up making this set. Wondering how it looks on the fx30.
what about the on off switch? Thanks!
Great setup!!! I would love to convert my FX3 into something like this I just need to find a way to include the top handle. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks bro! Happy Rigging!!
Has anyone tried this build without the 3d printed attachment? Thinking about doing this for an fx 30 build
I'm glad I found your video! I had seen Caleb's video and was breaking my head to find a matching cheese plate that goes to the back of this setup. Good to see that the original parts Caleb presented also work in the conversion for the FX3! I need to find a way to bury a Zoom f3 though 😄
You got it bro! I'm glad this is helpful.
Using the two smallrig cheese plates and their v mount plate you can connect all three without the use of the little plates in between so it's even cleaner. I've been meaning to share my rig which was also inspired my Caleb.
@@AtomicPixel Yes, please make a video on it, curious which V-mount plate you're using for this!
@@HighlyAkicktive will do!
If you ever find a good way to bury the zoom f3 i would love to hear the solution
anyone have a link to the side panel 3d file?
where did you get your allen key???
Great looking rig and thank you for sharing. Tip: For you audio, use Adobe audio enhancer and it will make your audio way better in your videos.
I suck at Audio! thanks for the tip!
Thank you for this tip, I am looking forward to using it with my audio as well! Cheers
great video! Can i get a 3d model stl that side panel? if you sale, let me know about product place plz
This is really a question of internal NDs. This essentially turns the FX3 into an FX6 so do you want an FX6 with internal NDs or this rig that you can strip down if you want a smaller camera?
Great video I actually think im going to end up using a similar setup. Question - if you don't have a 3D printer accessible, since you had to customize that particular piece yourself, if there a part that you might be able to point me in the direction of to purchase if I dont have a 3D printer?
The only way that I can think of is to buy the physical kits that he sells on the website and cut the panel in half. That's might not be the most efficient way lol but I don't think there's anything in the market that's similar to what he made.
nice! I definitely prefer the zv-e1 for this tho
can you upload the 3d print file please?!
This is way more affordable than the Cineback, which in Australia is $450! My question is: what does this do better than the usual rig with a cage and rails only? If the goal is to mount added accessories, what are they? A monitor, side and top handle, and v-mount all work without the extra cheese plate housings. Plus, it's way more fuss to remove the camera from the rig if I want to change to a gimbal or run it without all the accessories like for travel or quick shots.
Not to diss Samuel as I respect his build a lot more than the cashgrab that cineback is BUT --- That's what's been driving me crazy. This is just a youtuber fad that puts aesthetics before functionality. The "cineback" setup is absolutely worse than the standard cinema rig for the FX3. You are quite literally adding useless weight, locking your camera between two cheeseplates and bolting it into the rig, you gain *nothing* other than a bunch of mounting points which you never needed with the normal cinema setup and blocking the audio handle contact. Heck, most of the cheese plate is blocked by the handle so there isn't even a point to most those mounting points.
This is just one of the option. everyone set up and need are different. what work for you might not work for others. What good about this is it's reversible, and the extra weight actually help with stabilization when film handheld. But I have to agree with you the real downside is you unable to use the audio handle, other than that I love this set up.
Hello I'm new here I like how to explain about the rig of the build thank you!
by the way, are you from Cambodia ?
Looks really great, that sould work with the a7s3?
I'm not sure since it has a different body design, but hey it's never hurt to try
Great video man! What hdmi cable do you recommend?
Thank you! any HDMI would work. I don't even know what brand im using lol
Can I switch to a shorter cheese plate from the top? Will it be stable like the longer plate? Cheers! Ron
I'm not sure but it's doesn't hurt to try.
It's crazy cause he just made a build for the fx30/3
Is there a place I can buy that 3d printed monitor backing?
I have a 3d printer near my job if someone send me the file I can get them done for $15 .
With all of the add-ons, would a FX6 be comparable?
the good thing about this set up is it not permanent. You can strip it down and have a compact camera comparing to FX6 you will stuck with a bigger body. with that said, I think FX6 is a great camera, and I might be getting on in the future.
that's just big boys LEGO
Might be a dumb question fam idk.. but could this exact set up be placed on a ronin stabilizer ? Thanks. Sick rig BTW
I think if we take aways the base plate and v mount battery it could work, but then there is not point of building this rig if we gonna do that lol. My whole purpose of this rig is to have a heavy setup so it can help stabilize when shooting handheld.
@@samuelrayy 😂 oh ok gotcha. Thank you for the response 🙏
Can you do the same for ZVE1?
I'm not sure but never say never
So how are you gonna use the top handle with this set up ?
That's the only downside of this cage (I forgot to mention) but if you want to run a normal audio, there's a cold shoe mount on the left side of the cage.
f . . ck that top handle!
do you have link to the dummy battery?
smallrig doesn't make one for the fx3
I used to rig my cam but i dont enjoy it. In the end you still don't get the ergonomic buttons fx6 gives you. The cam body is still too small for fast operation and the rig gets in the way. I'm using fx6 as A cam and the naked fx3 is purely for gimbal.
I love FX6. It's such a great camera; hopefully, they bring some of those features to FX3 Mark 2. I rigged this camera so that I could use it for a certain shoot. The weight does help stabilize when shooting handheld. The good thing about this is I can always strip it down and have a small compact cinema camera
With a set up like this, how long does your 99Wh power your entire rig?
I have the 50w one and it powers my portkeys pt6 monitor with intermittent charging of the camera battery -- I get about 4 hours so I swap the battery at half day of a wedding. I use the 50w to keep the weight down. I would think using the 99, you could go at least 8 hours for monitor and trickle charging battery ( I use usbc rather than dummy battery for redundancy)
It last me all day but again your situation might be different from mine. so grab a few of these and keep it in camera case.
Why would you want to make a small camera big and heavy?
because Voila Cinema
But really for all day battery life, stable handheld, better viewing with monitor, ergonomics, and other factors
Can I have a copy of the 3D print file too please????
Ask your friend how much to make me one of those backs for the monitor
I wonder, at this point why don’t you just go with FX6 ? Genuine question
You can breakdown a smaller camera with bigger rig but you can't do that with fx6.
correct!
Caleb recently dropped his version of this
yeah I saw. I love it I think he did a great job with it
Buy a RED!
It can't be a perfect rig if you don't think of the sound input, where are the microphones?
You can mount Rode NTG to the cold shoe mount on the left side of the cage. The only downside about this rig that I forgot to mention is that we're unable to take advantage of the audio handle that came with the camera.
Maybe. Until you see the FX3 rig that used in the filming of The Creator.
Will look into that.
lol the perfect fx3 rig 🤣🤣🤣
perfect? seems more like a big obstacle
I think the only advantage of the fx3 over other cameras in the cine line is its versatility, but by mounting all that on it, it loses its biggest advantage.
Don't like the dummy camera battery. Much prefer usb-c PD charging.
Far from perfect
they bought compact camera to make it heavy and big, what a joke
This is just an option. you don't have to build it big if you don't want to.
was waiting for this! can't wait to do this for my fx30
Happy Rigging!!
@@samuelrayy if you get rid of the nato rail adapter wouldn't the original 3d print fit?
Did you ever end up making this set. Wondering how it looks on the fx30.
@@DavinciHD_ I'm making a video about it soon. I'll send you a link
