i remember seeing this performance when i lived in Wyoming. it was a sunny warm day that labor day. being a trumpet player myself, hearing his ability to master that instrument made that warm sunny day a lot warmer and brighter
What an arrangement !!! And what a fantastic orchestra, complete 17 piece big band, plus a large strings section, plus a chorus of back-up singers !!! Wow !! You will not hear a musical orchestra like this anytime soon, and if you ever get the chance, you should listen. Doc, today at age 91 in 2018 is still playing strong. Unbelievable. See his You-Tube Video: " Doc Severinsen's 90th Birthday Celebration" and listen to him with orchestra play at age 91. Fantastic !!!
jennifer86010 Great freakish talent: years ago I was working in Atlantic City in a lounge band and spoke with him. He told me that as he got older he had to practice hours and hours every day just to maintain his skill.
Anybody know what year this is? He dedicates it to Billy Butterfield, wondering if he was still alive to hear it.....that would be cool. Incredible playing. Love Doc

Jerry says it all at the end. "What a talented man." Doc was the king
